italian producer piero pirupa�s musical cv is nothing short of impressive. so it�s no surprise that his next production has found a home on damian lazarus� crosstown rebels, enlisting the vocal talents of new york�s mr.v. influenced by the sounds of 80s and 90s chicago, pirupa worked tirelessly on this ep to reach a version he was happy with. after seeing the reaction from dancefloors around the world, he decided to send it to carl cox and damian lazarus. we must be (the piano track) breathes new life into today�s dance music with a message from a bygone era. it harks back to the golden age of house music with its lush piano topline and positive message sung by mr.v. happiness simply emanates from this production. with lyrics such as �we must be all in this together, we must live to respect one another� and �this is the plan to make us unified� it takes clubbing back to a time when everyone came together on the dancefloor regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or religion.

damian lazarus & the ancient moons have released their new track �feedback loop�. this is the latest single to be taken from their forthcoming new album heart of sky, out on july 20th through crosstown rebels/bmg. showcasing the warm textures of jesse appiah�s soulful vocals and the ancient moons� top notch production, �feedback loop� already sounds like a classic and is undoubtably one of the album�s key moments. the song is about a.i., a conversation between man and machine, and rolls out of the speakers like a 21st century update of bristol�s wild bunch sound system. remixes for the dancefloor from bedouin and serge devant, plus dubs from the legendary mad professor, follow on all formats next month.

the next release on crosstown rebels sees made by pete come together once again with vocalist jem cooke. returning to damian lazarus� impressive imprint, made by pete invites diynamic label boss solomun and gruuv founders audiojack to take on remix duties. the original cut of so long opens up the ep. you are at once immersed in its trance-inducing elements, intensified by cooke�s powerfully sensual vocals. solomun shapes the title track into a grittier, industrial version whilst audiojack�s leans on the more percussive side, with ambient sounds and a prominent vocal hook. closing the ep is modify saturn, a track graced by tribal drums that beckon you to succumb to the groove. made by pete has been carving a name for himself in the dance music scene over the past thirteen years. he�s had releases on respected labels such as dftd, crosstown rebels and kerri chandler�s madtech records. his music has been supported by some of the scene�s most respected taste-makers from pete tong to joris voorn and eats everything to groove armada. jem cooke has lent her stunning vocal talent to some major musical players including cher, zero 7, kate simko, martin garrix and hot since 82.

crosstown rebels deliver their next album in the form of a masterful offering from chic miniature. the cosmic duo, ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont make a welcome return to the label with eight tracks of melodic bliss.

on a mission is exactly that, a mission of love, a mission of peace . the positive vocals hark back to those of early 90s house tracks, which created unity through music and clubbing. the rhythmic beat of the drum is determined, as percussive layers build and the vocals bleed into the synths. francois k provides two variations of the track. his remix features more prominent drumbeats driven by a growling bassline. on his rockers dub version, francois goes all out and dubs us into the stratosphere. up next is the michael mayer remix, with a more electronic take on the original with driving synths and a whirring, throbbing bass-line.

the next offering on crosstown rebels comes from italian trio pastaboys, who gift us with a rhythmic and hypnotic three-parter. they invite the inimitable rebolledo to take on remix duties to complete this package. the ep is a trance-inducing affair. the trio lure us in with opener kolo kolo. its funky rhythm sets a precedent as its trance-inducing power builds layer upon layer into an intoxicating and hypnotic groove. abbassa is up next. heavy on the bass, with a sensuality that is palpable. the african vocal adds a tribal touch before the track tumbles into a crescendo of urgent synths. rebolledos version of abbassa is a more cosmic affair, staying true to his psychedelic inclinations and with an added a bass guitar groove. pastaboys have been releasing music since the dawn of the new millenium. they�ve showcased their tasteful and highly refined productions on imprints such as 83 west and defected. releases such as born again, body resonance, limit, hozho, deep musique prove that their music is timeless and that dance music is still a matter of groove and soul.

serge devant returns to one of his favoured labels with his white groove ep, delivering a pair of deep, textured tracks thatll vitalise any rigid dancefloor. archie hamilton makes his crosstown rebels debut and supplies a punchy, tripped-out revision of lead track, white groove. white groove is an absorbing mix of rumbling sub bass, soft, textured percussion, and ethereal pads. loose percussion and a tough kick carve out the initial vibe on connect to server. a hypnotising, low-riding synth is the final layer and helps generate even more groove into this peak time roller. archie hamilton switches up white groove, revising the bassline into a buzzing, forward pushing rhythm but retains the mystical feel of the original, bolstering the whirring pads and using intricate percussive sounds and fx. serge devant hails from brooklyn, new york and released his seminal track fearing love in 2015 on emerald city. since then he�s been championed by damian lazarus, a firm favourite on both crosstown rebels and rebellion, whilst also receiving plaudits for his releases on knee deep in sound and circus recordings. moscow records, moss.co and arkityp owner archie hamilton is one of the uks most promising talents, consistently releasing high quality house and techno on the likes of get physical, fuse london, 2020 vision, fear of flying among others.

sis, the alias of burak sar, returns once again to crosstown rebels. following on from releases such 2012s round pen, 2015s sombra india and last years the blindside, the german-born producer heavily influenced by his turkish roots- presents us with this tribal triple-threat. sis explains that it was sending his first ever demo tape to crosstown rebels in 2004 that initiated his relationship with the label and tells us to expect some rolling dance floor breakers. karmir nur gets the ep underway. sensual strings abound with a heady, tribal chant that lulls you into a state of hypnosis. tima rolls along, building slowly as the layers pull you in deeper still towards those familiar strings. dandini brings back the tribal chanting. the vocals are backed by mesmeric drums, perfect for an intoxicating, dance floor procession. burak sar has released a number of records on renowned imprints such as get physical music, mobilee and cocoon recordings as well as running his own successful label, cocolino records.
