unblock label boss tuccillo strikes again with another solid release with the ep black talk. this is the 5th release on this respected vinyl only imprint that has previously showcased talent such as tomoki tamura and djebali but this time, comes from tuccillo himself with his unmistakable signature sound. headlining track -black talk- has a great rolling baseline with plenty of swing with some subtle vocal snippets thrown in here and there. -ride on- has a tougher edge with some old school flavours driven by a rhythmic snare with lots of energy perfect for the height of club dj set shopwork offers a more percussive sound over an infectious warm chunky groove, again with some cool short reggae influenced vocal snippets. a timeless release that can stay in the box.

timmy ps latest outing on dessous recordings continues the long list of illustrious labels that have been home to his house vision. now based in london, timmy has a string of emphatic releases under his belt, not least on influential imprints such as local talk, extended play, dirt crew and madtech. with safety first, timmys playful approach to the deeper side of house shines though. the title track mixes crisp, crunchy drums with warm, soft pads and a bubbling bass line - a deep rolling cut with plenty of punch for the floor. the fantastically named grim fandango is a little tougher, with the snares and claps snapping tightly over a taut, un-resistible vibe. timmys balance of dynamics is masterful, each element perfectly complimenting each other to create a tour de force over 8 minutes. bosh is similarly crafted - the original echoing classic 90s house but feeling completely fresh for 2016, while james dexters remix is a robust, deep roller. this is house music made with joy and passion.

ayman rostom has really taken to the maghreban, with a succession of singles for versatile and his own zoot label that have shown him fully capable of bringing his sampling talents to the realm of house, disco and techno. the latest missive from the maghreban comes on black acre, a label rostom has previous with after that superb library music lp as dr. zygote a few years back. two tracks deep, lose it presents all that we love about the maghreban, the title track sees a classic “girl i’m starting to lose it” phrase lifted off an early jungle classic from boogie times tribe assembled with a monstrous analogue bassline and plenty of feverish effects tweaking in the mix. “wrong move” is just as smart, delving into the darkest depths of rugged breakbeat science.

following the announcement that they’ve collaborated with perma-masked zomby on his upcoming lp for hyperdub, behooded hardware manglers rezzett return to home soil for their latest, and perhaps best so far, 12&#8243,,, for the trilogy tapes. with a very defined, redlining approach to techno and hardcore tropes established across their prior output on will bankhead’s label, the duo demonstrate there is still plenty of scope for invention on doyce. in essence you get two versions of the same track either side of this 12 inch.

one of the founding members of apollonia, shonky was responsible for his label’s very first release back in 2012 with ‘the minneapolis touch’. outside of working on the trio’s debut lp ‘tour a tour’, shonky has been relatively quiet on the solo tip. here on apollonia’s 25th release we’re treated to four new cuts from the berlin-based parisian, kicking off with plombie&#768,,re (plumber in english). shonky injects a variety of unusual sounds, which revolve around a jaunty bassline, while voices dip in and out of the background, repeating the mantra ‘house music’ together with other difficult to decipher vocal clips. the track has a catchy rhythm that bounces along with aplomb. up next ‘house me’ is a sleazy, mischievous cut with a deadly low end and a seductive vocal that urges you to ‘house me’. as the bassline rumbles, high pitched effects add a hypnotic element to the track. badboy business.on the b-side we have ‘perchee’, which is powered by cleverly layered percussion, which is almost ‘live’ sounding. another one of those ‘shonky’ basslines gets us straight into the groove, with utterly contagious beats – this is one to shake the dance floor down its core. finally, ‘cosmopolis’ has that inner city realness flowing through with the chatter of a street corner in the background, a killer b-line and one of those classic vocal samples that is oh so familiar and gets you nodding your head as soon as you hear it. and there it is, four dance floor cuts with plenty of depth and groove in true shonky style… c est formidable!

bar musica is a brand new label that promises to inject plenty of charm and originality into the underground house and techno world. the first release kicked up quite a storm from label owner bartolomeo, and the second release features a trio of great originals by j paraguai, with a remix from long time electronic talent bruno pronsato. rumba is up first and is a full fat, corrugated house track with tribal percussion, punchy drums that swing down low and afro vocals. it is a dynamite groove with roughshod tin pot hits that are carefully treated and bring a lovably wild side to the track. thesoundsays founder and berlin based new yorker bruno pronsato has been on the fringes of the underground for more than a decade with inventive eps and lps on labels like hello? repeat and bosconi. his remix is stripped back to a forceful and rubbery techno groove. blistered synths rip up the middle and spooky voices, trippy effects and manic loops all make it a freaky late night or after-hours tune that will send floors wild. ble is then another j paraguai, and this one is again unhinged and urgent, with intense synths exploding above shuffling, tightly knotted minimal drums and sweeping pads. it’s pure wtf music for brave djs and dancers and is a truly original production. then last original atles is rugged and impactful in the way in combines house and techno into new ideas. it is stripped back to little chopped loops that bury deep in your brain and have you in a trance in no time. as such, it rounds out a fine ep and keeps this exciting new label going off in great style.

the prolific producer shows he still has plenty of tricks up his sleeve across all four cuts and stitches in acid, jack and chicago styles with his own sense of charm. the kings comes hard and fast out of the blocks with big hits, wild synths and raved-up vibes that will have you punching the air. knowledge is another banger with powerful kicks and globular bassline run through with more ravey sirens, but this time is a little more haunted. crossing paths is all about a simple but effective bassline that bounces along and takes you with it in ways similar to an omar s joint, then wait is the most stripped back and mysterious of the lot with cosmic melodies panning about in a spacious and airy deep house groove. utterly timeless from start to finish, this is another massively effective offering from innershades.

nycs legendary sam records dropped the mysteriously named k.i.d.s dont stop- in 1981. it has it all trancey arpeggios, vocoders & vocals trading off with each other, brass & some heavyweight disco drums that helped propel it forth into the hallowed category of club classic. the record perfectly suited the open minds and open ears of discerning disc jocks in locales such as new york and chicago where this sublime piece of electronic disco sleaze would get plenty burn on the city s infamous wbmx thus having a huge impact, along with a whole host of other similar records, on the burgeoning house scene that was germinating in the fertile mid western soil. b-side cut do it again is a pleasant enough early 80 s disco jam, but compared to the futuristic burner that is dont stop on the other side theres one clear winner. a must have for all cosmic, disco, funk aficionados. now made available again, legitimately licensed, remastered and reissued in conjunction with sam records new york city.

keeping with the rough release rate of an album every couple of years, prime numbers label boss trus me is back with his fourth full length, planet 4. featuring nine cuts of intergalactic techno and once again marking a considerable sonic evolution for this acclaimed uk artist. never one to do the same trick twice, david james wolstencroft uses his latest album as a vehicle for his own interest in deep space, physics and dark matter. it is those subjects that have occupied his mind in recent years, and those subjects that inform this brilliantly otherworldly album. where previous lps have variously been funk and soul heavy, or openly analogue and physical, this one is a more subtle and supple techno affair that is as cerebral as it is seductive. starting with a monologue that suggests that man has already landed on mars, 1979 is a cut that immediately places you somewhere in orbit. spooky synths and sci-fi sounds are eerie and atmospheric and very much set a perfect tone. from there, there is slow, elastic and unsettling mood music on the unexplained , deep and insular techno on dark flow and trippy dan bell style minimalism on ring round heart . the second half of the lp touches on chunky dub, manic and melodic grooves. this is a coherent statement that holds together conceptually and musically. as well as providing plenty of dynamite for the more discerning dance floor, planet 4 is also a delightfully detailed affair that will work just as well on headphones late at night.

last year saw the mysterious garage shelter make their debut appearance on skylax, and little is still known about them! all we know is they are back with some freshness on the skylax classic sublabel. first up is bring back love, a track that will sink its claws in with that infectious vocal sample hook. sticking with the old school sample vibe is the lonely heart dub of attempt, it’s a bit more mellow but still has plenty of groove in it. friend of the garage shelter, dj la foudre, appears over on the b side with it’s alright (signal st mix). still on that catchy sample tip, it features one of the grooviest bassline and funky guitar pairings i’ve heard in a long time. next up, perception 66 is a smooth house affair from yet another friend, asa no hikari. rounding out the package is garage shelter’s own you (still), a dreamy pad-driven track that may indeed be the pick of the release. while we don’t know much about garage shelter, we can’t help but look forward to what they come out with next!

fantastic voyage’s autumn 2015 release of soul for dancers proved so successful, that we didn’t have to think twice when lois wilson (mojo, record collector) asked if she could do it all over again. it turns out that there were plenty more classic sides in her dj crates, drawing on that rich seam of early soul and proto-soul rhythm & blues, of the sort that would have packed the dancefloors on the sixties club scene, or has been embraced by subsequent generations of club soul diehards.

with the telepathy ep, new talent dalvik debuts on vinyl with four high-quality, classic underground house tracks. -real- starts off as a deep, prescription underground inspired track, yet with plenty of fresh new ideas and a voice sampling to be recognized. -after glow- is a slower hypnotic synth journey perfect for the early morning dj set or to chill to the day after. the b-side starts off with a peak hour house slammer, serving as a nice complement to the deeper a side. the final track is a more leftfield, experimental journey, with vocal snippets and trippy synths. the under the radar label romb records delivers another dj favorite!

ark & pit spector continue their inspired journey with an extended ep full of groovy jams and absorbing rhythms for hold youth. the frenchmen have formed a potent alliance with a series of expertly-crafted, high-quality releases dropping over the last couple of years. on this new ep they go deeper into their sound explorations with five original works and a remix from their parisian buddy and hold youth member, le loup. first up, we go into bumping jazzy territory with ‘chauffage central’, a mesmerising cut with swirling pads, soulful vocal clips and a jaunty b-line. straight up after that, hold youth rudeboy le loup gives ‘chauffage central’ a funky little rework, throwing live sounding percussion, nubian vocal clips, trumpet parps and a pumping bassline into the mix which gives a totally different identity. the final track on side a, is a cheeky teaser called ‘petite ondée’. rolling out for just under two minutes the track has a muffled, jazz-esque feel to it with a warm rolling bassline and bright, sparkling piano keys. on the flip we kick off with ‘air conditionelle’, a lush, retro feeling with those oh-so-familiar heavy-hitting eighties snare licks. the bassline takes you to a new york city street and the whole atmosphere is that of an old school nyc neighbourhood, while a spoken-word sample adds a human touch just before the track comes to an end. ‘sub tropical’ goes a little leftfield with an unusual combination of sounds in tandem with a pulsating low end, occasional sax licks and punchy percussion to give it plenty of energy. ‘averse et contre tous’ closes out the ep with a slothish ride into the sunset – ark and pit spector show their experimental side presenting an odd union between blues samples, gruff electronic sounds and piano keys. another triumphant effort from ark and pit spector, in fact, some of the finest work to date. make sure you check it out!

for our 50th release on delusions of grandeur we’re pleased to bring you seven exclusive tracks from a mighty-fine collection of both existing dog artists and veritable newcomers alike. kicking off part one we have rush hour regular nebraska who manages to successfully combine elements of wait for it... trance and broken beat into an altogether more exciting and amazing way than that actually sounds on paper. organic, sampled drums with plenty of grit and dirt lay down a groove whilst spacey synth arps and an almighty break (in a subtle way) make this something of an epic which all of us here have fallen for in a big way.

israeli-born berlin based producer and dj omer debuts his first release on cocktail d amore with two offerings of celestial house. the title cut blends the sounds of the east with an immediately seductive atmosphere of bright melodies leaving the listener plenty of room to be transfixed through it s entirety. -dust- dives deeper to reveal a more melancholic mood built on a symphony of lush pads and swirling metallic percussion. on remix duties are the wonderfully quirky estonian duo ajukaja & andrevski who deliver an oddball re-imagining which sends the original into outer space as it gently builds to sparkling fervor only heard on the outskirts of galaxies. rounding out the release is man power with an acid tinged burner which explodes into en excitement of live percussion and pads leaving any dance floor in complete ecstasy.

mono junks dum records has been dictating trends in the world of minimalistic techno since the 1990s, and its 34th release is as special as any. this one comes from label boss kimmo rapatti aka mono junk vs mesak, who is better known as fellow finn, tatu metsätähti, aka one half of mr velcto fastener and someone who has released on dexter & steffis klakson. together the pair serve up three mixes of their jam and an additional track. title track deep in my mind is a paranoid techno cut with freaky vocal riffs repeating the title as gurgling synth lines and sleek drums rumble below. twitchy synths and high pressure perc add to the hypnotic effect, and overall its easy to see this one making for some perfectly weird dance floor moments. the mix by mono junk is completely the opposite: in his hands it is a beat-less, serene and beautifully styled electro cut that takes you deep into brain soothing space. the electro mind version is then a full on electro jam, with plenty of aqueous synths and fluid lines all squiggling along in classic detroit style. final track sysdrum is back to the raw, with angsty drum lines, crisp and slapping snares and oodles of reverb all making for a brain frying trip.

this may be james hunters fourth album, but it is his first on daptone. produced by daptones own bosco mann (gabriel roth) at penrose recorders (daptone west) near his home in riverside, ca, hold on! is a perfect por trait of an ar tist at the top of his game. james hunter has been on the scene for enough years to acquire plenty of feathers in his cap. billboard charts, grammy nominations, and van morrison collaborations aside, he has earned an international reputation as a rhythm and blues troubadour for his command of the microphone both on stage and in studio. this album, however, is something far deeper than just another notch in his belt. it is truly an ar tists vision come to fruition. the vinyl lp includes a download code.

mosco fell asleep and awoke days later with red axes. this is their joint offering for the esp institute. dikembe manutu, the fictional character whos name gives title to our thumping a side, establishes a lush theme based on meandering steel drums and reverberating toms while a slew of rich percussion leads us through the jungle on a melodic galloping bassline. once this deep groove gets us rolling, were treated to a variety of twinklling melodies that float high above. on side b, rage in the cage is a true live drum machine jam, full of bleeps, detuned toms, abrasive cymbals, and plenty of left turns. we can only imagine the mood in the studio as these three old friends frantically smacked buttons and tweaked knobs, creating happy accidents and loving every menacing moment of chaos as they stirred this cauldron. these two songs will make you thirst for exotic nectars.

constant sound founders jon woodall and burnski helm the label s latest 12inch under their constant name, with dub life featuring remixes from blackhall & bookless, s.a.m and a scott. dub life is a slithering, slippery and frictionless house roller with tunnelling percussive patterns, restless drums and myriad synth smears that really pull you down into a seductive groove. subtle vocals add character and ensure this one will keep floors locked for days. jaunt pair blackhall & bookless then step up with a fired up, peak time techno leaning bomb with barrelling kicks, ravey stabs and detroit referencing pads that really grab your attention. the s.a.m. reshape then offers up elastic, spaced out deep house vibes with airy hi hats, lots of height in the drums and plenty of feeling in the slithering synth lines that lace up the track. closing out the package is a remix from returning label artist a scott, whose fine remix is a lovably flabby and cavernous track with oodles of reverb, rattling train track like grooves and atmospheric pads that swirl all around you as you drift in his air beats.

rezzett are arguably one of the trilogy tapes goto acts. the london duo has previously released a trio of impressive, off-kilter eps of fuzzy house and techno jams for will bankheads much-loved imprint. happily, zik zak is every bit as essential as their previous material, expertly blurring the boundaries between techno, experimental electronics, and distorted hardcore. while the drowsy-but-sweaty hey hugo all sampled vocal yelps, sweeping chords and clattering percussion is probably the most obviously ear-catching of the four cuts, theres plenty to get excited about elsewhere. check, for example, the intricate electronics and eyes-closed loveliness of the title track, and the fluid melodiousness of opener afyon or, for that matter, the comforting bliss of ep closer noklue.

after a brief hiatus komplex de deep and its chief protagonist master-h make a welcome return together to present the label’s twenty second release. in his very own words, -this is a new me-, h is now ready to unveil new music having been holed away in the studio for months on end mastering an array of new hardware and analog processes. the french producer is also challenging himself with the recording, locking down each individual track live and in one take. an art that was practiced by many of the jazz greats in their heyday and one that has also influenced the title of the new release - ’soul take’. as with all master-h productions we are drawn to the detail and emotion. ‘somba people’ with its inviting tribal rhythm pairs traditional african song with a warm and enveloping blanket of strings, handclaps and bass. the title track ramps things up with its bobbing drums, stabbing synth and echoing cowbell. one take and plenty of soul. komplex de deep are also happy to announce that they are now a strictly limited vinyl only label.

can t joke with dexy is the opener here and is a bumpy, edgy house cut with tense and nervy keys jangling above a roughshod drum line. it grows ever more dark and comic and things roll on before faith is a more breezy, airy house groove. the drums here dance a nimble dance, thin synths and emotive chords all come in rich layers and a lo-fi percussive line proves how frey can conjure up idiosyncratic sounds with ease. like its title suggest, ghosts is a hauntingly atmospheric track with icy hi hats, pixel thing and hugely melancholic chords and harmonic bells all adding a sense of calm and serenity to turbulent drums deep down below. lastly, scale is a sub 100bpm crawler with fat elastic synths strung up between lazy kicks. two filtered spoken word lines add plenty of weirdness to this soupy bit of cosmic seduction and round out an ep that is stuffed with fresh ideas and great sonic invention.

after making a great impression with its first ep, giant records serves up a second hot helping of house music from boss man grant dell, complete with fresh remixes by scottish techno stalwarts silicone soul. dell, also known as chicago transit authority, has been doing his do for 25 years now. as a dj he is at home in clubs in ibiza and barcelona as well as around the rest of europe, and is someone who always prefers to push his own brand of widely infused and influenced music than his own profile. once again here he comes up trumps with the emotive, glowing house cut ‘in your mind’. with a neat bassline and mid tempo house drums, subtle but effective synth smears add warmth and colour to the groove, whilst soul fuelled vocals add a real sense of personality. this is sure to get people grooving at any hour and comes with grant’s own space echo remix. as the title suggests it’s a more dubby and reverb rich affair with cosmic signifiers and sci-fi vibes pervading from start to finish. silicone soul need little introduction having been at the heart of real deep house and techno for decades on the soma label. their first remix is a darkroom dub - named after their own label - and is a seductively slo-mo and lazily unfolding house cut with languid synths that really suck you in. their lush hypnohouse mix is then a twinkling, late night bit of melodically rich deep house with starry skies twinkling above sombre chords. this is a patiently served but hugely alluring ep that is stuffed with plenty of tender feeling. one again then, both grant and giant have come up with the goods.

despite the fact moon harbour is celebrating 15 years in action this summer, they still have plenty of time for new music. next up is label regular sable sheep with three brand new cuts that all continue in his fine tradition of serving up surefire dancefloor bombs.

tomoki tamura s essential and refreshing label, holic trax collects together new house heat for a third volume of it irregular tom tam club series. across both a digital and 2 x 12- vinyl release the compilation offers plenty of club-ready highlights. having released music from producers around the world including rick wade, burnski, tuccillo and many more, the label has become a favourite with djs and dancers alike. now it turns to a mix of new and more established names for a collection of eight new cuts that offer something for everyone.

up first is gigolo, a spare and weird house cut with sine waves and random claps, hunched drums and trippy synth lines. it s a unique track made in a unique way and will lead to plenty of freaky dance floor moments, for sure. co. art is a whacked out techno cut with slap-funk claps, blistering and blistered synth lines and a rugged bit of bass underlining it all. the track is cavernous and metallic, empty and distant as if it somehow survived a nuclear blast. on the flip, alzheimer is a slow and gurgling, swampy techno number with broken drums and crawling synths that sound like their batteries have run down. icy, watery melodies eventually rain down, but the track remains resolutely eerie. last of all, fabric is another decaying track with subtle, heavily filtered synths and drums all making for a minimal groove that is barely there.

yaleesa hall has released solo tracks and remixes on the will & ink label before now, and here returns with four new cuts on the perrin ep. the unknown producer turned plenty of heads with its first full outing, and the stripped back but succulent sounds on offer here will surely do the same again. rubber kicks rolling beneath little flecks of static and raw metal texture. wonky synth lines riding up and down. this is expertly hypnotic, over sized and cavernous techno that will suck you in, sweep you up and trap you in a perfect trance.

the fine folks at moton, that will be diesel and jarvis, hook us up with something a little special this summer, slimming their usual 12- format down into superb colored 7 inches of edit delights... sister to sister does its thang with plenty of soul and sass, blowing our minds with far out funk, and full on frequencies. last but not least, diesel and jarvis go beachcombing with the blue eyed boogie off flipping it over we are the sunset, is a jazzed out, funked up cut ripe for early hours or end of night play.

seahawks and their pal eddie c join forces on red motorbike records to create an ep of dreamy innerspace travel music, lush blissed-out interstellar synth pad dreams for the weary space explorer, washing over your mind and body like a cool solar wind, as you take in the luxuriant beauty of the local galaxies. gentle, flowing keyboard melodies that disarm and relax, well crafted electronic rhythms, uplifted melodies and plenty of really nice saturated vibraphone. this is music carl sagan would smoke weed to, music that swirls and flutters through the rays of light reflected by the sheen on this production.

we welcome to the label two extremely talented sound sculptors from mexico, kaban & di rugerio. both boast a string of innovative sounds released on some top notch labels, but here they have teamed up to bring us something really special. *overflow* is a swirling nemesis of a track, with crashing drums and tribal percussion flowing around huge electrical pulses that inject pure energy into the dancefloor.
boom merchant follows up last years hugely successful *stars/green symphony* with another perfect balance of rhythmic and melodic elements. *surge* is a track that always generates a huge reaction, built around a tight groove with plenty of action in the low end. it is literally smeared with electrical charge and doused in layers of harmonic goodness.

nologo is back with 2 essential, tried and tested underground club tracks. orlando b serves up side a with dark world, an epic, slow burning, dark-house journey. dark world begins completely stripped back before the main hook, an eerie hypnotic vocal is introduced. funky percussive elements creep in which drive the piece forward and a deep minor pad heightens the tension setting the tone for the rest of the track. the energy builds gradually with the addition of a 303 bass line peaking just before the end, taking the listener on a dark hypnotic trip. on the flip, is none other than house & techno legend mr g who uses the dark world vocal but takes it somewhere new providing his own unique and distinctive flavour. mr gs rum remix is a dark and twisted peak-time banger, the high energy from the off set perfectly complementing the slower vibe of the original. plenty of sub and twisted synth action keeps the momentum high and the dark stab he uses punctuates the vocal nicely giving it a raw edge. dark world is an essential addition to the record bag for darker dancefloors. dj deep: i love this, your remix is super funky and dark at the same time!!! dope! tom (panorama bar): ufff nice and dark.....another mr g gem. to be served with the rum rush...
