named after the bird that graces the cover of watergates latest mix cd the, >peacock ep< contains all the exclusive tracks from the mix compiled and blended together by club resident lee jones. the a-side is handled by matthias meyer and lee, who team up for a peak-time killer laden with warm chords. this one has already proved itself on watergates main floor by getting butts shaking on multiple occasions. >kreuzberg 61<, musically is clearly inspired by lees experiences in watergate and his home for the last 8 years in berlins kreuzberg district. the reduced tempo and warm melancholic strings are an audible representation of looking through watergates glass walls out upon the river during the wee hours of a saturday morning. wrapping up the ep, is the after-hour anthem collaboration between lee and daniel dreier, >lullaby<. the perfect track to hum on your sunday morning stumble home.

dixie yure is the incarnation of contemporary oldschool house music from seville. after some digital only releases it is about time for some haptic experience. with the 10“ record „show me satisfaction“ on berlin-based label fenou his sound is rotating on turntables for the first time. monotonous minimalism ain’t dixie yures world. the sound tends more towards 2step and builds a homogeneous and pleasant mixture with classical house elements and vocal parts. you just cant deny yourself dancing the >chicken dance< and stepping like hell! thanks to the funky improvisations extending over the whole track you wont get bored even after listening to >show me< for the hundredth time. the a-side is just fun - in the club as well as on your couch. you wont miss the low-pitched vocals on the b-side either as they are typical for the spanish producer. >satisfaction< is a little more reduced than >show me< but is enhanced with jazz elements such as pianos and saxophones. it shows that wind instruments in electronic music dont have to be annoying tribal elements. in this example acoustic instruments do not just get mixed up with house music but merge to one groove – absolutely rocking tune!

until now duffstep has hidden in the seedy undergrowth of london always in disguise, clandestine and covert, ever plotting his imminent escape. this bid for freedom then, is called >getting to sirius<. sirius is the brightest star in the night sky, in ancient greek times sirius was said to mark the beginning of summer, where women became aroused and men became weak. duffsteps debut album >getting to sirius< is a blend of dub influenced, down tempo beats winding through layers of melody, synths and vocals softening the blow and giving a nice, warm and fuzzy edge to the thick slabs of sonic concrete. though you dont have to wait long before a nice big bass-line knocks you down on your arse again.
