it sounded all right through two walls, so what s the problem? the final words of two walls, the fast and very catchy leading track of dj marcelle s new record, sum up an aesthetic almost lost in today s musical climate, where often a pleasing attitude and overproduced music sadly rule, even in so-called alternative circles. the quote comes from the late mark e. smith (1957 - 2018), legendary frontman of the fall, and is taken from some of the conversations marcelle had with smith over the years. smith is referring to a recording process but for marcelle his words stand for something bigger.

celebrating 10 years as a label, rekids founder radio slave delivers a mesmerizing production with a remix from ostgut ton’s marcel dettmann. since its birth in 2006 matt edwards’ rekids has played host to some of today’s most renowned names in house and techno, including the likes of nina kraviz, roman flu&#776,,,gel, shed and mr. g. with releases on the likes of r&s and running back, radio slave is one of the world’s finest producers, whose dance-floor focused cuts earned him the title of resident advisor’s most charted artist of 2015.
radio slave’s ‘vision’ is a dusky number possessing popping kicks and ebbing pads that meander forward as a murky voice proclaims the track title. meanwhile, marcel dettmann’s remix distorts the original whilst emphasising the low-end to give it a dark and ominous aesthetic.

for finitude music s 5th release, label owner marcel heese and alexander kowalski aka d_func. share their visions on thought control. both tracks on the ep harbour the same intent, but each of them approaches it in a different way. d_func. s take revolves around sahko-like bleeps, if you are into early mika vainio or sleeparchive, look no further! but instead of being loopy, it s definitely a builder. its original trance track-like structure is sure to rock many an underground dancefloor. marcel s vision is slower and less straight-forward but creates and maintains a high tension. based on dense a bassline and intricate soundscapes, it builds up slowly, only to explode halfway through. an extra payoff also comes at the very end of a track, its noise/ambient outro making a perfect way to wrap up an amazing party at 8am somewhere deep in the heart of berlin.
