a year after the initial digital release heres the long awaited nugget for all the vinyl lovers: d-pulse >velocity of love< with the new richer sound and the additional vinyl-only remixes. after a lot has been said about the original track and hot toddys mix (which was recently licensed for the ministry of sounds >late night sessions< compilation) these two new remixes resting on the side b are definitely worth to be mentioned. mario basanov (hailing from lithuania) really surprised us all with his musical thinking and a fresh point of view on the original track and also - by finishing such a quality mix in only 3 (!) days. the second mix that finishes off the ep was done by the new name from izhevsk - andrew starodumov aka eclectic sound (previously featured on our >obscured by the machines< compilation). his mix is a nice background for coastal chilling under the soft evening sunbeams. enjoy

simoncino (aka nick anthony) from italian super edit label no more hits crosses the atlantic and finds a new home with on the prowls sub-label party breaks. what immediately stands out upon first listen is the production style, not being able to tell what is a sample and what has been replayed... much like tensnakes mega hit. the simoncino sound is firmly rooted in proto-house and 80s r&b. with ingredients like ancient drum machines, arpeggiated melodies, and cheap 80s pads, his concoction boils over with a certain cheekiness that makes listeners grin from ear to ear. all four tracks are subtle hits in their own right. excellent ep!

kubrak, one half of dynamic production duo utopia, previously featured on brd003, with his solo effort ‘fast forward’. cementing his name as one of the emerging artists to keep your eye on in 2009, kubrak has gone one step further to unveil his first solo release on breed 12 inches. yet another russian (one of 5 to appear so far on breed’s back catalogue), kubrak captures the industrial movement of his home country, in such a manner that results in a legion of fans. unrelenting, much like his homeland, his production output is in your face, whilst keeping your feet firmly planted with inventive and progressive melodic based arrangements.

fuse london deliver their second release and it comes from resident dj and one of the capital citys most prolific djs, rich nxt.
having collaborated with hypercolours alex jones for art departments no.19 imprint as well as chalking up releases for sonat and mighty rumble, nxt has a solid reputation as a producer in addition to huge respect as a dj. productions and sets combine late-night grooves with a distinct sense of strangeness that makes for an always-interesting listen.

originally born in the south of england into a musically gifted family, mark reeve received the major order to be a dj and to play electronic dance music when he moved to the rhein-main area in 1998. mark is now known today as a non stop dj and producer , as an artist he has now had his most important releases on cult label defected with with düsseldorf-based tapesh, solo on traumschallplatten (sep 2011), for monique musique or neurotraxx - marks tracks are always a mixture between dancefloor moovers including groovy rhythms and big baselines. in his cocoon debut, reeve presents himself in all his stylistic bandwidth: >daybreak< combines a highly-functional tribal bass pumping station with such mighty dub chords that make the sun shine even in in the most remote corner of the club, while >morning on mars< gives priority to the hypnotic effect of percussion. mark reeve is definitely a name to remember in 2011!

this latest lovebirds ep on winding road records is another absolute masterpiece of chilled house soul and deep rave. a really excellent package and a must-have lovebirds release. on the a-side track, >want you in my soul<, lovebirds teams up with vocalist stee downes. stees acclaimed debut album >all in a day< was released on sonar kollektiv in 2008, and who has worked and performed alongside the likes of motor city drum ensemble, amp fiddler, dj spinna, and bugz in the attic. their collaboration for winding road is a driving vocal house bomb that will rock your world. the b-side kicks off with the dirty tech tune >give me a dubf*ck<, an injection of dark rave that has been causing serious explosions on dancefloors for a few months now. perfect chemical material for the harder floors. the b2 track is hot toddys remix of >want you in my soul< - a chrome-plated disco dimension to the track by crazy p man chris todd, which was licensed to tensnakes >in the house< compilation before it even saw the light of day. hot stuff indeed.

last year put leeds-based producer midlands (aka harry agius) name on the map with his successful collaboration with hessle audios ramadanman, >your words matter< on aus music. this year, aus label chief will saul has invited midland back to take a solo swing. its an excursion that explores the boundaries of 2-step, uk garage and techno and consists of two original tracks. on the a side >through motion< shows midlands ability to seamlessly take the spirit of uk garage and fuse it with techno. the tracks moody piano melody is punctured by a dark, pitch-shifted vocal and encircled by the warm atmospherics that have become his trademark. on the flip side is >shelter<, a brooding and cavernous affair whose vocals and whispery atmospherics make this the perfect late night tool.

the response to sven kacireks album the kenya sessions (pingipung 20) was overwhelming. the cooperation between the drummer-producer from hamburg and musicians from kenya links electroni- ca with african recordings in a unique, exciting fa- shion. it therefore has been and still is being praised in various scenes from techno to jazz to world mu- sic. the cd will receive the award preis der deut- schen schallplattenkritik in may 2011, category: nu and extreme. also friends of the label have been enthusiastic about e quality of this material. pingipung therefore re- leases a 10inch vinyl with reworks of the album in the end of may. lawrence, hamburgs most melancholy house artist, co-owner of the labels dial, smallville and laid dedicates himself to the track kayamba tuc tuc. he reduces the track to its essen- ce, without adding anything new, and edit full of wisdom with heartfelt warmth. taprikk sweezee is the best known moniker of the musician nikolai von sallwitz next to gizmog or fussel . taprikk sweezee builds his soul glitch beats with ease, and he is by the way the most convincing electronic performer we know these days. one single track was not enough for his mix. wed love to see him dance with all the kenyan musicians who play on his two originals of choice, kayamba tuc tuc and mariae. furthermore on this 10inch: a rework of paperflowers by sven kacirek himself, created in cooperation with samy de- luxe producer sebastian winkler. finally, less a bonus but maybe the secret highlight: the ex- clusive sven kacirek track takaye village!

absolute stonking techno turnaround from hotflushs sigha ! 3 tracks to change the game, serious business ! back to normal releases now for blueprint after the final instalment of regis and ruskins ost-traumatic son project. emerging from the more experimental side of the dubstep scene in late 2008 with a number of releases on the much lauded hotflush recordings imprint, sighas sound has evolved into a deep, dark, introspective take on techno. he has also worked with echocord, metalheadz and immerse among others and runs the >our circula sound< label.

new vocal 12 inch on wph....tip! it should be obvious by now that we here at the wph camp are keen on real vocals. so while the rest of the world is busy sampling and recycling vocals from the past, leave it up to us to pick out those tracks that feature fresh and home made vocals. although wph 012 by dj yellow also indulges in a little bit of recycling, or rather good old fashioned licensing. the title track >night in tranzylvania< has been a huge favourite with label boss red d and his belgian crowd ever since it was released on the criminally overlooked album >intermission< on project recordings in 2008. but now it is back in all its glory and supported by >angels part< a killer ambient track which also featured on that album album, >je tm<, a new track by dj yellow and a russ gabriel remix of the title track.

>sooner or later< by tom clark and martin eyerer is a classy and solid club tune. both masterminds are offering their own >sooner or later< interpretation on this release. tom clarks mix shows a rough and full body, clear structures and is highly seductive. martin eyerers mix is softer with a touch of minimalistic retro-chic. as both interpretations enjoy the same musical introduction the personality of each stands out even stronger making it a treat to the listeners ears. the daniel dreier & dale remix is an intense opposite to the original versions a techno-esque and sparkly ear feast, while the adrian martin & klangwerk remix has a softer approach pairing addictive beats to an ecstasized bass line. all in all >sooner or later< is a 4 track release featuring 4 outstanding visions of the moment in-between sooner or later, a vision for each and every one of us.

incarnations are back with an overwhelming 12 inch, just in time for the summer. remix action comes from ilya santana and his trademark spacediscopop, wareika bringing the deepness and rayko offering a shot of synth-driven discoid eighties. >meet me at midnight< is an exquisite hand-crafted pop piece, where you can clearly hear echoes of america (the band, not the continent), among many other things. it has summer written all over it and allow us to say that is the kind of song that makes you a better person.
ilya santana takes the original and drives it deep into space, without losing its amazing pop feel. wareika take over >make you mine< and bring it deeper than deep, close to maurizio, in a superb remix. and last but not least, madrids own edit maestro rayko shows us his powerful approach to the song getting the most out of his synth collection!

unos second release comes from montreals jacques greene. in his north american debut, we bring you two new tracks that reveal a darker, acid housed side of the lauded producer. lay it down unites bass swing with a floor shaking acid line thats known to make rooms dance like autism. new york house standards whatever/whatever give the flip side a jacking make over of 90s proportions. the hard hitting >what are you feelin< (which has been received much uk in the past year, including mary ann hobbs bbc show) finishes off the 12 inch, builds up the grand finale, after which you might find yourself in a puddle of something wet, wondering where greene went.

their debut three tracker ep has a theme running through it.. yup, its all about sides. first up is a riff you may well know from trevor horn and fgth. they take the tribe groove, slow it down and strip the groove back. using just the riff from the famous 80s monster hit they cunningly carve out >two sides< as their sultry opener. next up >by my side< enlists the help of the handily associated brass section. shuffling grooves, stabby horns and muted picked guitar are the order of the day. its a perfect one for those early dj-set appetizing sections. to round things off we tone it down even further with the beautiful >by my side<. subtle tones, lazy keys and a smouldering groove. when the keys kick in during the last minute its a glorius and sublime treat. stay tuned for more sides.

mister saturday nights eamon harkin dishes out another dose of rocking revamps on this the second release from his subway series imprint. this time the throne of blood man takes three numbers which should be somewhat recognizable to discerning ears and mutates them into jams designed firmly for the dance floor. >party out of sight< is a superb re-work of the bill withers seminal harlem. this edit made its first mark a few years ago in an earlier guise on mp3 but has now been further spruced and improved for wax. >the better kind< stretches out joy divisions >means to an end< and underpins it with a rocking drum pattern whilst >turn up the funk< is an excellent re-work of the proto hip-hop number >shoot the pump< from back in the day. a real bumper package!

the black tokyo project cd has been very successful for the enigmatic duo from detroit along with their two new japanese members ice truck and erika. remix sessions 1 embodies some of techno music hottest and charismatic artist such as bpitch control ellen allien, planet es keyboard guru niko marks from detroit and canada live impresario arthur oskan. ellen allien remix real to reel gives a tight minimal beat driven retake on an aux 88 funky groove. rounding out side a aux 88 original previously only available on the full length cd. side b shows why niko marks can take the >title track black tokyo< in a more kraftwerken sort of way with heavy beautiful strings and funkified groove. soul of black shows arthur oskan dance production skills as he delivers a bonafide minimal bass driven delight.

faze action maintain their fine run of form in 2011 with this four tracker from the shack, aka guy williams and dan williams (not related!) both have been active in dance music from the early 90s, with guy holding dj residencies at clubs such as the ministry of sound and turnmills during their pomp while dan williams aka d.r.w carved a career as a singer/songwriter. together as the shack they have absolutely nailed it with >touch it<, a sleazy-does-it italo peak time jam. arpeggiated synth lines, catchy vocal hooks and instant bassline work in jotous unison with some cowbell carnage. the 12 inch comes replete with a dub version and boogie influence faze action remix. rounding off the release is another original cut, namely >dont stop, in which tough drums combine with a late night vocal intoning the track title to bewitching effect. this shack attack has already found its way into the record bags of pete herbert and severino - expect it to be in many more come summer s end.

yam who?s ism label come through with a four track slice of disco centric futurism, featuring the man yam himself alongside pbr streetgang and ron basejam. its the latter who takes the lead with a remix of alenas >changes< that sees her sultry vocal teased by a most excellent of analogue synth leads that splurges brilliantly across the crisp mid tempo chug. yam who? teams up with vocalist natasha watts for the similarly bottom heavy bump of >i m in love< which has a certain warehouse appeal to it. on the flip, pbr pay respect to the godfather of soul james brown with the gritty flex of >j2thab< with the sadly departed mr brown strangely sounding at times like he wants to go to tesco. we always took him for a waitrose man, but regardless this is probably the track you will reach for most! finally brothers young do their thing to a trammps classic, with little more than the bassline retained.

traxx - who has productions with international deejay gigolos and creme organization under his belt - is the man behind the third release from fledgling imprint lumberjacks in hell, following sterling efforts from spanish edits don rayko and the mysterious em vee. sprawled luxuriously across the a side is the epic 13 minute ode to danielle baldelli, >to the beat bizarre<, all tumbling drums, tangerine dream synths, and perfectly timed claps and keys. >an insane experiment<, influenced by ron hardy, clocks in at a meagre 09:47 and is characterised a straight up jacking rhythm, with junkyard drums, eerie synth squiggles and truly weird robotic gurgles trading blows before the track morphs into a full on acid wigout. in a word, awesome.

a very special release here from legendary rave producer eon, aka ian loveday. loveday, who passed away in 2009, was known and loved for his enduring impact on uk dance culture, although sadly this was the one and only release on his zarnak records imprint (although loveday himself released 12 inches on a host of labels including pal sl, vinyl solution and plus 8). upon release the papal magnet 12 inch sold out swiftly and soon became a highly sought after record - this batch was found recently and has been passed onto us with the blessing of lovedays family. on the a side you will find the relentless late night throb of >cable rider< - 90s techno at its finest. flip over for the moody introspection of >passing clouds< and raw, dusty analogue thump of >crosstown< - our pick of the bunch. an excellent release.

parisian label my love is underground calls on the service of kool vibe, a veteran dj & clubber from paris. although now in his 40s, this is his debut release, but to hijack a well worn phrase, its been worth the wait. mr vibe has clearly spent many a night on discerning dancefloors, and the three tracks on offer here are produced with the steady hand of someone who knows their way around a house tune.

jeroen verheij has been churning out dance floor smashing tracks for almost as long as many of todays clubbers can remember under his aliases secret cinema, grooveyard and meng syndicate to name a few. tracks like timeless altitude, mary go wild (ec records) and kurzweil (cocoon) invoke warm memories in many of us. in december of 2009 verheij set up his own label gem records and started to release the unique sound he is famous for as a dj. now, just over a year later, gem releases its first full album - and this ep is the first preview from it!
