we kick off 2011 with the latest collaborative plate of bristol-based build badness – label boss baobinga cooking up two what-do-you-call-it tracks with one of 2010s breakthrough producers, the man they call hyetal. starting 2010 with a huge punch drunk release alongside shortstuff, hyetal further refined his sound through collaborations with peverelist, and the massive prince-tastic anthem >phoenix< on orca – which can be found sitting proudly at number 36 in fact magazines tracks of the year run-down. with some big releases due in 2011, and more velour beats (with julio bashmore) on the way, we are very excited to have him involved in a build release.

nice price deal !!! souled are back after a years break to build their studio and get their record label fresh minute music rolling and it seems to have done the trick with support for the label from radio 1s annie mac, gilles peterson, rod da bank and toddla t and plays on kiss 100, 1 xtra and galaxy as well as where it really matters on the worlds dancefloors from heavy weight djs benji b, karizma, martyn, floating points, joy orbison, kyle hall, kode 9, louie vega, osunlade, recloose and rainer truby. the labels tracks have also landed on fabric, ministry of sound and soul jazz compilations and have been licenced to america, south africa and japan. not bad for a years work and now their first 4 track album (finished in the newly built studio) is getting some heat. support so far from gilles peterson (radio 1), phil asher, simbad, mad mats (raw fusion), rocky (xpress 2), craig smith (6th borough project), julio bashmore, kay suzuki, green money, sy sez (aprodisiax), robert owens and patrick forge.

remix #1 is one the favorites of the entire project. claude met brazils dj marky on an artist bus at a uk festival last summer and gave him the track >aundy<. he asked him to do a mix and marky and his friend s.p.y. turned in this amazing drum n bass version. numerous artists have been dropping it even in the middle of house sets! it really captures the drum n bass feeling of the original track taking it back to the genre which inspired it.
remix #2 is from our up and coming bristol based bass prodigy, julio bashmore. he takes on >california< the co-production by cvs and j phlip to another level, adding smooth low end bukem style bass drops and shimmery vox/pad programming to the already insane track. bashmore is one of the few new breed of uk producers who cross over all the way from house to dubstep.
