luke slaters mote-evolver label is enjoying an impressive run of form. having chalked up one of the standout cuts of the autumn in the shape of cari lekebuschs >spindizzy< and dropped two floor-shaking futuristic techno megabombs from ortin cam (>carnage< & >felt<) either side of the new year there can be little doubt that the long-standing label is as relevant now as it ever has been.
one of the key players in finlands techno scene, samuli kemppi has a reputation for making forward-thinking, boundary blurring electronic music. coming up to his tenth year as a producer, his knack for blending the best of the past with cutting edge sounds has seen samuli appear on labels as diverse as ovum, siesta, komisch and prologue, providing all the credentials necessary to understand why samulis style has consistently drawn attention from all corners.

eddie c is a canadian dj and producer. he has already released some excellent re-edit stuff from the popular label in the nu-disco scene like jiscomusic, flashback, wolf music and more. a side, >between now and then< isatmospheric beatdown house which remind the production of mark e or the revenge. >you know how< is a classical slow mo house stuff with the soulful female vocal. b side, >the show is over< is more straight boogie disco housetrack. >gimme your dub< is like a balearic edit of give me your love of curtis mayfield.

its been a while since the last rsb release, but then tracks like this dont come along every day! for their first vinyl appearance on a label other than their own, enigmatic german duo ancient methods do the honourable thing and break out the whip, a track that comes across like a 2-step party in the foundry of thor himself. lets lazily label it anvil techno, because as far as we are aware no has yet invented a genre that adequately desribes music such as this. and as we have come to expect, much the same can be said of the evil sickness that is eat like hawks by bjorn svin (with a little help from karsten pflum, jona olesen & copyflex!). it starts like it means to go on, with a gnarled loop and indecipherable distorted vocals, and is gradually tweaked and augmented to the point of destruction. all manner of ill bass, overdriven filters, zaps, clanky drums & feedback join the party before the whole affair is brought to an abrupt end by the strange foreign lady that we have come to know and love over the course of the track. truly music for small, sweaty, strobe-driven cellars.

grant nelsons mighty swing city rightly has a reputation in the industry for releasing nothing but the finest house music – since its inception in 95, swing city has been a benchmark label for many of todays leading producers to aim for, with its distinct mix of vocal, dubby & just downright awesome tracks. their first vinyl release of 2010 offers a rare peek into some of their unreleased classics – never seen before, and featuring remixes from jazz n groove, warren clarke and of course grant himself.

claude vonstrokes hit album >bird brain< has been remixed by some of the best producers in the world from carl craig to robag whrume. dirtybird has decided to release the majority of remixes on vinyl in a series of very limited pressings throughout the next few months. each record will have 300 copies only.

scott monteith aka deadbeat is back on echocord with an absolutely killer ep. after his split ep with fenin on echocord colour this year, and his earlier ep with pole (d.p.) he is now back on echocord with his vampire ep. deadbeat is one scott monteith, a long time montrealer and recent berlin ex pat who has been releasing his own special blend of dub laden, minimal electronics since 2000, for labels such as cynosure, musique risquée, scape and spectral to name but a few. this continues in the same vain. dub is the key here and it is used with such class and insight. the flip sees a more twisted track that shows a slightly more edgy side.

dance disorders bpitch debut >zusammen< is a 10-minute marvel of epic breath, and yet remains admirably unpretetious, falling neatly into the mould of the best minimal-ethereal techno classics of the early 90s. the vocals are contributed by berlin ostgut resident dj boris. the original and instrumental versions of this 12 inch vinyl are bound to create moments of ecstatic pleasure on every after-hour dancefloor.

this time its >the greasy beat<, the famed cvs / bootsy collins collaboration. continuing with the theme of claudes favorite producers - robag wruhme steps in for his first appearance on dirtybird. we are honored to have him on this release as he has heavily influenced both claude and justin martin over the years.
the other side features the young j. phlip, delivering her mad breaks/house version that always raises the roof at dirtybird events.

spectrum have taken a look back to move forward, and manage to sound as current as ever in an ode to the glory days of techno.

dirty, sleazy, mean and in your face pumping chicago electrotechno jack from upcoming the hague talent baz reznik on the ever impressive sd records label. it has that beloved la haye roughness that makes it essential for sweaty, hypnotic dancefloors and dark afterparties.

the release, has two original songs and two additional remixes. funky chicken is a powerful and profound theme very well produced. we remember the old school house will surely be a pump for the club! the remix of arnaud le texier follows the line of detroit house, forceful and elegant at any time. namaste has a base of high quality with great pace and a lot of groove. the remix by mirco violi has a great personality with a base and a very marked rhythm, this ep is a vinyl indispensable in any club.

finally after some struggle and some discussions, here we are with the new record called love lift. it contains a superb remix by mr. todd osborn aka osborne, a sneaky dub version by cb funk – known from the story label - and of course the original version .. which has literally been played in every live show so far.. hope you like it…

dub police comes with the goods again. this time its the turn of one of dubsteps founding fathers d1, here to show them what its all about. jus business has been finding its way into the sets of all the big hitters lately. with its dark rave stabs, tripping jungle beats and pounding sub bass its not hard to see why ? serious business from d1. things couldnt be more contrasting on the flip with the energetic party roller pitcher. skipping beats and a quirky lead line, with funky esq. melodies and soulful grooves ? a really bouncing track. all in all another top draw release from dub police and a quality slab of vinyl from d1 showing us just how diverse this artist really is.

seasoned producer, musician and dj, mike monday has always been at the forefront of the uks electronic music scene. his skills have been honed and developed through years in the late 90s spent producing a variety of styles of music. time well spent indeed as this fertile training ground prepared him for the presentation of his critically acclaimed 2nd studio album, songs without words. heavily influenced by the dubstep and funky scene, yoppul has the ethnic sounds of london written all over it. its warm drums sounds, hefty bass and quirky melodies epitomize mikes signature sound and are a tribute to the soundtrack that is currently ruling his citys streets

behind the synonym nick sole is karsten kaufmann. as a music producer, he has released only 3 titles on the cult label mojuba between 2005 and 2009 but all of them had a great success within the deep house community. this is his first release out since march 2009 and contains two different takes of >never<, the radio edit and the space dub version which is a 14 minutes ride to the heart of deep house accompanied of a classy and delightful conga and catchy vocals. >back to love< completes the ep and elevates nick sole to the soul music heaven.

the berlin-based dj and producer eva be is no newcomer to the international dance-music scene. 2 years ago she released her long-player >moving without travelling< on bestseven / sonar kollektiv records creating her very own trademark dub-influenced electronic sound. this ep is the logical continuation of her musical output as she has been djing quite a heavy 4/4 sound in the last years playing alongside best works records djs andre lodemann, roland appel and alex barck of jazzanova in places such as goa/madrid, cookies/berlin, dampfzentrale/bern, etc.

besides steffis killer chicago inspired throb and moody melodic structure, >kill me< features the sultry vocal talents of close friend elif bicer, also recording partner of label mates prosumer and murat tepeli. elifs tender and instinctive story of a love lost and found flows honestly and creatively throughout the vocal version. an instrumental dub is also included for the creative use of the dj.
steffi also shows off her skills with the >crushed soul< mix, allowing her intuitive, sentimental yet dancefloor tuned chord progressions to flow stronger. baassline led and focused on clean, precisely measured beats and synth lines to tell the story, this alternative version goes even further to suggest what treats are yet to come from this talented producer.

fresh 2010 repress !! historia y violencia is a new project exploring the hispanic roots of santiago salazar (dj s2) and j. mendez (silent servant). both producers dissect their latin upbringings as a cinematic theme to create snapshots of the day-to-day blood and sweat that has shaped them as individuals. the sound takes cue from detroit, berlin and chicago to create classic, deep dancefloor tracks. santiago salazar started djing in the early 90s inspired by mix tapes his brother was bringing back from the gay underground scene in los angeles. his style has always been a mixture of house and techno. after moving to detroit, santiago began his music training with mike banks, label founder of underground resistance. he is also half of the duo ican (ican productions / planet e) who have been responsible for some killer techno releases. the central american born j. mendez cut his teeth as jasper in the late 90s/early 2000s, running the california-based cytrax label. a veteran dj from the age of 16, he has performed worldwide in clubs from berlin to osaka. along with technical wizards kit clayton and sutekh, he helped shed light on the small but influential minimal techno scene on the west coast. a chance meeting with karl oconnor in 1999 established a friendship that would later open the door to the sandwell district label in 2006. silent servants sound is a reinterpretation of early 80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of basic channel and downwards.

fresh 2010 repress !! maybe silent servant (aka john mendez) has been at the coloured sweeties and fizzy pop, as the two tracks for >negative fascinations< are decidedly more upbeat than offerings on his previous three sandwell district releases, or indeed his own historia y violencia label. that s not to say that they are exactly cheery though - the string-like drones of >discipline< will doubtless send a shiver up the spine of many a raver - but >demonstration< certainly ups the tempo by a notch or two compared to the much deeper flavours that we have become accustomed to. an accomplished enhancement of his production, whilst remaining true to his trademark textured sound...

fresh 2010 repress !! two more deep but slamming techno cuts from this enigmatic duo. silent servant has definitely been picking up the pace of late, his recent release on techno-label-of-the-moment sandwell district showed a definite progression both in terms of style & >hardness<, and here >la noche < - a throbbing beast of a track - continues that progression. santiago salazar, fresh from a superb release on macromedia, pulls more atmospheric tricks out of the bag, but doesn t forget the dancefloor. cool shit, no doubt!

jaffa surfa is a well known dj in hungary with a strong and long aritstic background where music has always been the main part of it.. hes done already releases on universal vibes, devoted and off, showing a great variety of styles into his productions. we have been strucked by his track >diskoz< and his strong disco vein! this track is a magic mixture of techno house elements dropped into our immmaginary view of 80s electronic uncontaminated disco.

its been three years since uffie took the underground by storm with her killer electro crunk anthems hot chick, ready to uff and pop the glock. 17 million my space plays later, the 22 year old star of parisian club culture is ready to release her new single mcs can kiss. produced by mr oizo, its an old school soundclash of heavy beats and sharp rhymes, a pass the dutchie for the modern era. remixes come from some new kids on the block, zombie disco squad and starkey. zombie disco squad have delivered the perfect big room remix, while starkey has given it a dirty philly street feel with his dubstep rework.

alex o. smith aka omar-s does it again, mixing up the rough with the smooth in his wonderfully titled >plesetsk cosmodrome ep< (named after the russian space port of the same name). the first two tracks >kosmos 1402< and >plesetsk cosmodrome< have a old larry heard kind of feel to them, you should check the title track which has one of the most infectious basslines i have heard in a while. the drum machine lead closing track >skynet 2b< is omar s at his rawest. classic fxhe vibes, miss this one at your peril.

the bzrk-classic >the flow< by jeremy will be put in the spotlight once again and has been remixed by two of present hardcores most talented artists: t-junction and rudeboy!

after his hard hitting remix on the hydro 13.8 vinyl 12inch a.p. is back on plastic with an original release for d.a.v.e. the drummers all conquering hydraulix label. this has intelligence, forward thinking ideas and subtle arrangements all set in a hard hitting production package. this is techno you cannot afford to live without!

easy house grooves and deep, chord-driven techno – two versions of electronic music paulo olarte is particularly interested in as he has proven with his records on diynamic or his own imprint fresh fish. for his first 12 inch on frankfurts new entry, polytone, former hamburg-resident olarte gives full scope to his perferences. >vayas donde vayas< comes with a wonderfully housey feeling and a rich fund of harmonies, whereas >sweet sugar< plays the role of the techno bouncer for the tradition-conscious and discerning dancefloor with its deep detroit flavour. in his remix of >vayas donde vayas<, antonelli concentrates on the lightness of the or iginal and moves towards a maximum of funkyness with a mulitude of thrilling details. drei farben house rounds off the remix flip side with one of his long suspense arrangements he has come to be known for, which sends us to house heaven when the fine chords eventually fully unfold. polytone remains one of the most interesting, diverse newcomers of recent times.

round no. 2 for the alex baus credo repaints, this time featuring the long term techno-heavyweight chris liebing and the uprising jonas kopp from argentina. chris keeps close to the original of >full method jacket<, a track he has been playing frequently, adding his own flavour in a very impressive way. jonas turns >lofi micro< into a stripped down and arrangement-wise more relaxed version, but his precise drumming and sound-design makes this remix becoming something completely new. full points again and already massive dj-support from a like abba to z like zz top :-)

toolbox is gideons third album, in the line of many to come. although the minimal hype has surpassed this is minimalism from a techno point of view. no bullshit sounds, just straight up minimalistic techno grooves. inspired by guys like richie hawtin and robert hood, gideon has twisted this knowledge into something of his own. very different from his last album on kanzleramt called >need no permission<, this album focuses on tool tracks. and that is off course the title explanation. toolbox is an 8 track album in the line of gideon his first minimalplus release trias politica. 8 pure danceable tool tracks that a fit for any techno minded dance floor. toolbox will be released on 2 separate 12 inch records minimalplus 010 and minimalplus 011 each containing 4 songs.
