third release on dj solid states (society records) new all out war imprint, and hes brought on board the legendary al kent (million dollar disco) following in greg wilsons footsteps, million dollar discos al kent now delivers 2 peak-time edits for all out war… first up -delirious steals francine mcgees delirium bassline and heads off on a disco odyssey with madcap latin percussion, searing brass, synthetic whooshes and intricately funky rhodes breaks… check the dazzling musicianship and production on this cut - dance floor demolition guaranteed! all out wars solid state first heard this edit the last time al played for his society nights, about 3 years ago. in a set packed full of stunning rarities, delirious was a real standout and had me rushing to the booth for an id, so i know the impact it has – just an amazing track! brock party on the flipside is archetypal al kent territory: a ghetto disco workout with call and response vocals, funky brass, a heavy bass line and that foot stomping breakdown… scarce indie disco of the raw and funky kind. proving just as popular as delirious in feedback, it completes a stunning double-header. as youd expect from al kent, both source tracks are stooooopid rare on vinyl, so grab the edits while you can!

the environmental radiation dose on the moon ep is the first collaboration between zooloft and aconito records. the two labels are twinned in exploring the limits of techno, experimenting with structures and sequences and ultimately arriving at the place where the deep and dark sublimes. the ep opens with the child that was watching the moon a track lifted right out of the drone-techno hymnal. it starts with muddied, subterranean bass and builds not just outwards but inwards. filled with obtuse references and metallic rasps the atmosphere created is obscure and spectral. on the reverse the moon that was watching the child sounds like its been exposed to radiation. the sounds are distorted, as if created from samples of the genome unzipping. the arrangement is stunning, bells filter in and out and the layers smelt into one another. there is awe at work here, but its an awe that remains underpinned by terror. this release, mastered in berlin at the legendary calyx studio, is something of a record collectors dream. it will be released on solid silver vinyl in a very limited edition of just 200 copies. za000ltd should be enjoyed on wax, this wont be available digitally.

pablo mandelbrot claims to be from bar harbor, maine on the north-eastern coast of the u.s.a. when asked about his upbringing he mentions various occupations including sardine canner and quota negotiator as well as hinting at some dark years spent working in the aqua-culture industry. about his music he says little, summing up his productions with the cryptic declaration: >disco is a deep sea<. we are not entirely sure where or when the two tracks on this 12inch were recorded and the only information from mandelbrot himself is that he has sometimes collaborated with the late conny plankton (who also engineered these two tracks), a legendary figure of the maine/nova scotia electronic music scene. pablo also insists that both tracks are >under exclusive license from lob-starr records<, although we have never heard of this label and their representatives have yet to contact us. we hope you enjoy these two slices of hypnoboogie disco, smoked, cured and de-boned for your convenience.
