jay bliss is our first ever romanian signing. there has been a influx of superb romanian producers over the last years including a:rpia:r and the trend continues with bliss and his hermanndstadt collective. developing a style sitting somewhere between house and techno, with strong detroit roots he has released for the likes of immigrant, hudd trax and diynamic. pluto has been a staple of ralph lawsons sets for a while now, its a smooth and crisp tech house roller that recalls classic 2020 releases gone by, especially those of carl finlows. on the flip weve turned to skudge to give us their own take on pluto. weve been fans of skudge since they dropped their first single, and have had us transfixed with their excursions into pure analogue, loopy, dub techno ever since. their version of pluto is a different beast to the original, all stuttering percussion and menacing strings, a perfect counterbalance to the original version

new clone basement series (lucky number 013!) with the long awaited return of a made up sound (aka 2562), following up on his archive ep/cbs02. written as a counterbalance to the more experimental releases on his own amus label series, archive ii finally unleashes whats possibly his most banging, straight-forward club material to date, while retaining the trademark a made up sound funk and swing.hang-up is all about the irresistible herbie-injected groove, cut-up and layered to great effect, whereas things get darker and bass-heavier with technotrack sweetback on the flip. keeping the tension high till a drop towards the end, seven minutes never seemed so short. a great first number 013 release and we cant wait to hear some of our favourite djs play the tracks out loud. another proper banger on the clone basement series!

inspired by life long dedication to music and a rebel in the underground dance scene santiago de chile based producer jeaven presents his debut on resopal. his playground effects ep is a three-tracker showing his personal definitions of contemporary house / detroity - minimal - or how should we name it ? simply ... music! playground effect, the ep title is a great description of jeavens music, where everything is in constant and vibrant motion. from the the way the tracks evolve - to sound design to the beat-programing – there are no presets. the title track seems to spin at two velocities at once, balancing a driving, linear groove with half-speed voices to create a sense of suspended animation. centralized goes even deeper, with a rippling bass melody that gets deep inside your stomach. all three tracks on this ep are like springtime on hot wax.

a few years ago i took a journey to europe searching for a new sound. people along the journey had been telling me about this guy from tropea, italy called dj steve (named after his favorite musician, stevie wonder).
he is a butcher there by day, but at night he is the dj at a club called casablanca. i made my way to this tiny town in the south of italy and found dj steve. his 12 hour dj sets opened my eyes. this guy was the real deal. he was playing dubplates, vinyl, cassettes, and reel-to-reels. all special edits he had done over the years. i couldnt believe what i was hearing.

in june 2011 subtext recordings was restarted after a six year hiatus for the release of the second lp from emptyset, titled >demiurge<. this album represented a transition from the first two subtext releases, a pair of seminal experimental recordings from the groundbreaking duo vexd, switching path into a new terrain that allowed for the distortion and dissolution of the sequencer grid and shifted the focus of the label from the programmed to the composed.
through this development subtext recordings has evolved into a conversation between emptyset, the ex-vexd artist roly porter, and composer paul jebanasam, who has spearheaded the revival of the label. this new release continues this dialogue by commissioning both porter and jebanasam to respond to the material contained within >demiurge< and develop their own interpretations of the original album.
