niko was born and raised in seattle, washington. half japanese, spanish, norwiegen, german and philipino, her parent’s record collection was as rich as their heritage and from a very young age she was obsessed with music, spending hours at the piano every day, singing in a gospel choir and staging musical theatre perfomances in her backyard. by the age of 16 she was singing at prestigious jazz festivals across america with her prize-winning high school band.

here we go with the next release on frank mullers mad musician from the techno headquarter berlin. some might know this track from franks live performance as beroshima. ken ishii heard this track in japan and offered to do a remix. we dont have to explain ken ishii and his nice releases. he has been on the scene for almost two decades and has influenced the japanese techno scene like no other. two other mixes are done by frank muller himself. his alter ego beroshima mix is is pure techno spirit and simply rocks the shit out of your lazy bones. brand new and good for you!

in definition of japanese deep electronic music, pan records yet again compiled the various artist ep with full of surprises. as opposed to previous releases, ambient is the word to describe this forthcoming ep, not forgetting its deepness lies within. sven weisemann from berlin is making his debut to pan, showing much love for the label. dynamic and elaborative wave of sounds, together makes continuous teasing build up throughout. he will be only the second non-japanese artist to be appeared on this label.

we first heard about these amazing remixes last year and have finally tracked down the japanese only 12 on which they were released. we have managed to secure literally a couple of boxes - so first come first served!

after quite some time now, and after super successful kinks debut, weve got burek number two. this time, burek is excited to present a young japanese musician takaaki shibuya humandrone. takaaki says hes obsessed with hardware and old school sounds, citing blake baxter, mantronix and carl craig as his main influences stating he finds his own music to sound like science-fictional street music, and on his first edition on burek we have a treat of four stylistically different house tracks common in their characteristic acid sound from which he draws his inspiration. stay raw with us and dance!

loftsoul is the moniker of renowned dj uchikawa masahiko. he has been a dj for more than 25 years, and is deeply involved with the japanese nightclub scene since its early days. his borderless and genre-straddling playing style, from soul, jazz, dance classics, deep house, to techno tells of the impassioned music life of dj uchikawa masahiko. in addition to running regular parties at his club loft in nagano, (which has hosted djs such as joe claussell, jerome sydenham and glenn underground) and premier at loop, uchikawa has been recording tracks as loftsoul, and collaborating with pianist makoto kuriya as rhythm of elements. >soul inspiration< sees loftsouls continued collaboration with chicago house stalwart glenn underground alongside ricardo miranda aka the latin soul brothas. >soul inspiration< is a deliciously deep groove with trademark virtuoso piano for some esoteric soulful dance floor action. the b-side sees the latin soul brothas slow it down for them electronic soul of the moog mix. finally, dj uchikawa and hide koyama provide an essential dub.

our second vinyl release 2012 introduces a new series, the bias jams, on ilian tape. we start off with a compilation of 4 tracks from japan, serbia, argentina and italy. after some internal investigations we found out that imugem orihasam is not only a japanese shaolin, but also a yoga guru. his bias cut sounds like an instruction for a deep meditation in a forest. we chose a forest, because forests need to be saved. too many black puffs of vapour are killing them at the moment. our late riser regen probably didnt had that a mind, but we declare him to be an environmental activist from now on. now how should we include paper tape in this story … had a look online and found the term perforated paper tape. pretty interesting stuff, it was one of the first methods for data storage. ok are you guys joking? orbital? there is no way to write a good story with those track names. >an atomic orbital is a mathematical function that describes the wave-like behavior of either one electron or a pair of electrons in an atom<. yeah right! well in fact its enough to know that the bias jams series will feature some heavy bomboclaat bias cuts from various artists! cheers

huge remix action of two previous releases on the very excellent japanese life on recordings run by tearz. here we have his two original tracks islero and miura remixed by stephane signore, s.p.t, tim baker and stereo jack all in a floor-filling club techno style but each putting their own individual stamp on the track.

straight japanese killer techno !!! tight, mechanical and brutal with an underlying funk, snow monkeys is the sort of multi-faceted beast that kobayashi is known for. the rough edges are allowerd full space to create tension but the track is tempered with some brilliant, shimmering and evocative melodies that slide into the mix for just the right amount of time before subsiding into the churning groove. one of the new school of japanese techno producer, a.mochi delivers a well pitched, moody version on the flip. pacey yet measured in its progression its a version that takes the originals tension to new levels and wont be a surprise for anyone who has heard his productions / remixes for the likes of figure, cocoon and a-wave. hideo kobayashi is one of the few producers who can skip from deep or vocal house though to searing techno with ease and snow monkeys is a perfect example of what he can do when it comes ot the tougher sounds

following the stunning album that (finally) surfaced on tirk records last year, seventeen-piece live disco band escort arrive on sister label nang via red music by popular demand with two of the most prevalent cuts from the album, cameleon chameleon & starlight, remixed by anglo-japanese powerhouse max essa, and red records label boss and ilija rudman. ilijas cut of cameleon chameleon is as funky as they come, enveloping strains of the originalin his silken synth work and driving dance-floor percussion. edits of adeline micheles vocal hook are teased in throughout, beautifully done but never deriving from the fact that this is strict dancefloor stuff. next up, max essa delivers a stomping rendition of long time favourite, starlight. his cut stays true to the original, retaining vibe, funk and feeling, but giving it that subtle injection of house that is just made for peak time at the dance. if you like your disco live, the escort collective has a couple of uk dates penned in for march / april 2012, so keep em peeled!

house music from all corners of the world on this south american label. ojodeapolo comes with an excellent various artist release. featuring japanese artist kai a.k.a kaitaro-nakajima, chicago skyway, canadas basic soul unit and south amreican label head jorge c. the record opens with his trash fantasy, a fine grooving house track accompanied by a remix by chicago skyway. b side comes with kais elegant stromthat gets a remix by basic soul unit who spiced it up a bit. a cool versatile house release!

long waited 4th ep from japanese deep house force pan records is here. unlike precious releases, this is volume 1 of its various artist sampler series. all 3 of them are scheduled to be released in 2012. first track to open the series is >flash back< by sai. this japanese producer has been favored and debuted from morris audio in 2010. the track has dreamy and floating feel to start off with, later it gets more grove going with subtle vocal goes behind. stays musical yet feels minimal, a2 also kept the vibe from a1 and makes you stay in the dreamland. it is by only the non-japanese artist on this wax, dennis uprock aka resoe from denmark. he is the owner of baum records and one half of the duo >pattern repeat< and this rather timeless track exactly demonstrated his years of experience in producing. >future progress<, is true and honest to its name. dj pi-ge is one of the owner of the label along side of ryo murakami and sisi. he provides a track with punchy synth and revered black man’s vocal. notably slow teasing build up from the beginning till the end, this is an interesting addition to the ep. attention grabbing. last of all, >rising moon< is by tokyo based artist naoki shinohara, previously released from xdbs metrolux music. this track can be described by strong hart beat like hi hats and soul filling melody. its a perfect closer to this quality deep house ep from the land of rising sun.

for the first time on this planet dial owner lawrence shows up on an excursion to his beloved pampa imprint. the double feature >kurama” presents two deepy enchanting anthems, a timeless vision of love. after touring around the globe with his new label mate dj koze since ages, having the most successful release in dial history with kosis efdemin remix, sharing music with each other like crackbrained, it is not a big surprise for lawrence to occur with two of his best pieces on pampa records. well known for his releases on mule electronic, ghostly international, styrax and his own imprints smallville, dial and laid, it was his first mix cd on cocoon >timeless< which made lawrence put some cats among the pigeons. with the new pampa again he has proved that the holy temple of deepness has to invite some flawy hypnotists once in a while to get clouded and shaken. the number 09 is dedicated to two most famous experiences in japan: the kurama mountain in kyoto, one of the most amazing places on earth, and oolong high, one of the most amazing drinks on earth- cold oolong tea on the rocks with a zip of japanese shochu liquor. after koze and lawrence had another few of these beverages again they started dreaming of this wonderful release

following the debut lp on ki, we have put together a few of our favorite artists to remix some tracks of their choice. it was important for us, that the artists kept their individual approach to their genre, so that we could get a very diverse release. first up is the japanese producer stereociti, who just released his debut album on mojuba records. he gives the title track >reisegefaehrte< his very own deep touch. second up is our close friend glitterbug, who seems to create a very own genre with his interpretation of >barracuda<. on the flipside stundman goes straight to the dancefloor. jacking beats and pounding basslines are his >reminder<. and as if p.laoss knew what the real deal is, he turned >subsistence< into a fata morgana trip back to the time when dub was really dub. perfect completion of what we expected from this remix ep.
