the original mix of >slow burn< is a lush slice of ambient techno that immediately sucks you into its subby atmospheric realm and gently lulls you into a netherworld where chords and pads playfully bounceoff one another. the neverending bass arpeggio beneath will gently wobble you into submission.

parts i & ii of friday 14th were previously released on french label astrolab but these two new versions evolved through playing the track in our live set. while in la last year, we were asked to go into the studio and record something... this is what came from that session. also on the release is a great dubby-proto-house remix from roots unit, and most excellent it is too.

that juan maclean is just a bundle of contradictions. here he has created one of the years best mix cds — and not just a proper party mix, which it certainly is, but even what you might call an important mix, a timely lesson in the enduring spirit of house music — and how does he choose to describe the process of putting it together? as an >existential tailspin<.

royal oak with futuristic house sounds from one of hollands longest running house producers gerd. some gorgeous warm rhodes driven tracks with interstellar melodies. two tracks that sound like a stream of fresh air. friendly fire has an incredible drive with its warm rhodes chords and a deep sub bass. unique track that gives the traditional house ingredients a twist. vibration on the flip (which is actually a studio jam with the friendly fire parts) goes in a slightly slower house pace and is combines bleepy melodies with a deep powerful drive that reveals its nature once played out loud.

incl. till von sein & aera paradise dub i guess this is what it comes down to being a musician: fire up a microphone, gimme a rhodes, a bass and some drums and lets start jammin! – thats the attitude! thats exactly what chopstick & johnjon together with label mate and partner in crime fritz kalkbrenner did for this lovely earthy release >keep on keepin on<, not to mention that they downed 3 bottles of vodka and bottles of vine during the session! chopstick & johnjon recorded a live acoustic bass a few weeks back, and still under the influence of the hip hop phenomenon, they decided to keep every single sound dirty and real. breaking out of the ordinary and the usual steps of making house music, the 3 musicians recorded almost every single sound in that song..
jamie jones and lee foss much admired hot natured production project expands into a new label series of original material - hot creations – whose debut release from the wunderkind jamie jones is the simply stupendous >ruckus< ep.
2nd single cut from kuniyuki new album >walking in the naked city< (mule musiq cd 13). this kuniyukis 12inch version of night forest is more playful and mixable than original version of album. this kind of musical deep house sound is a rare on these days. our favorite african artist mr raoul k made the interesting trippy afro taste minimal house remix.
