justin berkovi normally should not need an introduction, being involved in multiple techno-projects in the past, and still standing strong nowadays. his track ‘old timer’ reflects his musical personality and history and is being reinterpreted by another techno-historian, aubrey. on the b-side newcomers jack dixon and henning baer make their introduction on other heights with two total different interpretations which are to become oldtimers themselves.

modularz is on fire! with another powerful release by developer this time getting together with techno producer jeroen search delivering a driving remix of orgins. jeroen search gained his early recognition by releasing on jeff mills axis sub label 6211 as well as a wealth numerous releases that date back from the 90s. dont sleep on this one - it is released in limited numbers and is already being hammered by all the top techno talents in the world.

after his very well recieved through motion ep in 2011 the now londonbased producer returns to aus with the much-anticipated placement ep. staying true to his roots, he delivers four tracks that contribute to the continuing conversation between techno, house, garage and beyond. with a strong focus on intricate detail, lush texture and glacial melody the ep is just as captivating on headphones as it is on the dance floor. the placement ep is currently being remixed by motor city drum ensemble & lone and the fruits of their work will be released as a 12inch single on aus in april so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

bill youngman has become one of the most important parts of the killekill family. his new record displays his wide range of interests: from dark techno in shadent he crosses over to drone monster alert in wespe to his very own style of melodic electro in centrumcircuit. about bill youngman: scandinavia, tresor, null etc., bill has from day one been producing a lot of excellent other stuff. for exam- ple, he released one album of the finest electronica on depth charge’s dc recordings under the alias audible, several great eps of electro on serotonin and recently remixed jamie lidell in a rather techy dubstep style for warp. bill doesnt follow trends and dislikes being categorized into one stale genre and so perfectly fits into the killekill master plan. expect several eps from him on killekill in the future. bill will furthermore attempt to push the threshold of modern electronic music production.

the dirty dutch! anticlub a notorious collective from eindhoven, the southern capital of holland, was inspired to push itself into a new direction. the inspiration came from a painting by an old lady that drew the attention and gave the impulse to create the album freaks and followers. as the title suggests there are two kinds of people, people who take risks and people who do not. as anticlub used to be a risk-taker but slowly settled in an unwanted comfort zone, this created dissatisfaction and led to a creative standstill. seeing the painting everything became clear again. one should not stand still but keep moving and evolve oneself into new areas that one has not yet explored creatively. as lessismore is from the same dutch city, this state of mind also hit the lessismore label, which inevitable resulted in both parties joining forces to release this diverse album by a former underground techno crew called anticlub. as the lessismore label is known for its typically styled techno, lessismore was searching for a new impulse sound wise and visually, to ensure creative satisfaction in the years to come. with this album everything came together and the lessismore crew reunited to renew their input into the label, which was once founded to be a creative platform and an artistic journey and in retrospective clearly not a platform where one should repeat itself time after time. freaks and followers is an 8 track album with raw electronic based music combined with a variety of vocal work by different new anticlub members. the overall feel of the album is a dark punky attitude that reminds of the good old days of rave, which in the early nineties dominated the dutch club and party scene. this period can be defined as being careless and not taking credibility into account, trying new things, being blunt and just partying your hart out. being older this is a feeling that will never have to die, proved by the old lady whose painting was used as the art-work of the album release.

mike shannon steps up to the cityfox ltd plate and squeezes the jack juice on his latest offering for cityfox ltd entitled foxology. its a 3 track session of deep jazzy basslines and smooth cuts. we start things off with >foxology feat. flowing<, a twistedly deep smoothy of a house cut with shannons signature shuffle groove and warped dynamic basses featuring some wicked blues harp action from amsterdams flowing. foxologys b-side is home to >foxwell< and >zukunftstrasse<, the former being a rather hot number bubbling with bouncing bass, whereas >zukunftstrasse< is even more laid back and down tempo, while still playing your mind with it’s sonic insight to the distant future.

a double helping of killer cosmic rarities from legendary miami-based disco label t.k., bringing together two super-obscure cuts from 1979 - queen samanthas amazing progressive electronic disco odyssey >take a chance< and the heavy soul/funk epic >cosmic funk< from the wonderfully-named mad dog fire department. the queen samantha track is eight minutes of slow-burning disco bliss - a bubbling mid- tempo monster with awesome percussion, super-funky bassline and the queens glorious soaring vocals which caused mayhem on the dance&#64258,,,oors at mancusos loft and levans warehouse as well as being a fave on the early ny breakbeat/hiphop scene with afrika bambaata giving it some heavy rotation. flip over for mad dogs extremely hard to &#64257,,,nd >cosmic funk<, a grooving grinding low-slung workout featuring hypnotic chanting vocals and some wild synth action. remastered for top-quality sound, this double a-sider is a must for lovers of that heavy t.k. sound.

despite the doors being closed on dissident in 2009, former boss andy blake has been anything but quiet, with his world unknown imprint bringing the acid and ebm sounds of his night of the same name to the world. now hes started another label, in plain sight, which looks set to bring more esoteric house sounds to our ears, with the first release coming from the hitherto unknown youngtee. the first track, >dr chocolate< fuses the kind of oddball low-slung sounds and spoken-word samples that in flagranti have been masters of for years, with jazzy keys and 808 cowbells which hint at a subtle chicago influence. the classic house influence continues of >perfect model<, which combines misty chords with an 80s pop groove, falsetto vocal sample and synth jam solo which comes across as alternate universe michael jackson track. as youd expect from a label curated by blake, its house music, but not quite as you know it.
