munich based slam city jams kicks off 2019 with their 5th release. label heads rhode & brown gather four of their favorite artists from around the world to remix last year’s successful wave 100 ep. with remixes by bell towers (public possession), mr. ho (klasse wrecks), c.k (regelbau) and bostro pesopeo (permanent vacation).

label head honchos rhode & brown finally debut on their own imprint, slam city jams, after putting out music on fellow labels toy tonics and public possession. produced over the past two years, the wave 100 ep might be the most versatile record by the munich-based fellas so far. on the title track we have an euphoric hint of 80s synth nostalgia, slapped bass and banging woodsticks (did someone say safri duo?!). sparkle on a2 feels like the joy of a fresh breeze on hot summer days whilst living la vida loca in the clouds - b/w phat bass, sweet flutes & strings. on the flip there is love lane, a classic house track with a funked up bassline, shuffling snares and the most erotic vocal in human history. moon bells on b2 is the soundtrack to that road trip you did back in 86 with a juno 106 arpeggiator bassline, percussive drums and airy synths all around. over europe on b3 rounds off this special 5-tracker with beautiful ambient spheres straight from outta space.

slam and obscure shape & shdw step up for the second wave of radio slave ‘grindhouse’ remixes on rekids this february. one of techno’s most iconic records, ‘grindhouse’ first appeared on radio slave’s ‘no sleep’ series before spawning multiple remixes from dubfire, danton eeprom, terence fixmer and nic fanciulli. kick-started by len faki, last year saw the announcement of a series of remixes with more to come from vatican shadow, markus suckut, lady starlight and special request. complete with relentless kicks, sinister drones and industrial elements, part two is not for the faint-hearted. starting with slam, the soma bosses keep things dark, with rattling top lines and echoing effects resulting in a truly decadent techno floor destroyer. following a remix of radio slave’s ‘vision’ in 2016, obscure shape & shdw’s abilities are held in high regard by the rekids owner and their rework of ‘grindhouse’ reinforces why. complete with a rumbling lowend, metallic melodies and soaring synths, the from another mind founders continue to establish themselves as two of techno’s most exciting names.

long time friend of the label myler finally makes his south london analogue material debut with ‘lord of the asbo’. the ep starts with driving kicks, hypnotic wandering synths and the noisy dissonant stabs of ‘mandem’ before taking a more melancholy turn. ‘shutter windows’ slows things down with eerie echoes, dusty thudding kick drums and subtle synths before ‘whiskey & white women’ finishes the last of the originals with a drum track full of trippy percussion and masterful groove. bad boy keepsakes is back on the label after slam003 and finishes the ep with his take on ‘shutter windows’.

the second installment of re interpretations form slams latest, critically acclaimed album reverse proceed sees soma look to yet more highly regarded techno artists to provide their reimaginings of their favourite tracks from reverse proceed. long time soma collaborator gary beck makes a welcome return to the label alongside fellow scottish upstarts clouds and finally dutch techno wizard, jeroen search. each brings their inimitable style to the project.

the next dds release comes from labelowner gianni aka washerman himself, this time under his moniker azuni.

2015 repress edition, finally back on the market! on the a side it s the massive pan pot remix of room 2 while the flip features two other famillar slam tracks.

dustin zahn has gained over 10 years of experience a unique musical diversity as a producer and as a performer. after his recent release on drumcode he is on suara with this enormous ep. *calm like a bomb* is a constant and regular bomb dropping that if you start dancing it will leave you exhausted. it is such a powerful track! this amazing track comes backed with two remixes from two of the best producers in the worldwide scene: paco osuna and slam. osuna does an incredible groovier and darker production while slam brings the cut to another techno level. this is definetely one of the eps of the year!

deep down slams first 2014 release is a collaboration between london based producer mikki funk who already made a name to himself releasing on labels like say ahh & milf and should be already known to many of you and berlin based producer peer du who makes his debut.

having previously reissued *i want you to know*, the 1991 gem from simonellis groove committee project, deep down slam now return with a remix package. leading the way is italian house producer nicholas in collaboration with marcoradi, with the original s vibe very much intact but complemented by some fresh new beats and arrangement. the second remix comes from french house producer dj steaw who brings the usual quality and gives the remix the classic steaw touch we re used to know. zurich based italian producer demetrio giannice conjures the spirit of vintage tom moulton on his remix and deep down slam have also included simonellis original bonus beats version from 1991 that was mastered by legendary nyc mastering engineer rick essig.

right after the release of their nineth ep, the slam jam neroli series is back once again. as usual, expect a wild mix of disco jazz funk gospel and fusion with the classic sjnrl edge. djs as theo parrish and sadar bahar drop regularly sjnrl numbers, so you know its the real thing! will be the 10th release the very last one????

ddsr005 comes from the new york city based newcomer edgar m. a house producer by trade, this is edgar ms debut release but it doesnt show, demonstrating an ear for sound aesthetics and dynamics that immediately caught the attention of deep down slam. his track >oscillate< is a little masterpiece, rich with musicality and vintage sounding production techniques that are reminiscent of early strictly rhythm. this ep sounds just like it came straight out of 1991 and was entirely produced on vintage hardware/analog based equipment. to complement this release we have zurich based house producer donato capozzi on the remix duties who delivers a great dub version of >that strut<. this is a release for the lovers and vintage sounding house diggers out there, ny touch guaranteed!

victor simonellis groove committee alias inspired much of the upbeat vocal house we hear today thanks to seminal releases on nu groove records in the early 90s. simonellis *i want you to know*, from the eponymous ep released in 91, enjoys a rerelease and remix overhaul on the upstart deep down slam label. inner senses knows the truth mix boosts the overall presence of simonellis original, by reinforcing the drums, hats and chords with deft touches of neoteric sound design, while deep down slam label-head washerman opts for cut up and interspersed vocals and loopy instrumentation in his mix. french house ball of fire kool vibe, turns up the heat - and punch - in his chord riffing remix, paying homage to a originator that has no doubt influenced his own productions.

dark maneuvres is a track which lives up to its name, the original expressing pumping, dark and crunchy sounds interspersed with string arrangements and overdubs which move the track in various different directions. the 1996 original is a great example of some production techniques of the time and is of interest in identifying the direction of the techno sound in that era, as well as being eminently listenable. slam were very much involved in the progression of techno at the same time as envoy was creating tracks such as dark manoeuvres and as such they have a real handle on how things have evolved, enabling them to bring a classic release such as this bang up to date. the distinctive hook, attention-grabbing melody and strings which are distinctive elements of the original are all incorporated in a full and fresh dynamic which sees some of these elements regrouped in individual sections such as the strings or moulded with deeper, darker resonance into a new expression.
