stranger things- ist eine neue netflix-tv-serie, die gerade in deutschland gestartet ist und international gro§e wellen schlŠgt. die mystery-serie bietet jede menge referenzen an die 80er jahre, vergleiche zu steven spielberg und stephen king werden gerne gezogen. nicht weniger im fokus: der kongeniale soundtrack von kyle dixon & michael stein. von atmosphŠrischen stźcken bis hin zu treibenden synthie-pop reicht das musikalische spektrum. hier wird gerne eine parallele zu dem score von -drive- gezogen, wohl einem der ikonografischsten soundtracks der letzten jahre. der zweite teil des kult-soundtracks knźpft musikalisch nahtlos an seinen vorgŠnger an und bietet abermals synth heavy soundscapes in der tradition so gro§artiger filmkomponisten wie vangelis, john carpenter oder cliff martinez. die cd erscheint im digipak.

in keb darges own words: i ve done many a compilation in my day, mostly based around the tunes i played at my long running deep funk nights in madame jo jos. that night is no longer on the go, possibly due to a growing lack of interest on my part, (sorry). in the last few years the lost & found: nights at the club have been my real passion, and indeed little ediths and andy smiths passion too. what a marvelous era this is for good music. we may still have pure stuff like dub step: pulling in large numbers of sheep, but an equal number of youngsters are being attracted to retro, or at least retro sounding music. people tell me it is because the youth are fed up with computerized music, or men with drug problems angrily shouting at them over a dull repetitive beat, but i know lots of teenagers who have bypassed this muck all together. must be the internet that is helping kill off the demand for empty music. you no longer need to go to a retro club night, or indeed search out rare records to be exposed to good music, the internet is full of the stuff. my fifteen year old daughter is a marc bolan fan who while researching the poor fellows influences discovered chuck berry, sun records, etc, etc. i dont really know or understand why so many are at last getting into the good stuff, but they are, and it is wonderful for the likes of me.

exile began his musical career in 2000, releasing drum & bass on labels such as beta and moving shadow, but as the years progressed, his sound started to become more complicated and abstract. this was mostly due to his obsession with the reaktor software, which enabled him to spend much of his time creating new and interesting sounds from scratch. his debut full-length, 2006s pro agonist, saw him add elements of breakcore to his constantly mutating yper-breakbeats, but that gradual change in style is nothing compared to the total departure that hes taken on listening tree. long-term fans may be shocked to know that listening tree is peppered with exiles own vocal tracks, as he tackles issues such as britains buy-now-pay-later culture, and even the dynamic nature of the universe on family galaxy, the first single. >family galaxy< is about the constant process of change that underpins everything, explains exile. its a tale from a thingless world where nothing stays the same. as now shines its shifting shades on then, so our ideas of what we have done and will do continually morph.the result is an eccentric electro-pop album that is just as likely to appeal to fans of hot chip as it is otto von schirach
