frankfurt based producer, dj and music lover martin heimann presents his debut single salto on carry on 008. remaining faithful to its name, the small label puts out another piece of limited wax every once in a long while. enrooted in the soundscapes of 80s proto house the original version of salto is a thriving piece of octave liberation. consistent changes between harmonics break up the repetitive structure, while fm pads and the 303 are performing a little duet. the release is ennobled by two proper remixes from moon b (peoples potential unlimited) and jex opolis (good timin). while moon b keeps it bubblin’ with some extra analogue funk bounce and subtle italo dance floor energy, the b-side is jexi-fied with some embellishment to the cords, change in the bassline and a nice 808 snap. on top mr. opolis adds some mysterious but cheesy vocals samples that match perfect with the moody 80s orchestral stabs.

in 2006, tim arndt released the first near the parenthesis album “go out and see”. arndt had intended to follow up that release with a more beatless ambient album, where percussion was left to the side and composition took center stage. a shelved idea that we now get the benefit of a full ten years later. this new album helical is the realization of arndt s stripped down ambient concept. helical features arndt’s characteristic experimental modem classical instrumentation and compositional style, but slows things down and stretches them out. the focus on the organic is clear, but moments of ethereal breath weave in and out and prevent the album from becoming too self aware. helical, as a loose reference to the geometric structure of our very dna and it contains themes that are driven by a recent discovery of arndt’s past and ancestry. the release seamlessly stitches all of these concepts together and marks an unique release and new direction for arndt’s near the parenthesis.

terence fixmer his known in the late 90s , early 2000s as the creator of the tbm, described as techno body music. a mixture of the ebm soundscape with the modernity of techno. his muscle machine album (including tracks lile electrostatic, body pressure) released in 2001 became a reference of the genre. in 2003, musician terence fixmer and legendary singer from cultissism band nitzer ebb, douglas j mccarthy embarked on a project that spearheaded the fusion of techno and ebm. they named it fixmer/mccarthy and they were the precursor to a new breed of techno artists that manage to traverse between an array of scene specific genres without being tied to any. since releasing their first album, >between the devil<, in 2003 terence and douglas have ridden the line between pure techno and the recognizable song structure of classic electronic music and ebm. now, with over 13 years working together for this project and playing around the world, they return to their signature raw sound and delivery. >so many lies< is quintessential and brooding techno, while the instinct mix epitomizes their ability to craft a catchy bubbling baseline whilst all the while dispatching cold steel aggression.

moving forward in time we find the alter ego known as anomaly facing a complex coded structure. reinterpreting it into rhythms of the hypnotic order & releasing the signals back into the deepest reaches of space beyond our known galaxy into what is known as the phantom zone.

defined as an independent entity, drawing its inspiration from the deconstructed walls of an imaginary and utopian society where music is king and artist is servant, forsaken cell is a paris and lyon based structure composed of a small ravers community, aimed to show an indie, radical and experimental face of the french underground scene.after showing a raw and anarchic vision of techno with deikean s debut release, the forsaken cell keeps on exposing a radical and experimental face with, this time, a brighter and oniric aspect. this ep, debut of the&#30703,,&#28608,,solid system, presents itself as a fine mix of industrial and psychedelic textures inspired by the diversity and eclecticism ubiquitous in the rave culture. thus this character, as discreet as he is, shows up at the scene: naked, assuming from the outset to be as much influenced by the bass music sharp rhythmic and dusty textures of industrial dub techno, that warm colorings and transcendent sounds of psychedelic music

high mobility weapons unit sets off from an unknown location on earth, making its maiden voyage beyond our solar system and towards a distant galaxy. the transverse velocity ep is the debut release on the self-titled imprint, serving up four original tracks that are heavily influenced by mechanical cycles and deep space concepts. the a-side kicks off with the eps title track transverse velocity, where an array of eroded satellite bleeps and waves loop together as the analogue low-end pulsates rhythmically below. in wave 102 the bleeps are detuned and erratically timed, with a glitchy tape delay unit modulating them throughout the track. the saturated 808 kick drum and processed percussion are given a functional structure, allowing the bleeps to take centre stage. on the b-side, both cycle 01 and astronomy tool serve as stripped-back percussive dj tools. cycle 01 rolls along with its hollow, muted polyrhythmic stab line, whilst astronomy tool drives forward with an effective, crystalline synth hit. mastered by black monolith studios.

the first self titled album from emptyset is reissued. released in 2009 the material formed the initial departure within emptysets ongoing exploration of time, structure and analogue technology. the album highlights the projects development and the foundation of their studio based production process, forming the first part of a tryptic spanning across demiurge, released in 2010 with subtext and the 2013 raster-noton album recur. the eponymous debut creates the first point within this narrative, initiating a dialogue between full frequency audio, noise and the emergent properties of sound, and the starting point for their contained sonic approach.
