hard ton, italy s extravagant duo of all things house music are back on luv shack records, unleashing six steaming hot tracks on the -queer nation ep- - a precursor to the first full hard ton album that is due for 2017. -queer nation- has singer max swapping his falsetto with a dark mangled voice, reciting names of queer icons over a dry acid house track that rejoices in repetition, and rightly so. classic music head honcho luke solomon s remix of -queer nation- builds up an intense 707 drum pattern, underlining rhythm guitars and max s voice, ending in a bold acid climax. italian newcomers younger than me also take on -queer nation-, marrying an early 80 s wave touch with a classic house approach.

the lp “the world is shit” is a radical and depressing statement by sebastian reuschel looking at the world, the society and the people living in those. a-side track “exav 2b” is a warm and deep industrial ambient track which starts rough and noisy but culminates in a rolling and dark atmosphere. “dying alone” – the b-side track – is a sample based rolling noise dream of suicide and total apocalypse.

with this ep best works records would like to pre-sent a new artist - luis junior. no stranger to the game! madrid-based luis junior has been a dj and music producer for more than 20 years. in 1993 he re-leased his first 12-inches starting to build a disco-graphy of genre-defying music that pushes forever forward, designing new stylistic frameworks and breaking new artistic ground with each successive production. luis has grown into one of the most cut-ting edge and inspiring artists in spanish electronic music. his versatile production skills are clearly displayed here from soulful and folkloristic influences to techno. the first track on the ep “don’t give up on me” fea-tures singer sobi thurairatnam with sultry vocals and a stong pop-appeal. d-nox and beckers tranform it into a club burner for the early hours. floidos on the back-side is more of techno-orientated banger and with pasion luis junior manages to integrate some spanish flamenco sounds without getting to obvious.

zum fünfjährigen jubiläum legt das britische label invada eine special edition des soundtracks auf. musikalisch gleicher inhalt, aber die verpackung ist völlig neu: regisseur nicolas winding refn und komponist cliff martinez haben neue liner notes verfasst. die komplett überarbeitete grafik stammt von dem künstler john bergin. das vinyl selbst ist zur hälfte transparent, zur hälfte pink. diese edition gibt es nur bis zum jahresende. sie ist zeitlich begrenzt und damit sehr limitiert. danach wird wieder die ursprüngliche version aufgelegt. -drive- gehört zu den populärsten scores der letzten jahre. die mischung aus elektronischer pop-musik (unter der leitung/produktion der chromatics) und dem elektronischem soundtrack (von cliff martinez, ex-red hot chilli pepeprs) geht wunderbar auf und verbindet sich treffsicher mit den suggestiven bildern des films.

darren roach is supreme master of his own unique electronic house fusion as he weaves his virtuosity into his forth-coming ep vinyl only pressing ‘ionian’, due to be proudly released by the end of october on giant records. this technically deluxe record presents an a-side original mix, written and produced by darren, along with double remix b-sides from ‘echo of glory’ and ‘funton’ who both offer additional production to this sonically vibrant pressing. darren’s depth of creative flair and technical finesse is wildly evident within the tracks purposeful deep, elevated groove. the composition holds an intricate dynamic depth to its pulsating core root and draws upon a clean-cut stimulating atmospheric clarity within the concise use of synthesizer. melodic bursts intertwine and flourish in a rich and vibrant way amongst an array of intricate atmospheric key parts and crowd stomping purposeful beats. a wholly elevating sonic vibration that will have you instantaneously elevated and unified on the dance floor under the one truly vibrant positive spell.

josh praus has been involved in san francisco’s bay area scene for the last two decades. a prolific collector and player of records, what we tellin’ them marks his first public outing as a producer. as debuts go, it’s pretty darn impressive.
praus has been working hard in the studio over the last three years, creating tracks that draw influence from a wide range of styles and artists. he cites “downtempo, disco, house, italo and techno” as major inspirations, and listeners may hear elements from all of these disparate styles on this assured, confident ep.

dancefloor munitions aplenty with this release from rlsd. 4 great tracks with plenty of potential. rlsd 001 finally drops, featuring original tracks by doug cooney, pgj and jonathan k, along with a lee holman remix. in long established tradition, the first outing by dublin based techno label rlsd records has indeed been a labour of love. with small quantities already in all city records, it’s firing on all cylinders and has been well worth the wait.

mono junk’s cult label dum records is back with a new five track various artists ep that again packs a vital punch. he appears himself along with some fellow legends of the scene. first up, morpholgy is a consistent performer who has continued to serve up quality electro since 2009 and here serves up a hot new piece. ‘vector plant’ is busy and industrial, slick and metallic as it unfolds and burrows deep into your veins. then comes the a2, irwin berg featuring freestyle man (aka finnish moodmusic boss sasse aka klas lindblad) with a track made in 1995 and never released before. this pair worked together and made a cult electro record for sähkö recordigs in 1998 and this one is just as impactful. it is frosty and frazzled, slow motion but high impact and full of distorted lines and heavy drums. next is mr velcro fastener who were the first kings of electro to come out of finland and between 1999 and 2006 were famous all over the world. their brand new cut ‘almost there’ is a deep one that is riddled with bleeping melodies and has smeared chords bringing a sci-fi feel. then it is mono junk’s turn to dive into the vaults with an unreleased track from 2005. ‘feeling or destroy’ is a physical number with crashing hits and snaking, gurgling bass that is dark and dystopian. last of all comes irwin berg with mono junk as new york city survivors. says the dum boss, “our unreleased track here was made after the new york city survivors – static light cd 2002” and it is a turbo charged track with screwed up grinding bass, icy hi hat rhythms and menace in its grooves.

over the last few years, dutch electronic misfit vc-118a has delivered a number of killer eps and 12inch singles, each packed with sharp-edged electro, spacey techno, and industrial-strength analogue house. shift regsiter is his second full-length excursion his debut, international airlines, appeared on lunar disko back in 2012 and offers an expansive and hugely atmospheric journey through his trademark sound. naturally, there s much to admire across the 14 tracks, from the woozy, spaced-out electro-dub of input mode and the sparkling idm of serial data transmission, to the ultra-deep throb of radiation curve, and the hard-wired dancefloor bounce of the drexciya-like apex

after a well-received debut record on fellow leipzig imprint kann (route, 2015), tent tracks marks polo s second artist ep and his rst one for holger. here he further expands the hypnotic qualities of his productions and yet always remains in the blurry zone between techno and house. based on rather loopy grooves, his sound is moving as well as meditative it s extremely physical and remarkably spiritual at the same time. music to dance and lose your mind to. in all that its essentially polo one of leipzig s most established djs for almost two decades, rock solid and ever reliable.

its the music of the space that extends between oceans and mountain slopes. its the music of the space that is much bigger and much more adventurous than the four walls of a club look like. its the latest record on acker, and it orbits around a song from il civetto. the band from berlin is a wonderfully multicultural bunch. their sound is reminiscent of gypsy, folk or swing, but at the same time it doesnt really fit any of these labels. liberté ana is a perfect example. monolink turns this track into a groovy downbeat tune that vibrates much higher than its low bpm count - the perfect soundtrack for laid-back afternoons or afterhours. pophop does what he does best: party. however, between the catchy bassline and the tight percussions of his remix theres still a lot of space for the soul of liberté ana. umami goes even further and creates an ecstatic banger that has everything it takes to be played during the prime time on the dance floor.

svs returns with a supremely crafted 5 track ep from munich s david goldberg. channeling early 2000s electronica and more contemporary styles, goldberg delivers a solid slice of sonic pleasure.
