a side >under< from evol intent featuring vocals from singer/song writer jackie b. this dubstep track is dark, sexy, melodic, and poppy, with a bass riff and drums that encourages you to urgently to hit the dance floor, and shake your ass. the vocals are sexy and consistent. she reminds me of esthero in how she can make underground production sound so polished. yet she can take you places emotionally because she makes intelligent choices her vocal tonality. the production is dark, and sounds like a eerie episode of a twin peaks score. you will be hearing lots more music from her really soon. she is also a great producer as well. after being wowed by christian smiths superb remix of carl craigs >at les< the legendary underworld listed it as one of their tunes of 2010 thereby planting a seed in the veteran producers mind. a mutual appreciation and the aforementioned events have resulted in smiths biggest remix yet – the reworking of underworlds seminal >dark & long<. coming in two versions, both of which have won immense support from the band themselves, the christian smith remixes of >dark & long< take the track in to new territories respectfully and skilfully. the tronic treatment mix preserves the vibe of the original perfectly while adding a condensed but slow burning feeling of tension which explodes into the epic break we all know and love. the hypnotica dub version underpins karl hydes classic vocal refrain and the rich synths of the original with an ever-changing, guttural monster of a bassline that adds a whole load of understated aggression without ever taking over the wonderful melodies.

new york noise describes the period in history (1978-88) where new york art and music collided. beginning in the mid-1970s, new york city s soho and east village became a hot-bed of musical and artistic ideas. owing to new property laws, downtown new york and its many warehoure and loft spaces became the home of artists, bands, filmmakers, studios, art galleries and more. in this small area partically every musican was also an artist, every artist a filmmaker and every filmmaker was in a band. this scene is documented over a vibrant ten year period and the book includes pictures of jean-michel basquiat, david byrne, suicide, keith haring, glenn branca, esg, madonna, laurie anderson, philip glass, afrika bambaataa and hundereds more previously unseen photographs. with accomanying text from david byrne, laurie anderson, cindy sherman and more, this is an essential record of a fascinating era in new york s cultural history.

the first world unknown 12 inch kicks off with a slamming piece of prototype house from glasgows naum gabo aka jonnie wilkes from optimo and his production partner james savage. showing that a relatively low pace doesnt mean any drop in energy levels and dancefloor pump power, whop! cracks along like something from an alternate reality version of 1980’s chicago. its as easy to imagine it rocking the house at medusas or the box as it is to envision it in the present day soundtracking some kind of bizarro fetish party or a particularly intense session at berghain’s lab-oratory. this is jacking in the true sense of the word. on the flip side italian born berlin resident franz underwear ups the tempo with a stunning piece of slamming european musclebeat. shades of ibiza 88-89 pervade here, the kind of pumping, chunky synth action, teutonic vocal exhortations and vaguely menacing but ultimately benign vibe that sent thousands of potty european kids totally round the bend and changed the world of dance music forever.

mojuba is very proud to present a new little daughter to the label family called mojuba underground. from now on mojuba underground will be the home for unforgettable, rare, obscure licensed tracks that left a huge impression on us during all the years at the clubs. the start is made by tyree aka tyree cooper with nothin wrong licensed from a classic dance mania 12i&#770,,,,,, released way back in 1995. this track has the magic combination of being emotional and soulful in terms of house and straight forward funky and kicking in terms of techno. most of you will remember this track from 2010 as ben klock included it in his berghain 04 mix cd on ostgut ton!
