nice price deal !!! macro has been the home for the albums of some of electronic music’s most exciting live acts. so when a live band enters this context, it should better enter with a bang. kuf do just this with their album debut. the three-piece outfit with keys, bass and drums cooks up a sound that is as warm, cozy and exciting as it is utterly alien. the rhythm section hints at the great history of dirty funk and bouncing r’n b, but the grooves are firmly of today: dance-centered, thrillingly interactive and broken up at the best possible joints. the bewildering thing about kuf is that it is a vocal-led group that has no singer on stage at all. all vocal elements are based on self-recorded samples which keyboard whizz kid tom schneider melds and bends and squeezes in real time. as if it was the most natural thing to do. with no artificial synchronization in place, valentin link on bass and hendrik havekost on drums push the disembodied voices into an arena of hyperintegrated realtime magic of rough soul, intertwined by improvised outbursts and shaped with the aesthetics of raw mpc-based cut up techno.

“last days and time” is the third studio album by american r&b group earth, wind & fire, released in 1972, their debut album on columbia records. it was recorded at the legendary sunset sound studios in hollywood, california, with founder and multi-instrumentalist maurice white, verdine white and philip bailey. due to their live performances it cemented their status as the main funk band and set the stage for the band’s blockbuster breakthrough. songs on the album like “make it with you” (originally from bread) the pre-“brazilian rhyme” powerful funk sax style “power”, (which sounds like an early version of “serpentine fire”) and “remember the children” are excellent examples of the great songs and albums they have made during their career.

2016 is shaping to be a fantastic year for rebirth records, the 10th year anniversary and the 100th release…to celebrate this special date the label owner shield and his right arm robytek get in the studio to collaborate with two of the most innovative figures of the end of 70s / early 80s. the a side is the the pyramids with isabelle antena, french singer and songwriter, founding member of electro-samba pioneers antena. in the 1990s she also led another group, the powaga sisters, for three albums between until 2004. alongside these projects she maintained a solo music career, selling over a million albums and earning musical acclaim across the globe. from camino del sol (1982) to bossa super nova (2010), her cool latin, bossa, jazz and funk vibes have delighted ears and feet worldwide. the pyramids is something really special, a cosmic and balearic song with a timeless meaning, with the collaboration of martin ditcham (sade s percussionist) for the drum and paolo mantini, a real italian talent, for the bass and chords. the aa side is now, a collaboration with salvatore principato (sal p.) and dennis young, known as the vocalist and marimba/percussionist of (for the legendary early 80 s nyc band liquid liquid) seminal nyc minimalist-funk band liquid liquid. the experimental sounding band emerged from new york city s vibrant downtown scene in 1981, developing their own unique sound which they called big beat, a fusion of irresistible basslines, junkyard percussion and urgent, free-flowing lyrics. the group s successes included club hits such as cavern (sampled by grandmaster flash in the making of white lines), bellhead and optimo in addition to sold-out concerts worldwide. sal p and dennis still explore today new ways of writing & performing music. now is the experimental way to combine the live drums played by snacks (the berlin based duo rene corbett & aljoscha babel), with the electronic world and the unique musical textures from sal p and dennis young.

a-z is a new label started by al zanders ! this stand-out new production talent has already, across only a handful of releases (as lodger on the stamp label & under his own name on karakul & blind jacks journey) made quite a name for himself ! a-z is a new platform for his distinctive and eclectic output after sharing a stage at shambala festival, al was impressed by the 7 piece sheffield group hot diamond aces, who sent the crowd into a dancing frenzy with their bombastic brass licks and afro-beat inspired rhythms. so impressed in fact, that he approached them afterwards with the idea of doing a remix and starting a label. the reworked version of dsomc is a certified corker that has already been tearing up dancefloors. for the flip, things get deeper with an unashamedly happy house jam raiz , which features some twinkling keys from sleepsang. perfect for the summer!

basil & rogers is a sleazy, california disco duo made up of heru (dj) johnny basil and body rogers. basil, a multi-instrumentalist, long-time record collector, and energy healer is a man that s been making music for a long time under many different guises and in many different styles. heru avenger (acid/psych rock), non stop (electronic/free jazz), baast (kraut rock/jazz funk), and kandi jones (slut rock) are just a few of his projects, past and present. most of this music has been around for the entirety of the 90 s and 2000 s without being heard because despite basil s outspoken appearance (described by many as looking like iggy pop s twin brother and would never be caught wearing a t-shirt no matter the location) he s very quiet about his musical output. body rogers is also part of the non stop group and is a master of electronics and engineering. on the basil & rogers project the two have made a disco 12- that is influenced by classic-era dance music while still being completely unique and far from conforming. it s crazy, it s sexy, and it s sleazy. tune in .

here at control room recordings we feature analog only synthesizer recordings and one off and special projects. our last release was from the human league and we are pleased to be following that up with another titanic group from the 80s visage. following the tragic death of steve strange in feb 2015 visage and steve strange s family are planning a series of events to honour steve s life and commemorate the impact that he made on the worlds of fashion, music and style. one of those events is the fifth and final studio album from visage. as a bridge between the highly successful fourth album hearts and knives and this future album we are pleased to be releasing a vinyl only special single.

favorite recordings presents this new official album reissue of shine the light of love by googie & tom coppola: a beautiful soul album sublimely produced with a sweet la groove! thomas wilkinson coppola (aka tom coppola) is a pianist and arranger, known for being a principal member of the funky prog-jazz group air (not to be confused with the french duo). he began working as a musician in manhattan in the 1960s, where he met carolyn brooks (aka googie coppola). if they only released one self-titled album with air in 1970, and shine the light of love as a duo in 1980, these two amazing talents have collaborated with artists such as herbie mann, lenny white, flora purim, ray barreto or jeremy steig to name just a few.

according to white material pair galcher lustwerk and alvin aronson, their first collaborative album under the studio ost alias contains a mix of breezy electro, aquatic dub, high speed jit, and shimmering atmospherics. while clearly tongue-in-cheek, it s a fairly accurate description. certainly, there s a fluidity, moodiness and palpable sense of atmosphere at the heart of scenes, which casually drifts between hard-edged club workouts, hazy post-club fare and dreamy, horizontal experiments. it was apparently recorded over a three-year period, during jam sessions at various new york studios. its the spontaneous aspect of its creation that has the biggest effect, and makes the whole thing feel like fleeting snapshots of moments in time.

new three track ep by los angeles producer silent servant. these will fly ...tip! known for his previous work with techno outfit sandwell district, juan mendez, since the dissolve of the group has tapped into his formative new wave/post punk and early electronic influences effectively applying them to his recent productions to create an engaging amalgamation of modern dance music. across this ep the sounds of bleep, ebm, and even minimal synth are all present...from deep floor movers to jagged edged 150 bpm skankers, mendez through these last years has been responsible for opening up minds on the floor and this ep proves to be a testament of such.

jamal moss, aka hieroglyphic being, returns for a new second album on soul jazz records, after last year’s debut the acid documents. this time under the name africans with mainframes.
hieroglyphic being and fellow chicago producer noleian reusse have been releasing music under the name africans with mainframes for over 15 years now, ever since their debut on hieroglyphic being’s own mathematics recordings label in 2005. ‘k.m.t.’ is the debut album from the group, a collage of apocalyptic chicago acid meets industrial and transcendental post-house machine funk.

death waltz recording company is proud to exhume another classic from the hammer horror stable in the shape of “dracula a.d. 1972”. bringing the legend of bram stoker s immortal creation into then-present day, the film pits the charismatic count up against the disco decade after being resurrected by a group of hippies performing black magic, with cristopher lee and peter cushing reprising their signature roles. composing this madness was mike vickers, former member of 60’s pop quiet manfred mann, who provided a suitably contemporary score that followed in the footsteps of jazz scores from that era.

the second release is a split between the label owners lc12 and the rising star autre.
on the first side rumore and orphidal are opening the release with a 115 bpm proto-ambient track filled with liquid grooves and tribal elements while in the second cut they are showing us their faster and deep-acid side with conversations.
on the other surface autre is killing it with filter sessions 329, a mental techno trip did while experimenting with his new filter bank, an 808 and a juno 106. the b2 is an elegant track with a fred p-esque touch, suitable for every kind of dance floor.

the jazzinvaders went back into the studio after two successful tours with hammond legend dr lonnie smith and the brazilian fusion group azymuth. the jazzinvaders decided it would be fun to spend some time in the studio to see if they could come up with a disco-jazz album.

debut lp offering from london rap group jungle brown. having featured on sbtv with their ep ‘take one’, this lp builds on a strong foundation. sample heavy, with strong saxophone performances from ayo odia, the instrumentation is rich and thick in texture. lyrically the group go from light and playful, to deep and introspective with great subtlety. keep it movin (a1) is a light reflection of the group moving from bournemouth to london, while ‘in the city’ (b1) is a gritty anthem detailing the arrival to the city. having a strong performance record behind them as well, the group’s reach is good, both in the uk and abroad.

africa is not a country. we in the west often refer to african music but what is that exactly? it could be myriad, almost unimaginably different forms of music that bear little relation to each other, as after all africa is a vast continent that is larger than the united states, australia and the whole of europe combined. these four tracks showcase some of those different forms of music from across the continent. there is some cosmic synth drenched proto-house, an afro-beat call to arms, a hypnotic juju workout and a rough and ready, relentless lo fi west african banger. all proceeds will go to human rights justice group, nigeria.

lost trax embody the idea of underground techno. the shadowy group, members unknown, began their music careers over 20 years ago. output may be low, but quality is high, the style being no compromise techno brilliance. and thats whats on show here. kick drums and squirming acid bars are at the core of faith, a track where soaring strings shift and reshape. the chiselled claps and barbed bass of flatliner follows, taking its cue from the heyday of detroit. a watery world of analogue abstraction greets the listener on the flip, lost being an atmospheric journey into to the squelching swamps of the tb303. sniping beats introduce the lush tones of renderer. blurring the lines of electro and techno the track is an elegant end to an ep of deep and dense layers.

following the recent release of so low, a compilation of early ‘80s synth, industrial and cold wave classics and undiscovered gems curated by optimo’s jd twitch aka keith mcivor, the vinyl factory are set to release specially commissioned remixes of two tracks on the 16-track compilation by rising uk producer powell and hamburg’s helena hauff. powell’s pneumatic sound is perfectly suited to ‘49 second romance’ by german minimalists p1/e, which he deftly deconstructs, while hauff adds glistening synths to belgian electro-industrial group the klinik’s ‘moving hands’ for a driving, nocturnal version.
