12 Inch

shakarchi & straneus are faik and daniel, two bffs from gothenburg who are making some of the most catchy, emotional and well crafted dance music we have heard in a long time. both had been involved in music for a while when they started working together at their hometowns top tapas joint, manana. in between washing dishes and serving patatas bravas, the boys would burst out short tracks and sound experiments in the makeshift studio they had set up inside mananas cloakroom. this led to a debut 12 inch on malmo based geography recordings and now comes their five track ep >dodskallar och korallrev<: studio barnhus second release, the best swedish house record since jesper dahlbacks >what is the time mr. templar?<, something we are immensely proud of being able to release.

short about the label: a joint effort between prins thomas and word and sound- the idea behind the label is to put out good music and not limiting ourselves to stick with a specific genre, instead opting to stay fresh and individual with each release going in every direction we feel. we are gonna be highlighting new talent, re-releasing some lesser known nuggets and certainly give you some dancefloor killers along the way to. from japanese techno to california kraut : ) just the way we like it… im very glad to introduce yet another member to out internasjonal >family<. mathew senick aka mathew leutwyler. mathew got in touch through the web from mexico and it took us only a brief listen to this troika of wonderful sounds to convince us. now decide for yourself if theres something wrong with my ears….. ps: my computer tells me hes had releases out on perspectiv and traum, ill definitely investigate further, so should you

H.R. BOSS / BANNED
12 Inch
17.01.11
the power of lauer is indisputable. blessed with the uncanny ability to make hooks that would make bone thugs-n-harmony jealous in their heyday, phillip lauer is – pardon us – the melody man. his newest tour de force comes in two parts for our beloved live at robert johnson label. similar sounding to the legendary harmonizer (as if you would care), h.r. boss is new- romantic -italo -not -italowave that puts love on top of love (i.e. the aforementioned melodies). wouldnt sound out of place in sophie marceaus notorious la boum walkman. forbidden fruit is the sweetest. a little less full-bodied, yet as disarming, banned goes straight ahead with its ripply bass line, wheezing strings, a killer arrangement that completely deserves the tracks name plus a groove that wont stop. feels like delta nrgs filthy little brother. delectable! put on your red shoes

THE AFRO CUBAN EP
12 Inch
17.01.11
the seventh release on dva records comes from a young, unknown resident of manchester named gugu. staying true to the dva style, his two tracks are fine examples of todays hybrid funky house scene, maintaing the 4 to the floor drum patterns whilst drawing on a wide range influencesà and as it suggests in the epÆs title, is packed full of cuban flava. straight up music designed to make people dance. it wouldnÆt be right to get a dva release without a feature from the man himself, rinse fmÆs grimey breakfast show host mr scratcha dva. as a slight deviation from the norm û and in a way a return to the styles his earlier production û dva lays down a heavyweight slice of synth laden half step, defiantely one to pull your dirty face too. check it out and get back to us with your thoughts.
OPEN YOUR EYES EP (501 / HLZ RMXS)
12 Inch
17.01.11
the subdivision return home to paradise lost with the open your eyes ep: epic vibes, hypnotic bass work, and complex programming manifest themselves as what might be considered their best work to date, and surely a production which defines their unique style for building cinematic tracks of epic proportions. the structure is trademark tsd: a beautifully drawn-out breakdown compliments the progressively building tension, leading to a thunderous climax toward the end. this tune is more of a journey than simply a dj tool (although its a treat to mix with), and djs such as bunzer0, djunya, 501 and claw have used it to devastating effect in the mix.

the latest from thesongsays brings back one of our main players - bruno pronsato. whats he been up to you might ask? aside from completing his album lovers do, working on music with thomas melchior and daze maxim and putting out records as pubic lover with our leading lady ninca leece, not much… maybe hes been in the rafters sipping coffee or understudying for bigger roles. who knows. nonetheless he’s back. these two new tracks come from his upcoming lp, lovers do. its a single, sort of. but not really. because when has bruno ever done a single like we know a single? this 12-inch is about as far as you could get from club fodder. rather, its a pair of subtle grooves to soundtrack you cutting carrots, sipping whiskey, or dancing at some intimate afterhours spot

selected advent deal - 7th sign is proud to announce a very special release. formerly of the g-strings label out of chicago (first heard in 1990), this is truly a classic rarity that now takes pride of place in the 7th sign catalogue. this newly re-mastered issue features all the original tracks, including the classic title cut with its haunting strings and kraftwerk-esque mechanical groove. all the tracks have a very deep minimal arrangement and production and each stands up against todays modern backdrop. this is a real gem and a great time capsule of chicago house from back in the day. this release offers a rare opportunity to own a rare record that has assumed classic status and price.

2x12 Inch LP
12.01.11
bjorn torske is a special artist with a special name. he was born in northern norway where fishing has been the main industry for hundreds of years and his name literally translates as >bear cod<. even making dinner is unique in norway: you put the potatoes on to boil, go out to sea and catch a fish, then return to prepare the meal…this process is known as >kokning<. to say that northern norwegians do things their own way would be putting it lightly … to say that bjorn torske is making music his own way would be exactly right.

THE CLEARING (IAN POOLEY REMIX)
12 Inch
10.01.11
vincenzo certainly needs no introduction as one of the dessous and poker flat camps central artists. now he is gearing up to release his next full-length album in 2011, the first single to be featured is the breathtaking >the clearing<. beautifully warm and overflowing with atmosphere, this anthemic modern ode to introspective moments on the dancefloor swirls and builds with incredible depth and clarity. like opening the door to a secret garden full of wonders, this powerful moment of positivity sends unifying waves through clubland. the equally special dub version works the groove further with a straighter edge and an even later night theme emerges through the blissed out wash of chords and subtle harmonies. veteran producer ian pooley is enjoying a comeback of late with his classic soulful house sound once again brought back to the floors. his stunning remix pays tribute to all the power and emotion of the original, while cutting up some old-school flavours and laying down that classic pooley key-led funk.

TIMELESS ALTITUDE 2011 EP (SLAM & EGBERT REMIXES)
12 Inch
10.01.11
created back in 1994 by secret cinema, no one could have predicted how timeless this track would turn out to be! if you are in to electronic music and live on this planet, theres a 75 percent chance youll recognise the weird reversed, reverbed piano riff! now, for the first time, the original is available digitally with remixes by slam, egbert and secret cinema himself that made their way to vinyl as well. the massive techno tune from 94 is ready for a little update! it can be a challenge to remix a track with so much history, but all three managed to complement the original while giving a unique spin to the track. the secret cinema 2011 remix is a peak time main room power tool that will turn a big crowd into a riot any day. slam take a deeper, more subtle approach that can hypnotize and rock a main room crowd without blowing their wigs off. finally egbert takes the track to a warmer funkier level, equipped with a funk-filled bass line and some warm pads over the top. a truly timeless package!!

first on decks.de!! an outstanding record filled with a harmonic fusion of surprising musical contradictions.
a: ooh zoot: twinkle-toed minimal house spiced up with a jazz-flavoured funkiness. yet turmspringer easily manage to avoid the risk of staying superficial by flavouring the tune with with a unique strangeness.
b1: ooh zoot (laufmasche remix): the remix by laufmasche gets back to the essentials, produced with an elegant analogue feeling dominating the track and leading to an excessive peaktime eruption.
b2: in between 2 cigarettes: berlin based duett turmspringer tickles out the abstract minimal techno undertones >in between 2 cigarettes< garnished with vivid background noises. massive dancefloor capability!

supported by: reboot, dubfire, ewan pearson, samuel l session, raresh, tim xavier, christian smith,.. with oliver deutschmann & ed davenport polytone proceeds on its way to focus on exceptional artists who have something really profound to say musicwise. quite slowly, but highly stringently deutschmann and davenport build up this musical journey until, without really realising, youre in the middle of a very slamming house track of a truely oldschool kind which gains further drama due to subtle chord changes. in his remix, matthias vogt from motorcitysoul further emphasises the tracks house character by adding more chords and then lets the deepness culminate in a wonderful break. robert bosco totally breaks out of the traditional catgories house and techno and combines the best of both worlds in his remix distilling it to a kind of essence of electronic music. all three tracks have in common an immensely consistent approach and a pleasingly trend-resistant understanding of deep music
