king ghazi is shadi khries and gilbert cohen. recorded in amman / may 2014. all the music presented here is original, and has been recorded in jordan in may 2014. this project was born when i met shadi in paris, at the percussion recording sessions for acid arab. from these sessions came the idea of&#8203,,,,,exploring local music styles on the verge of disappearing, in jordan and elsewhere in the middle east. it was also an opportunity for me to meet exceptional people and wonderful artists. for 15 days, we travelled through jordan, recording local musicians. here we hear osama al khairat aka abu sayah, an exiled syrian musician who plays the yarghoul (two flutes linked together by beeswax. one plays a drone, the other the corresponding range, all while blowing continuously). i want to specially thank shermine sawalha for allowing us to record in the living room of her parents house, as well as for coordinating the whole project. without her energy and patience, this record would not be in your hands today.

karim sahraoui has been producing gems for many years under various names such as djinxx, soul monkey and electronique resistance. after a break 2014 saw his return to the business under his real name and producing music that is closer to him than ever. releases included the future classic eternal life ep pt 1 on derrick mays transmat and appearances on labels such as cocoon. the a-side features the epic 10-minute original version of horns of glory on which karim takes his time to unfold the story of the track: a journey filled with beautiful melodies and rhythms that paint a lush landscape of sound. side b features the earth from above which again has a fairy-tale feeling to it. the b2 is vince watsons pumping and powerful remix of horns of glory which gives the track an energetic hypnotic quality and rounds off the package well.

fusing forces from norway and ghana for crosstown rebels is djuma soundsystem & yann coppier feat. king ayisoba, with the expertly crafted anyimo a african infused techno beast of a track, featuring remixes from dj and producer ibadan kingpin jerome sydenham and the illusive johnny aux who brings his signature acid house sound. king ayisoba originates from ghana and has been sharing his modern day twist on kologo music all over the world. norwegian in origin, djuma soundsystem has been creating music and touring the world for over a decade on labels such as rebirth, eskimo and noir. the two creative forces have combined here to create a truly unique afro-infused head turner of track with king ayisoba superb ghanaian vocals. the legendary jerome sydenham delivers two floor-filling interpretation of the original, both vocal an ibadan dub, hike the tempo and hit the floor running. also, johnny aux delivers a rib rattling techno take on the original with devastating effect
