reissue - k-hand, the undisputed -first lady- of detroit house and techno, continues her series of rereleases for some of acacia records most sought after catalog. acacia s reputation as music from a well known place to an unknown destination precedes it with a reach that is once again being expanded upon. originally making its mark in 1993, -not giving up- is a piano chord led number with eccentric disco era falsetto vocals interspersed between a house diva counterpart, all undercut by equally classic rough around the edges low end - touching on hand s influences from the new york golden days. the plastic dream mix is a more sinister springboard of sounds with an urgent energy sure to rip through speaker stacks and leave audiences in shreds. easily its dreamiest incarnation, the disco dream adaptation lends itself to bouncier, filtered grooves and vocal dubs. the ghetto growl of -beat that bitch wit a stick- was and still remains a huge track for k-hand and the label. pulling from a sound that originated in chicago, it became equally prominent in detroit through the work of hand and others. its accompanied here by an instrumental version for those that don t share in the street logic, but nonetheless love the gritty production style. finally, the legendary claude young s mix of - deep down 2- sees him implementing wavering chords and loopy vocals with a purposefully loose nyc stutter

davide disanto is an amazing italian producer born in bari, after multiple releases on excellent labels such as let s play house, politics of dancing or even theory of swing, he delivers us a fabulous 12 inch which borrows as much from the heyday of the purest new-york city 90s deep house as well as the purest techno made in detroit. the 1st track from this ep seems to have come straight from an imaginary collaboration between boo williams & ron trent, the violence of the rhythm is counterbalanced by some airy & ultra deep pads, the aptly named atmosfear. a banger as we rarely hear today. c mon, let me see on a2 sounds like a modern take on the awesome jerzzey boy. on the b side, da love feeling (main mix) & le (4am underground dub) revisits the 90s once again for our greatest pleasure, particularly the latter seems to have come straight out of a lost mix of the great danny tenaglia. and to end this ep in style, davide allows himself the luxury of summoning the spirit of mbg and all the best italian deep house from the early 90s on the superb lungomare (ambient reprise). essential item !

revelation ep is the debut release of australian record label denude, showcasing the latest work of melbourne based artist eddie hale. the title track revelation is both driving and warm - layered percussion lines rise and fall amongst detroit inspired stabs and subtly textured elements creating an infectious and uplifting groove. a2’s surging is both tunnelling and driving - straight into late night / early hours territory - with swirling sounds forming a hypnotizing sonic bath for the body and mind. rounding up the a side with a change of pace, aperture’s syncopated percussion leads us on a peaceful detour through ethereal synthscapes as we follow the round journey of an evolving sound that travels full circle. on the flip, joel mull’s hypno mix of revelations propels the listener with mechanical precision through dizzyingly expansive atmospheres of truly mind melting proportions. closing out the ep is terrace of an elephant, tranquil and reflective synth-work juxtaposed with coloured stabs striking through like comets across the night sky - brings us back down to earth in a contemplative mood.
