the mighty flames were a crack bunch of cameroonian musicians, drawn to nigeria by the heavy funk sounds booming across the border like musical moths. for a short time in the late sentries they ‘owned’ port harcourt, destroying dancefloors with an incendiary sound that burned so heavily that it was phosphorescent. metalik funk band is the band at their most deadly.

ideepsum, sublee’s debut album, finds its home under the metereze name. the 6 tracks are spread across 2 records like seeds sharing the same fertile ground embodied in sublee’s creativity.

undo (gabriel berlanga) introduces his third album disconnect, with ten songs written, recorded and produced during 2015 and 2016. on disconnect undo blends different influences using both new and old analogue gear combined with digital plug-ins and fx to create his own recognizable sound after more than 10 years on the road. opening track “disconnect” finds undo playing with psychedelic synths and singing shyly. we also hear vocals but in a very diferent mood onthe funny, funky and sexy “computer friends” and on “autómatas”, an electro cut that demands a reaction against the established injustice. there are vocals as well on the last track of the album, this time with an epic vocoder because at the end “we’ve got to fight”. djs will likely gravitate toward the unstoppable trance synth of “the arptist”, the chug-techno tension on “acid prophet”, the shuffled beats and endless harmony of “setembre” and the dreamy melodies of “interferencias” and “sunmachine”.

after his 2012 starpatch release on red rack em s bergerac imprint it seemed seetheroad has retired from music. now he is back - as the very first uk artist in the history of tape hiss - with four twisted pieces halfway between techno and electronica. it’s a kind gesture to the label he gave a hungarian title to the ep. cédrus Út means cedar road, what was his previous location and inspired his artist name at the same time.

dubmasters come back strong on their second release on our catalog, with a heavily road tested banger. 12 bar disco is a caleidoscope of surfed out guitar riffs, dubby chops and vintage pads over a funky 90’s manchester synth bassline, that has proven to shake dance floors around the globe. for this e.p. the original is taken on a slight dubbed out deviation with tape delays taking the foreground on the mix, cosmic pads and extended psychedelic breakdown, definitely a monster.

few would challenge the claim that the 1960s and 70s have been the most fertile two decades in the history of popular music ever - a period which, regardless of genre, laid the foundations for everything that has followed. what is more, this period was so fertile that the speed with which tastes changed left a colossal amount of incredible music to gather dust - perhaps most famously a profusion of funk, soul and jazz. it was a musical legacy that lay mouldering until the rise of sampling in late 80s hip-hop precipitated a mad scramble for lost crates and suddenly, the music that became known as rare groove - for obvious reasons (it was rare and very groovy) - experienced a phoenix-like rebirth. a quarter of a century on and a million funk, soul, jazz-funk and rare groove compilations, re-presses and re-releases later, you d think that cupboard was bare and yet, even now, there are gems to be found. pt is re-releasing the rarest of cuts that often were originally only limited runs or private pressings and new compilation down & wired is just such a collection. always soulful, this features everything from mod groovers and northern stompers, to funky bumps and latin heaters. yet while the quality of all cuts is immediately apparent, only one of the eleven has ever been previously been compiled because when pt do rare, they don t mess around. in fact, if these tracks were steaks - they d still be walking around eating grass.
