the fourth installment in john osborns dred records series will be from fellow uk producer harsh puri who goes under the moniker reformed society. dred 004 consists of six tracks in total three that will appear on the vinyl release, followed by another three that will be digital-only exclusives. harsh puri aka reformed society debuted in 2015 with this being his sixth consecutive release in order. harshs productions caught johns eye, or rather ear, after being sent to him last year and resulted in this release of six solid prime time deep house stompers. packaged in an understated matte white sleeve with a black and white picture of brahma (the four headed hindu god of creation) handstamped on each cover by the label owner himself, this being a continuation of the human skull dred logo. one life opens the dimensions ep and is the track given to label boss john osborn for deconstructing and remoulding into his own specific vision each release will contain a rework from osborn. if you are familiar with johns previous work you will immediately recognize his characteristic resonating percussion, the tune being a deep house sci-fi storm expedition driven by a full luscious kick covering the tracks of chords from unsettled pads. the eps title track has ambient sonic rays flowing through it, being aptly named dimensions it is also the records warmest adventure, distorted percussion juggles sparse subaqueous melodic moments, and from here we go into the 12inches final moment, chasing titanoid. reformed society goes in with full yet silent force on this one. a warped bassline co-creates the groove with a particularly bouncy beat with sharp strings piercing though.

dense + pika remix seminal nervous records house tune rain by kerri chandler dense & pika are a british electronic production/artist/dj duo compromising of producer/djs alex jones (hypercolour label boss) and chris spero better known to many by his glimpse alias. the duo first came into fruition in mid 2011 with a number of white label releases. it wasnt long until they were noticed by scuba and have since had multiple releases under their belt on adam beyers drumcode, scubas acclaimed hotflush imprint and have branched out onto the elusive hypercolour. dense & pika have also been showing off their remixing talents by reworking the likes of adam beyer & ida engberg, digitalism, disclosure, kda, leftfield, maya jane coles, x-press 2 and also paul woolfords erotic discourse, which won the dj mag category for best remix in 2014.

next up in the apparel music limited series is loure with a 4 track ep which also includes a remix by saine. the name of this work by the aussie is smooth talk and it contains all the stylistic elements that make the melbournian one of the most talented in the scene at the moment. the ep kicks off with the title track which can be certified as a dancefloor banger with its solid rhythmics and the smooth synths playing along with a hint of acid keeps going with mutual motion which gives a display of what this guy can do in terms of creating spacey deep harmonies, such a groovy way to lower the tones before the remix of the 1st track smooth talk. saine here puts his signature once again with another banging tune crafted on loure sounds, adding his touch with deep percussions, a substantial compact beat with a bass-line that will get you carried away. the closing track is the right decompression after a journey through sounds: rolling snares, vocal samples chasing each other and a happy touch to finish in style.

a new year means new musical horizons here at the bordello. curses formed his sound in the distortion and sweat of back alley dive bar bars amidst the crash of guitars and the audible gulp of beer. hints of disco and wave balance this rougher edge, smoothing down those creased lines for a style that adheres to no boundaries. -pedal to the metal and don t look back- is a perfect introduction to curses multifaceted sound. beats orbit burbling bass and brash strings in a work of dreamy hypnotics. -knife in teeth- comes from a similarly shadowy lair. dark bars are further inked by industrial percussion in a track born on the factory floor to strict ebm parents. terr takes on -pedal to the metal and don t look back- and does the original proud. bass rumbles to the tune of a guttering engine before lighter notes take hold. murky currents are cleared by bright synth blasts in this uplifting remake. the bird of paradise closes the ep with his psychedelic take on -knife in teeth.- drums take on a more sinister tone as tribal rhythms give rise to jungle imagery and the immediate threat of what might lurk behind those supposedly innocent sounds.

producer victor �ticklah� axelrod is back with another supple reggae delight. after the success of the inversions last collaboration with bob & gene, axelrod once again takes a seat in the producer�s chair, this time with a tune a little deeper in the catalogue. originally tweezed from the beautiful mo do tape boondoggle, back in �05 - �06, this single has been a long-time favorite of the daptone family.

frame of mind is back with a re-issue of another unknown gem from the early 90 s. uk production team dave campbell and viv beeton are most known for their uk techno, rave and bleep classics as ubik. it is under the alias of timenet they released an obscure white label in limited quantities in 1992. this untitled and one-off 3-tracker remained fairly unknown up until today. it shows quite a different side of their stunning production talents. dishwasher is a rough drum machine work out topped with a wild bleepy sh101 synthline a la mr fingers. dx moods is a spaced out techno tune combining mysterious pads and crazy dx-100 programming. with on the move the uk pioneers come closest to their ubik sound: mad uk techno with a hint of rave. a previously unreleased and stripped down version of this track is included as well.

the 70s saw a growing interest in so called dub versions, an approach based on deforming, stripping and rebuilding the original tune and came known as dub music. king tubby along with other dub wizards such as, lee perry & prince jammy, were responsible for this exciting new dimension to jamaican music. however, most of these dub albums were pressed in very small quantities and disappeared quickly. one of those albums is dub expression by errol brown and the revolutionaries. no gimmicks on this one, he uses simple echo and delay, a few vocals sliding in and out, separate instruments floating on top, with respect to the melody of the tunes. a mixture of dub and instrumentals. enjoy these super tracks!

the next moton release comprises of three tracks carefully selected by love vinyls jake holloway. jake co-owns the second hand department in the store with the mighty zaf. he also is a graphic designer working for one of the world s most prestigious labels barely breaking even/bbe jake djs in around london with regular sets at brilliant corners, spiritland, servant jazz quarters and will be playing at the southern soul festival this summer in montenegro. when label bosses dave jarvis and diesel asked jake to choose the tracks for the release he soon got to work and come up with these three under the radar gems.. morning shunt is a ferocious afro/disco/reggae uptempo dancefloor bomb, hailing from london this fantastic genre crossing tune was ripe for an edit. jaques theme is another off-radar carib-disco banger which will appeal to both the disco and balearic heads. the bandit with it s tuff breaks and spanish guitar will also appeal to the balearic fraternity as well as the b-boys. so three tracks, all of which fall into differing genres making this a very different and varied sounding release!

seth troxler�s play it say it label opens up 2018 with another release from the highly regarded ataxia, who serve up their third ep for the imprint. the detroit duo impressed with their previous outings on the label, the supertouch ep back in july 2017 and the acid ep in 2016. since then they have also released on leftroom and nervous and continued their eight year residency at prominent detroit venue tv lounge. their fresh take on motor city techno often comes with flashes of acid and makes cyber punks ted krisko and eric ricker one of the most interesting pairs in the game. opening up the essential ep is �quicksand�, an immediately arresting and busy electro track with real machine soul. the bassline bubbles and boils underneath crisp percussion and emotive keys bring a sense of tenderness. it�s a macho cut with robust drums and is sure to win over any crowd. the fresh �hot snakes� is a deep, menacing track with dark bass gurgling beneath the airy hi hats. frazzled synths are dystopian and brain frying, and together the whole thing takes you into hypnotic territory with an intense sense of urgency that is impossible to ignore. last of all is the freakiest of the lot. the brilliant �texas is the reason� has circling bass that is warped and intriguing and will own any club, while the drums drive on and trippy keys are skewed and twisted up top. it�s a truly intense record for late in the night that is sure to become a big tune. this is an expressive and varied ep full of contemporary and innovative detroit house and techno sounds and marks another step in the ataxia story.

every tune of the 12- is deeply inspired by the origins of the mid 90s melodic jungle & d n b movement, namely by the greats of that era: peshay, source direct, ltj bukem and photek. ray & karl have worked together on a number of projects over the last year, the most recent one being a split 12- on the other planet of lyon. while ray has been connected to the lo-fi house scene and acts like baltra, dj boring and dj seinfeld, karl has been more low-key, producing music that s relaxed and organic, mainly inspired by naature and the musical movement around frits wentink and max graef. for this release they worked closely together, decided to stray off their usual paths and combined their different styles to form a well-rounded record.

house heaven on 12-inch. a lofty description, but one that fits most excellent unlimited�s latest offering perfectly. in 1990, boy george and simon rogers (the fall) made a record called �generations of love� for george�s post-culture club project, jesus loves you. legendary nyc dj and producer bruce forest was one of several big names brought in to do a set of remixes, and the better days veteran got to work on several contrasting versions of the cut. the mixes heard here, done at london�s famed olympic studios, are slices of utter ecstasy for anyone who has a taste for �90s deep house euphoria and ambient dancefloor excursions, but were unfortunately lost amongst the countless alternate mixes. suffice to say, meu is taking matters into our own hands and has remastered and properly packaged these tracks, directly sourced from forest himself, with the full intention to give this erstwhile dollar-record the respect it deserves. the jazz mix opens with a winding piano solo by andy whitmore (spandau ballet, terence trent d�arby, soul ii soul) that lures the listener into a hypnotic groove that could quite comfortably go on forever but here is constrained by our modesty and the 12-inch format. (a tip for the adventurous dj: flipped to 33rpm the tune becomes an epic balearic chugger, a late-night psylocibic alternative for the heads.) the synth-heavy sounds of the ambient mix on the flip side harken back to the chill-out rooms of the �90s but twenty-some years later bring the best kind of vintage charm.

the b side is an amazing track from seawind that everybody who is into jazz funk or latin jazz with vocals will dig it. this version is different than the original, we kept only the more dancefloor friendly parts and we extended the beginning and end of the track with only drum rhythmic reprogrammed for mixing easily in your sets with other tunes. please enjoy as much as we do because we love those edits, we love those tunes, we love music we are very happy with this release because its really really good!

portuguese artist ka§par gives parisian label escapade its third release. the four tracks span across a wide range of electronic sounds, telling a story that calls on many emotions. �wail of a loon opens the record with an experimental atmosphere. after this laid back introduction, ka§par goes into a much stronger style: �riggeds energy and catchy, twirling melody make it a total banger. on the b side, the mood gets much warmer and groovy. �vital is the perfect tune to warm up a dancefloor, thanks to a swinging rhythm, mesmerizing vocal samples and funky synth lines. �alma douro rounds up the record with strong jazzy vibes. beautiful chords and piano solos never dissapoint!

recorded while gerald was in jamaica working on a project with lee perry in 1980. the master tapes of the four tracks that were recorded at the harry j sessions were only recently discovered. utopia was the only track that had been given a final mix back in the day. it was released on 7- on the black star liner later in the year and then reissued on partial records in 2014. the other tracks were never mixed until early 2017 when this task was undertaken by dougie wardrop. as well as mixing jerusalem (gerald did a later version of this tune for rej forte s jah works label in the early 1990s), working for the dollar and constant spring , it was decided that utopia should also enjoy a fresh mix.

second release of fufu records: mexican house producer sakro, brings 2 tracks with the new alias skr. on the other side, frank spirit provides two tracks which represent the core of their studio flow. starting off with an inspirational jazz tune and slicing it down to a contemporary loop.

fausto messina is a veteran dj and producer from treviso, a small town on the plain between the gulf of venice and the alps. fausto has been releasing music for more than 10 years and pica pica is his debut e.p. on cadenza. in the track named pica pica a recurrent evocative voluminous chord is convoyed by a classy powerful kick drum and an organic symphony of fluffy percussions and metallic bonks, with a triumphant layer of dense whistles and shimmering cymbals. the extremely intense vibrant rhythms of idiophono contrast with the gentle reverberating harmonies of an ensemble of struck idiophones, angelically flowing in the background of the track. the smooth magnetic flux of planets ballet concludes the e.p. with high style. this jacky stride over a stack of steamy synthesisers and bubbly bleeps is a golden tune for a quivering late-night dance-floor.

mother recordings barely let a month go by without serving up some new club ready heat. and so it is that they serve up another two track sizzler, this time from phil fuldner. the german has been making beats since the late nineties on labels like get physical, stereo, kitball or snatch! and as such he has a fresh house sound that is honed to perfection.up first here, stashbox is another driving house cut with more vocals stitched into the arrangement. here the percussion is loose, the bass is driving and the whole thing feels clean and modern. floor. on the flip, start me up is a party starting tune with big stabs and cool vocals. the beats are lively and inviting and the whole thing will get your hips swinging thanks to some infectious claps.once again then this is an ep that is sure to detonate any dance floor.

this has always been a rare 12inch originally only released in the uk in 1979, phoenix was considered to be too disco at the time and the release pretty much sank without trace - one reason why finding those original uk 12inches is near on impossible these days. just 2 copies on discogs and a mint one will be circa £50 if you re ever lucky enough to find one. however, since 1979 phoenix has grown in stature and what was once considered to be a twee disco tune has now become a huge collector s item and a staple in the right clubs. no surprise really as this is norman connors at the top of his game and the production is red-hot. how phoenix never made it to 12inch vinyl in the u.s. is one of the great mysteries of life but here it is on beautiful fresh 12inch vinyl some 38 years later. as with all our 12inch re-issues we ve replicated the original label. luckily there are no bootlegs to contend with on this release, so this is the first re-issue of this song since the original release date, so order with confidence

prolific producer mathis mootz is very well known within the drum/bass and hardcore techno arenas as being one of the innovative pioneers to merge both genres with an unique approach. his contribution to the electronic music community is not limited to his explorations within only the drum and bass and hardcore genres, mathis also has various experimental projects, most noteworthy being his m2 ( squaremeter ) project with releases on mille pleateux, ant-zen and hands productions. the sound of m2 is defined as a combination of micro sound and industrial soundscapes. the panacea is no stranger to the world of techno as some may suspect, his command of the position chrome record label came from his close relationship with force inc. music works which was one of the earliest german record labels to fuel the underground techno/rave scenes in the early 90�s. since position chrome came under his guidance in 1997 it has become one of the most important labels in electronic music due to it�s integrity and an impressive release of quality music for it�s genre. more recently, he has been investigating the techno landscape with david frisch together known as new frames, their latest release on hands productions is essential for those interested in contemporary electronic music of the dark techno/industrial kind. � above the absolute � is a 12�� of mercenary techno produced with expert skill. the opening track � above the absolute 96 � is pure sound wave balance with all the components for what is sure to light any dance floor on fire. � most basic resolution � is a dark, mood shifting, hard acid techno reminder of what it means to create music for warehouses, pure old school for the hardcore. � overdrive ee � continues in a more contemporary direction and demonstrates a mastery of percussive elements in tune with the kind of atmosphere that brings people together in the dark. the final track � walter � goes back into the future with a track aimed at the headstrong, an exceptional closing chapter that hits dead centre on the search of the perfect beat. an overall completely impressive work from an artist who has set no limitations for himself.

2018 repress - bicep return to their feel my bicep records with 4 original tracks. 2 on each side of a 12 inch heavyweight slab, with the logo debossed on the sleeve. first up is a lyk lyk, a playful festival tune giving a nod to early rave sounds, and breaks. this is followed with poly pineapple which leans on the belfast boys love of fuzzy italo disco and techno.

estetika 001 introduces the first release of the new imprint of jason patrick and pat king. the label s objective is to release a signature style of timeless techno. berlin-based artist mekas (originally from buenos aires) delivers the first 3 track record, nodata. a1 starts off the release with lebreton featuring qik. thick kick and bass anchor a beautifully warm hypnotic synth riff that filters meticulously throughout the track working hand in hand with a subtle atmospheric pad and spacious reverb touches to create a uniquely huge engulfing sound. b1 is the second track titled marshfield, a heavy tune for peak time. its kick, toms, and bassline form a rugged groove for its dark synth, which along with the mysterious pad capture the essence of the track while ride cymbals glisten and automate throughout. b2 is the third and final track, nothing, which continues the dark and mysterious vibe of the release. an acidy mid-range synth part works along with an ominous pad and well programmed hi-hats, claps, and rides with just the right reverb treatment to provide space and depth to the track.

slam city jams are back with their first compilation. a 4-tracker packed up with five amazing artists from all over the globe. and lets face it: its a breaky affair! starting off with our munich homeboys from coeo. known for their funked up house tunes on toy tonics, they start into complete new realms this time. �never going home� is the perfect example of a dope broken beat electro tune, that with its weird synth line & smooth breakdown never failed on a gig in the last months. on a2 the man doppelate from london (lets go swimming rec.) exactly hits the spot with mezmerizing synths, tight drum programming and a crunchy acid bassline on �four feet up the stairs�. the flip side starts off with label head honchos rhode & brown, who teamed up with their buddy leo woelfel from austria, both known for releases on toy tonics, public possession or lets play house. here the name �more drama (less hysteria) says it all: pure drama on this breaky acid tune! to round up this great package weve got marco lazovic from moscow on b2. he digs deep �in the jungle with rolling 707 drums, dreamy synths and this tropical atmosphere we cant get enough of.

now the new ep takes the whole adventure even a step further and features two vocal songs featuring julie runa from copenhagen based band roxy jules: µeighty fourã is a killer krautrock / post punk tune with intermittent screaming synths, while µplaying in the nightã is a more darkwave-meets-surf rock via a laboratory of electronics and noisy guitar layers - thrilling stuff.

untilmyheartstops makes a welcome return to the fray with this sublime four-tracker from emergent swedish producer martinou, previously found sneaking around the sewer sender label. as is customary with umhs releases, the conventions of house and techno are masked by a veil of mystery, where billowing pads and crooked rhythms dig past common or garden variety club tracks to offer something more sublime. from the slender, shimmering unaware to the weighty thrum of excessive, surely and on to the delicately poised i dont wanna wanna feel, martinou proves himself to be entirely in tune with the hidden depths of the label

get pissed is a french duo known in paris for their popular -wrecka spinazz club- and -belleville boogie- parties that included daniele baldelli, margie, boris from ostgut etc on the bills. they are signing here singular ruff mpc tracks for their debut ep that has an uncommon signature between jazz, techno and deep beatdown. laroye on flipside has been already in the broken beat game for a decade at least. you might remember his three eps on faces records including some kinetic space jazz remix from inverse cinematics better known today as mcde. the french producer now based in brighton delivers something special again, journeying through disco, jazz and those west london signature beats. mgbk001 is an ep of two halves. the a-side bumps with two very deep house jams, whilst the b-side sees a freestyle disco-jazz we call broken beats. music for the mind, body and universal soul!
