freska belongs to the new generation of artist not bound to follow one genre. his releases therefore differ enormously. he states in his biography that he was influenced by music from black sabbath to kraftwerk, but this just implies the range of music and is not really to be grasped.

phonica records limited offshoot returns with a second 12 inch from the man that kickstarted the label iori. the okinawan producer, whose >galaxy / urge< 12 inch won praise from across the board, has been working prolifically and this is only a brief glimpse of things to come. first up is >spatiotemporal< - a ten and a half techno odyssey towards the deeper echelons of the genre. starting off as a simple drum attern, >spatiotemporal< slowly but steadily builds up, with iori bringing layer after layer of synths proper mid-paced cosmic techno!! its definitely one of those tracks that need to be left to do their work preferably on a loud soundsystem! on the flip, weve secured the remix talents of one of the hottest names in techno at the moment. all the way from cold sweden, skudge have made quite a name for themselves in the last year, with solid releases on their own imprint. their remix of >grit< more than exceeded our expectations. its a masterpiece of stripped down techno that brings to the fore all the parts we like from the original, while taking it in a completely different direction. special artwork by pedro carvalho de almeida.

australian producer philip mcgarva aka microworld is well known for his releases on transmat and styrax, both of which instantly became sought-after techno classics. dutch label adepth audio is proud to present microworlds new >time before techno< ep, with the title track another classic in the making.
microworlds signature is clearly evident throughout - the slow smooth build-up, with every new sound revealing extra dimensions within the music. definitely an after hours track that will go straight to your soul. the second track >ism< is a minimal but effective rhythm, a driving bassline, a catchy synthesizer and vocal sample that will stick in your head. canadian producer arthur oskan chose to remix >ism< and rebuild it into a pulsating 9 minute club track overflowing with warm synthesizers.

space junky is the track that first brought bosco delrey to public attention, landing him pieces on the fader, rcrdlbl and elsewhere. it features his typical excess of influences- semi-psychedelic guitars, bedroom soul hooks, splurting dancehall reggae basslines- anchored down by solid songwriting and lyrics. it s a weirdly great combination that made us think this guy might be on to something. my my racecar is harder to pin down, but no less intriguing with a chopped up guitar lead, mouth pop rhythm section and zipping bass. the drop the lime influence shines on these two tracks, lending heavy bass, sound effects and making everything crispy.

back after a well deserved holiday the planet rhythm comes hard with another slammer. driving techno from start to finish by luky r.d.u on the a1. the next track by a.paul is a wicked rhythmic workout from another planet. exium last but not least takes control of the flip with two massive techno workouts! heavy bass and crazy drums in the style of their latest music masterpieces on pole and warm up. this is quality techno!

velvet: a great techno classic gets the full c series overhaul. bang up to date and a perfect floor filling package. tribal percussion rattles along with a speaker throbbing bassline which drops seamlessly into that well known synth from the original. the main lead is then tinkered, wrapped around, and flipped to breathe new life and give us a new shade of velvet. intergalactic:doesnt need much of an introduction, the title pretty much gives it away. the beastie boys go techno! another dance floor smash and grab here beastie style. vocals used effectively.. not too much not too little but with the fused with the rest of the track it brings out so much energy, the percussion, the toms in the background, the stabs throughout the track makes everyone in the room jump!

emanating from japan, and discovered by eric d (of rub n tug fame). these re-edit masterclasses would never have gotten outside of their native market. luckily a helping hand from one of nycs most hyped party throwers has guaranteed a wider audience! all the combis so far have sold out in a matter of days and are now exchanging hands for silly money. this release has another glorious duo of obscure but super high quality dancefloor friendly edits. the price is a little more than we d usually like to charge, but if it wasnt for us, you d be buying these as japanese imports!

new kanada is honored to have the awesome murr (aka nicholas murray) take the reins on the next release. dusty drums, worn-out pads and a deep respect for the early beatsmiths, nick always creates an atmosphere in his tracks that is definitely not the flavor of the month - but rather the taste of the year. on the a-side, >noise in< is a tough dusty jacker, that builds from a tight dub intoa shimmering melodic bomb. feels like early transmat, late gherkin, or an americanized lfo. shuffle, simmer, and slam. the second cut on the a-side, >broken glass<, is a slamming ode to the sp1200. beats swung hard, percussion rattling the kilter way off, and a suffocating groove. watch out - the shards are sharp. on the b-side, marshall reshapes the original >noise in< into a brutal example of a tough mixing tool. heavy, pulsing basslines and an incessant jack groove. this one should move the floor. red, yellow and orange. rockit!

for this 10th wph release we looked towards belgiums finest raoul lambert aka raoul belmans aka one half of swirl people to follow up on his splendid wph blue b-side track 3 seconds released late 2009. raoul quickly sent us cinnamon dreams, the result of a long valencia-session with friend and fellow producer nacho marco, during which they apparently ate the whole spanish supply of belgian speculoospasta, a specialty that cannot be translated in english, but it contains cinnamon, hence the name of the track and the ep

michigan central station built in 1913 for the michigan central railroad, was detroit, michigans passenger rail depot from its opening in 1913 until the discontinuance of amtrak service on january 6, 1988. at the time of its construction, it was the tallest rail station in the world. the building, located in the corktown district of detroit still stands today, though it remains unoccupied. restoration projects and plans have gone as far as the negotiation process, but none have come to fruition. spread throughout the city of detroit and its surrounding metropolitan area, the decay of once magnificent buildings during the industrial revolution and automobile era now cast a shadow of despair on a once flourishing city. these monuments of achievement now lay barren and forsaken by city government. infrastructural restoration and city development are fundamental elements in detroits recovery, and the recovery of cities worldwide. it is time for revival in our cities, but first, in our souls. the michigan central station ep is a platform for this change.

nicolas reinbold and david lamant, have been studying and playing electro music for many years, but in 2009, they decided to link their musical knowledge and background to create a new musical project, called the outsiders. in order to make their project alive, they also created a label called elektro korp records. to date, they have made a vinyl call evaporate e.p. that feature two tracks from them and a remix from perc (c.l.r., drumcode, perc trax) they have pressed those tracks in limited edition (500 marbled vinyls).

bassbuero a.k.a. thomas ingold and his partner björn müller are long-year resident djs and promoters in our hive club and come around the corner with a smooth customer debut. the title could not be any more designative, as with this is not house music we have a knotless and outstanding 90s number with lots of pathos and - declaredly - they have looked over some shoulders of big protagonists from france. when the vocoder chords are crossing swords with this insane bassline, every ravers heart must beat at least one octave higher. this is the tune for a perfect sunrise and big feelings on the floor. on the flip we have gruber & nuernberg, some good pals of bassbuero that played in hive several times as well - they contribute a complete antipole to the the original. almost a bit trancey they spin the chords over a straight old school house groove, never let the basic spirit of the original out of sight and though don t forget to leave their very own traces on this remix. in addition we have - as with every release - a digital exclusive bonus track, that certainly does not deserve the rating house music - lets call it rather fidget than deep. but be sure, its all gone will blow your mind out.

theres movement in the formatik dog pen. the two format : b alpha dogs recently introduced their latest techno puppies with combined, and now theyre showing their teeth again. when dogs meet they dont just lick each others ears but also put on a silver dog tag. seeing as the three legged four leggers jakob and franziskus arent that happy being alone and are often seen dancing over the dog grounds wagging their tales they have decided to share their bowl with sebastien leger, the french production bulldog who always has a couple of remix scooby-snacks lying around somewhere. that is why they have given him one of their dog tags and have mutually decided that legers own dog club mistakes music will be going walkies with formatik on a regular basis. only the lady and the tramp is more romantic than that.

after leaving behind the somalian pirates, geiom is cruising the sunny waters of the indian ocean when he picks up a distress signal on his scanner. he follows the signal until he locates a tiny remote island and a guy called bowly, who said that he was on his way from france to the new world, but got totally lost. judging by the age of the map he was using its easy to see how. bowly spent his time on the island hanging out with the locals who amuse themselves by creating a unique style of music on some amazing handcrafted instruments. geiom helps bowly get on his way again, and leaves him with a more useful map. some months later, bowly beams over his music as a gift from his new found homeland in canada ? the tracks are like some strange mutation of those distant tropical players and the uk-based pirate radio transmissions that bowly has been tuning into ? geiom loves the result and decides to send them straight over to transition in london for mastering and release on berkane sol. this 12 has been getting played by selectors like ? subswara crew nyc (soul motive), brackles (rinsefm), grevious angel (soul jazz), martin kemp (blunted robots), cooly g (hyperdub), shortstuff (ramp), spamchop (wigflex), oneman (rinsefm)?

footandmouths second release, and what a hot little number it is. a familiar piano anthem gets not simply re-edited but gets a full reinterpretation replayed and re-envisioned with a contemporary feel. the a side features a full 12 minute momentous version, full of pathos and emotion, where the melody and keys are reworked over an insistent, hissing house groove. the flip features two shorter versions, a tougher punchier edit and a superb piano-pella. an amazing rework, that is sure to be one of the tunes of this summer. tune of the issue in the july edition of mixmag and being championed by anyone that can get their hands on a copy, expect to hear this everywhere!

italians do it better owner/traveling dj salesman/heavy record collector mike simonetti takes an edit to three very obscure 90s house tracks. we were able to recognize the a-side with some help. the track was altered significantly and intro extends and builds and builds and builds... the two tracks on the b-side sound like 90s japanese piano house and a happy house rave track flipped on 33 but to be honest, we have no idea what they are.

espania fast becoming the techno capital of europe! slight exageration perhaps, but maybe those days won t be too far away. the transhuman label bursts onto the scene with a very impressive 5 track ep from arcanoid and the transhumans. from the off, the label plants is flag slap bang in the middle between detroit and berlin, which geographically may be somewhere in the mid atlantic, but musically, you ll probably know what we mean. check postindustrial for a killer slice of techno the likes of which robert hood could be making these days

kenton slash demon is indeed one of the most promising new talents out of denmark. the two guys who are also behind the much acclaimed indie-disco band when saints go machine and have gained massive attention with their ksd act, without releasing a lot of material. why? the answer is simple: all they do is just so good. their sound is both organic and futuristic, and their obvious skills take their productions further than the typical frame and dramaturgy of club a track. still 4/4 rhythmic - but with clever and super melodic bass lines and interesting breaks. >sun< is the first release in a ksd trilogy on tartelet called >schwarzchild trilogy< inspired by the elements that form our galaxy. >the sun< 12inch features a remix from the much hyped alan abrahams aka portable / bodycode, from portugal who made added vocals, deepness and classic mr. fingers juno-6 bass line - deep and clever.

new label from dublin club promoter conor lynch. conor has been djing and promoting the pogo night for a number of years now, and has a very diverse music policy, with the underlying ethos of anything goes, as long as it is quality. guests have ranged from theo parrish, b12, carl craig, optimo through to the ting tings. the aim is to transfer the ethos from the vibrant club onto vinyl. this is certainly not the reason that we would consider taking on a label for distribution, but the fact that this release from dublin real techno producers tr-one, is as beautiful a slice of deep detroit styled techno as your likely to hear his side of the motor city, certainly is.
