oddball space disco tracks compiled from library tracks composed between 1975 and 1978. big tip!! from the early 70s to the mid-80s, this self-taught musician composed about twenty albums of production and library music with generic cover art and titles (out of the way, magical ring, keys of the future, pulsations, more and more, etc.) that evoke interstellar travel. these experimental discs, made with love, humility and rudimentary means, had no ambition other than to accompany other peoples images

this debut release takes the form of a various-artists three-tracker. a-side is benedikts kraft sein, a straightforward powerfunk stomper, generous with syncopated clap trickery and pounding kicks. through the industrial-tinted vibe, a game of filtered stabs and delayed resonances draws an enigmatic landscape.

stuck in the 9-5 grind, stifled by the impersonality of constant social media and mobile interaction, contemporary urban life can be suffocating. for a certain breed, release cannot be found in the vast, unpopulated great outdoors. urban animals congregate in heaving warehouses, seeking solace in the liberating beats of the kick drum. they are bound not by association, but through a shared experience of primal relief felt in those shadowy, dance floor corners swelling with the sounds of low end frequencies and brazenly sculpted grooves. this is the urban animals jungle.

sex tags mania warehouse find! this might not be one of those popular ware house finds you run into these days, but still, from a storage of a friend of a friend this got dug out. almost brand new but never sold in any amount - a german-french(?) 12 as great as the summer. straight to the b, you know that track you hear, not on any given sunday, but only the exeptionally good ones, the track that sonically floats around, though maybe being to euphoric, still gathers everybody in the area to some sort of silent agreement of peace. usually these musical pieces are found as single items on flee markets if you re a proper digger or have straight out beginners luck. maybe the world has turned up side down, because this beauty has german lyrics (with an instrumental following).

limited edition single sided white label. claude vonstroke teams up with jaw, lead singer of the notorious dop crew for a trippy slab of modern funk. this marks the very first time vonstroke has worked with a singer and we think the results are great. jaws smooth falsetto harks back to singers like curtis mayfield and the backing track is filled with trademark dirtybird flavor. the record is a slow building jam that builds into an almost church-like resolution filled with spiraling space echoes and organs that is sure to set off all the right rooms.

jean wells story is not an extraordinary one in the world of soul, although her voice certainly was. her biggest hit >have a little mercy< from 1967 was a glorious slice of deep soul, a plea to a lover, whom she is addicted to, but who doesn t seem to notice. her gospel-trained voice perfectly encapsulating those feelings, whilst a stark arrangement dominated by an ethereal organ and dramatic horn stabs heightens the unbearable effect this man is having on jeans life. yet at the time this record only reached number 25 in the r&b charts, just another bit of genius amongst many, thrown out by the black american music industry at one of its most creative and profligate periods.
jean left us with a fantastic recorded legacy, of which her recordings for clyde otis, which are gathered here, are the choicest cuts.

remixes from label owner kirk degiorgio and dutch maestro tj kong (erwin van moll aka max404) of >rapture< - the debut release from the different worlds duo claude young & takasi nakajima. degiorgios mix heads straight for the dancefloors peak time, whilst tj kong goes for a euphoric melodic take that is perfect for those early morning sets with its uplifting feel and gorgeous breakdown.

fresh from his triumphant return to detroits movement festival, where by all accounts he delivered the set of the weekend, claude young teams up with his different world co-hort takasi nakajima for their debut release on art. the original is no-nonsense but thoughtful future-tech, with plenty of analog modulations for the heads - and dance-floor thump for the party people. on the flip, the legendary ian o brien delivers a typically deep, detroit tinged remix with trademark warm bass and glistening top lines. ian planned to do one more mix-down of his remix when the huge earthquake earlier this year pretty much demolished his tokyo-based studio.

the -makeovers- project is a compilation of some of claudes best re-twists, some of which are so far removed they can almost be considered original works. this special edition vinyl includes one of the most sought after remixes, -warpaint- originally by pocket 808 in australia, vonstroke turned this into a late night anthem in 2007. played by techno djs, dubstep djs, and everyone in between this track was never cut to vinyl until now. on the flip side claude remixed the nublu orchestra out of new york. he was never completely happy with the original version of the remix and hes gone back and re-made it into a very special piece of music including a new vocal sample from his wife aundy who also did the vocal effects in whos afraid of detroit? this collection was put together with the theme that a remix can be an inspiring starting point for an entirely new piece of music. these are two of the deeper and darker remixes but we think you agree they are also very special.
