after appearances in numerous end-of-year charts, raffertie continues to meddle with the dna of uk dance music on two ready made anthems. the more ballistic side of rafferties oeuvre is shown on the blazing >7th dimension< with crushed house beats alloyed to swooping bass wobbles and head searing synths, while the oddly affecting >string theory< should only add to his fanbase with an impressive grasp of bassline dynamics and vintage uk rave atmospherics that doesnt sound like much out there.

reincarnation is back with a debut from another upcoming italian production team, dirty channels. they deliver two african inspired tech jams, african democrazy and litho. the first has been also reworked by monocaldas rame into a slighty tougher workout and by isoul8 into a deep psychedelic journey.

the ep features the first official release of the title track (now properly mixed and mastered, with a shouted hook from izza kizza) as well as a hyperactive juke remix of crookers anthem knobbers by dj gant man, and two incredible takes on the follow-up cudi collab embrace the martian courtesy of uk beat maestro seiji.

it was only a matter of time. two genre-defining artists together ... pop music and dance musics most famous arbiters of taste, collaborating at last. dj hells >u can dance< is an interpretation of an unreleased bryan ferry song, but its one that reflects a perfect melding of two distinct personalities, a record that sounds as if the voice and music were made for each other.
hell, of course, has been riding high on the success of >teufelswerk<, his masterpiece of a double album, a journey replete with fruitful experiments and club bombs. one that has yielded both massive hits and not a tiny bit of controversy along the way. ferry, meanwhile, has been as busy as ever—recording a new album, performing in places as far afield as siberia, opening up the cannes film festival ... basically just being bryan ferry.
and now here they are together ... it all started in 2006 when hell dropped in to meet ferry at his west london studio. at first they discussed hell remixing an old roxy music track, and then it turned into something else - something new (u can dance).
they had similar impressions of one another — hell: >i was impressed by his aura and his look.<, ferry: >he impressed us with his sophistication and charm.< fast forward a few years later, and hell is hard at work on teufelswerk and putting the finishing touches on the aforementioned song titled >u can dance<, a serpentine moroder-esque disco burner. with the help of old friend peter kruder, of kruder and dorfmeister fame, hell fashioned the song into a smoldering nine-minute highlight of the double disc set, in which ferry turns in a typically assured vocal performance.
ferry may seem like an unexpected fan of dance, but hes been going to clubs since he was a teenager, and in his lengthy career hes worked with legends such as nile rodgers of chic and david williams from michael jacksons band. >its always a pleasure to work with people from that genre, who follow a singular groove.<
the single follows in the wake of hells >the dj feat. p. diddy< which has won over floors and critics alike with its nearly 30-minute radio slave remix and fine work from the likes of deetron, jay haze and others. on >u can dance< hell and ferry have similarly pulled out all the stops for the remixes, gathering up work from the grammy-nominated producer carl craig, dfa mainstay tim goldsworthy and pop electro superstars simian mobile disco.

right on the heels of aux-records enthusiastically received 1st release featuring very contemporary revisits of the 1950s classic >fever< by franco cinelli and club rayo, this 2nd chapter of the aux-rec project travels to different eras, into different styles. and this is precisely what we had set to do: zig-zag through dance music history in search of personal favorites and classics to be revisited or refreshed. for the present release, we travel to two distinct dates: 1989 for the a-side, and 1979 for the b-side. two tracks that are 10 years apart, but that both share a fiercely upbeat and affirmative musical profile, as well as a certain ageless, core, compositional quality.

londons bass champion and one half of the infamous night slugs team is l vis 1990. a name synonymous with the whole uk funky / post garage and house movement thats proving to be the most exciting thing in electronic music right now. following releases on mad decent and tres cool, l vis is kicking off his new label (conceived with fellow tastemaker bok bok) alongside this weeks new release from mosca (check that), with two tracks that slew genres and blur all boundaries in their wake. originally released only digitally on dj orgasmic and teki latexs sound pellegrino label, compass and zahonda are now finally available on super loud vinyl. this is a limited edition.

saved kicks off its 2010 release campaign with an ep from mendo and danny serrano. the duo achieved a successful 2009 between them with releases on bouq, clarisse, viva and luciano s cadenza imprint. for their saved release they present an incredible two track ep which is set to cause damage to dance floors across the globe. on the a side is yanara , a powerful deep and techy track which builds perfectly with layers of effected vocals and drum rolls to create an audio masterpiece. on the flipside is berlina . just as effective as the a-side, it possesses a grooving bassline, which works perfectly with the vocals that mendo and danny have edited flawlessly to make the track work to great atmospheric effect.

2017 repress, with jamie and i being die hard fans of prince, i knew that once we sat down to work on this >prince-like< vocal track, the outcome might turn out epic… and it did! >nasty things< became an instant anthem for our dj sets. two takes on the talking heads on the reverse to round it all out

2009 was a great year for these days records, and 2010 promises to be even better. the platform stood out for its innovative yet functional club sound and unique artwork concepts. the new year begins with a new split series under the name universal consciousness, based on the idea of connection between all things, and that all things have been coordinated, and they combine to make up the same universe. the first part is dedicated to two very different takes on spiritual, cosmic space techno. on the a-side argys >sometimes im blind< generates a long and uplifting emotional climax, which features a solo that will forever stay in your heart. the track was recorded at the end of 2008, and despite numerous offers to release the record elsewhere, nothing was finalised and the recording never saw the light of day. soon after the birth of his own label, it naturally fit the platform and seemed a perfect way to start the new year. on the flip side, sheffield born alexander ross, brings forth a cavernous techno piece awash with reverberation and spacial echos that brings a driving yet non the less emotionally captivating moment perfectly in balance with the depth of the a-side.

deep a & biri have been involved in the tel aviv house scene for some time. with this 3 track ep plus digital bonus track they give their debut now.
>twisted tango< is the most stripped down of all three tracks and a real cool groover. one of these tracks that grow enormously with volume and space. these two guys have got a good vision of how dance music should be to clad the clubbers in cotton batting. their cool way of transmitting indifference has always been the carrier of sensuality and sexiness in entertainment and it does create a certain kind of peppermint stench here. the vocals stabs in this one work like dubby elements which deep a & biri drop like things dropping out of your pocket.
>mischievous< is a perfect bassline monster... deep and heavy with a genius >pam pam< vocal stab. we dont know where these samples come from but they are luscious as hell. welcome to the pleasure dome!
>hine gama< is as cool as the two other tracks but but a little more laissez-faire fair. we dont think that anybody will be able to resist this bright light brown colour it shows with all its reflections of intensive sunbeams shining in.

the voyage continues. after dropping his debut album voyage direct, tom trago now drops two favorites from his live set. side a is an extended disco version of use me, morphing in to and out of the original like butter. clocking over 8 minutes use me again becomes somewhat a modern take on the original disco version. its got enough drive to make a dance floor go crazy. side b meanwhile is an exclusive from his live set. here he strips the classic >over & over< to the minimum before sliding into the original groove only for a moment, only to continue to ride the rhythm again. proper club business

dollkraut aka pascal pinkert is back with another great ep after his previously successful release >cheveux noir< on sound architecture. once again he shows his ability to produce a unique blend of house influenced by soul and jazz. loaded with warm and analogue sounds paired with his intuition for solid vocals and sampling.
the remixes featured on this record are done by two swinging tag-teams. first of all the well known krause duo (freude am tanzen / musik krause) with an edgy sharp jacking remix. on the b-side scott (the gym / my best friend / fluid ounce) turn the downbeat track precious fool with their jazzy twist into a dancefloor anthem. outstanding record!

while the first outing on this new label from the italian edit champs is still a highlight in many a djs box another incredible outing from ltj comes along. two more reworks of fine soul and disco tunes that have a strong chicago deephouse sensibility to them. this received a record number of hits on soundcloud and might even be bigger than the first swde!

second release from shoes offshoot plimsoll by space rangers are two funky disco edits. an extended version of d trains keep on dub mix, and a dancefloor filler edit of new jersey connections love dont come easy. rainer trueby and motor city drum ensemble are already fans.

2001 double 12inch remixes!

after a break of 3 years, fear of flying resurrect their limited label to give an airing to a track that has been getting some serious attention at londons uber club fabric, having been a staple in the sets of supa resident craig richards for some months now. tiger tiger is all about the tension as the 3 minute intro builds and builds with the an arpeggiated synth, deep bass and a spanish female vocal hook before dropping, no doubt, to dance floor pandemonium as the kick is introduced. its anthemic qualities are brought to the fore later on with a string breakdown and more lashings of the ultra catchy spanish female vocal. ekkohaus provides two excellent mixes on the flip – the main remix shimmers along in fine dance floor fashion. super slick percussion and snippets of the main vocal keep pushing the tracks along, occasionally dropping into the full vocal hook to get hands in the air and smiles on faces.
