following the stunning and bestselling debut from das volt has taken the lna boys a little longer than expected, but boy was it worth the wait ! having forged a keen army of converts to their late night audio club nights & establishing a reputation as one of london’s best underground parties, it was only a matter of time before they started their own label to release the music they & their party people love to dance to. expect the finest in deep electronic house, balearic boogie and italo flavours, all expertly mastered onto luxurious vinyl with slick graphic artwork. toby tobias really needs no introduction, his productions have graced some of the worlds finest underground labels, and his debut lp on matt radioslave edwards rekids won unanimous praise. macasu is a solid dancefloor piece, layers of slick percussion, plenty of low end girth and enough of tobys trademark dubbed-out and lysergic track trickery to usher in the summers al fresco dancing perfectly. the mighty danilo plessow, otherwise known as motor city drum ensemble is at the top of his game right now, selling crazy units on his raw cuts series & almost single-handedly converting an army of minimalistas into disco darlings ! in his own words made for breezy summernights, open air, near the beach, beautiful people around you, and the dj spinning slow sexy jams like this. enjoy! a killer release folks, which won’t be around for long !

mabaan soul are back on metroline limited with their third release for the label. the talented italian duo have been causing a stir in the house and techno underground world with their 2009 release on metroline being charted by chicago legend dj sneak in his best of the year chart! on top of that, another house legend satoshi tomiie after hearing their debut new orleans ep on metroline limited, promptly asked the guys to release on his label saw recordings! the opening track joseph is jacking disco groove with an insistent bass hook and infectious lead synth. summer is nearly here! frankfurt, is a love song for the original robert johnson crew - the good people of frankfurt who really know what they’re dancing to. its an intense 5am grind that brings driving european warehouse techno together with the deep soulful grooves of detroit house. inxec and matt tolfrey pump up the midrange on their remix. they pick out a nice groove, and build on it with bright and airy percussion while maintaining the original disorientating shuffle and boomin low end. funky is definitely back. that rolling bassline keeps you locked in, and those brutal mpc-style percussion loops are would make marley marl proud.

I THINK IM GONNA LIKE
12 Inch
21.05.10
here we have a double a-side 12-inch, with an intriguing new development of the secondo sound. still banging, still aimed at the club but with a sense of maturity and laid-backness, that the previous secondo material for dreck records might not have been centred around. the whole outlook has become more house orientated and we are very excited about this new mixture of the secondo splice-funk with the steadiness of early 90s house generating its own idiosyncratic sound. on the a-side, i think im gonna likeestablishes the housey mood of the 12straight off. a brief vocal sample is dotted over a relaxed rhythm until a break mid-track introduces the second half to its full extent and bloom. ædoktor panglosson the b-side continues with the mid-tempo flavour set out by the aside and is defined by a steady build up towards a disco sample beautifully placed towards the end of the track, where a heavy bass line cuts short the euphoria of disco strings. the sampling and references in both tracks have been pushed to the background and mentioning any of them would not do this exciting new material any justice. its all fresh!
STAR PEACE (LP)
12 Inch LP
20.05.10
the droids beamed down to planet earth in the year 1978. yves hayat aka droids, was a young label manager at the seminal french disco label barclay in the seventies. >star peace<, originally released in 1979 is his concept to the classic sci fi movie >star wars< out that year. featuring the french space synth classic >(do you have) the force<, in both parts, this lp goes from strength to strength with spaced out lullabys >inner space< & >tchough fou<, before kicking back into the groove with >be happy< an assault to the senses with its manic synth lines running riot over heavy funk overtones. the flip kicks off with >shanti dance< parts 1 & 2, sleezy robot-funk work outs that are inter-joined to make a 6 minute continually evolving piece of music. the closing eight-and-a-half- minute >renaissance de l amour< is a tour de force of cinematic synthscapes, bleeps, bloops and world rhythms, before dropping in the drums 6 minutes in to ignite any dancefloor. this is light years ahead of its time.

tres gueros are three white brooklynites led by the amorphous producer sleazy mcqueen. this collaboration as a whole has been a few years in the making with two vocalists, two guitar players and if that wasnt enough, he brought in beef wellington for some additional synthesizing work.
this is a feel good indie-dance track that you will keep any crowd dancing. we have got some great remixers on board from nu-disco gurus anthony mansfield who runs hector works with partner and crime nick chacona. neighbour and his signature disco-house sound, along with newcomer dave allison who runs kinjo music. for good measure sleazy mcqueen has added a big room dub!

its a bakers dozen for ray mangs ever reliable mangled imprint! despite being more than adept at mining out long lost classics & wielding the edit scissors, ray has asked us to make it clear that this ep, much like the last couple of mangled releases are original works (sure there are a few samples here and there, but hey!) what you can be sure of is that this mighty trio are super effective where it counts, thoroughly road-tested and very much in demand as with everything on mangled the revived label and rays recent smash on dfa, not to mention his accomplished dj sets, has pushed him back to the forefront of a scene he was instrumental in forming. having been behind a plethora of releases on cult uk nu-disco labels like noid, fiasco, u star, nuphonic etc etc over the years he has cemented his reputation as an amazing producer in his own right as well a studio engineer extraordinaire for the likes of the idjut boys, glimmers & many more.
1st on side a: big disco boogie re-edited, kicks off with guitar riff building up with female vocal, filtered breaks then comes into main vocal parts.
2nd tune on side a: summery disco with breezing feel, uptempo percussion intro, funky boogie riff into catchy horn section with leads synth… one for the beach session!
1st on side b: mighty disco edit. after the first break the tune really kicks into funky groove with strong female vocal with infectious chorus. keep your attention high!
2nd tune on side b: slowly build up track with big synth lead brings >oh baby< chorus, it holds groovy riff all the way through.

the phenomenal handclap band out of nyc dropped a brilliant debut album last year and first single >15 to 20< was a stand out track. hector works label founder anthony mansfield got the opportunity to remix the track and was so into the tune that he rinsed two versions. while these versions got widespread exposure and distribution from both friendly fire and gomma, anthonys remixes were until now digital only. we want our records! the disco mix is a slower funk version using the catchy vocals over a helping of sweet disco dubûthe punk funk mix uses all the elements of the track and points it for a dance floor!
von spar is an artist collective from germany consisting of sebastian blume, jan philipp janzen, phillip tielsch and christopher marquez. the cologne-berlin quartet serves up a veritable ear-worm as an amuse bouche prior to their third album >foreigner<, which will be released at the end of may 2010 on italic recordings. the four deliver a rousing anthem enriched with a krauty disco groove and soulful close-harmony vocals for all of those late-night culture-vultures, oddballs and mother-in-laws nightmares propping up the bars at the discotheques of this world.

second release on the new ibadan offshoot, public service recordings. >life story< gets the ball rolling with some bumping disco-fueled peaktime house, with a strong female vocal dominating atop a bed of funky bass, stellar synth lines, and solid house beats. yohan squares >love of life< takes the mood a little deeper with some lush late night house, blending sweeping textured synth lines behind a deep bassline groove and shuffling late night house beats. on the reverse, julian jonahs >jealousy of lies< is a detroit-flavored late night houser, with textured synth lines, a stellar spoken male vocal, and laidback beats and bassline all combining perfectly. last up is >rey-d<, a deep late night track that utilizes some fairly bumping beats behind a minimal bassline and rich chords for some minimal floor grooves.
