repress - gus gus aus island zählen ganz ohne zweifel zu den wenigen dance-acts, die sich seit mehr als anderthalb jahrzehnten kontinuierlich oben halten konnten. lange zeit waren sie beim legendären indie-label 4ad unter vertrag, nun erscheint ihr zweites album bei der superrenommierten kölner elektronik-plattform kompakt, wo sie im jahr 2009 als trio wieder zu hochform aufliefen. >arabian horse< ist nun zwar nicht minder elektronisch, aber stilistisch zwischen electro, pop, techno und soul deutlich breiter aufgestellt. obendrein markiert >arabian horse< die rückkehr des gus gus-sängers earth. ebenso wieder an bord ist hogni elisson von hjalatin. mit >arabian horse< ist dem isländischen kollektiv ein fantastisches album gelungen, das an eine fast vergessene Ära in den frühen 90er-jahren erinnert, als the beloved mit ihrem dance-pop maßstäbe setzten, klassische house-musik ihren kreativen höhepunkt erreichte und massive attack eine neue urbane soul-musik erschufen

re-release! 2x12 inch + dl , gute luft is the result of months of work scoring the hit german tv film 24h berlin - the longest documentary film in history which featured 80 camera teams following the lives of berliners over a 24 hour period. obviously a huge challenge for fehlmann, beyond the scope of the project and hours of music involved in a 24 hour film, there was dealing with the decision making process that went with working with such a large production team. as he shared scoring duties with another musician (separately), inevitably a lot of his music ended up not making the final cut. gute luft is about re-tweaking and editing material from the countless hours of recording he had created. in a sense, gute luft is fehlmanns ideal soundtrack to the 24h berlin documentary.

re-release! you thought it was a joke when we released a record named after colognes local beer, kÖlsch. but you were wrong. rune riley kölsch is not a joke. he is a tall danish guy and its quite likely that you have already heard some of his tracks out in a club. maybe something from his amazing ink & needle series on his own tattoo imprint or the track he is most known for: calabria feat. crystal waters. after his impressive debut on kompakt extra >loreley/rheingold< he is back with another killer double header. >opa< is one of the most unusual but yet amazingly effective techno tracks we have heard this year. its steroid-driven funk with a heavily mental edge and powerful enough to lift the roof of any club. >der alte< pays tribute to germanys long running tv series the old man with a rather juvenile sounding piano anthem that sits comfortably between balearic disco and detroit techno. prost, mr kölsch!
