samuel l. session, a techno producer from sweden who founded the labels sls and cycle and now runs the klap klap imprint. apart from that, he has released on drumcode, soma, music man and kms records. in 2007, samuel l session was featured on kms 091 - kevin saunderson’s release – “history elevate 2” with a remix for “pump the move”. now in 2015, samuel l session presents his second artist release on kms records with “the talkbox ep” the talk box ep kicks of with an “original mix” that is a dark, deep & groovy. detroit inspired techno pumper that features a deep bass line with haunting chords. move on next to the “concrete mix” which provides a bit more airy feel. on the b side the soulful groove b1 “birth of blue” featuring elbee bad providing whispering melodic vocal sprinkled on top an ever moving progression that even includes some great horn stabs. rounding out the ep is the b2 “birth of blue” featuring elbee bad & andreas saag, providing a groovy solo-esc piano, riffing throughout this already groovy number

fresh from stealing the show last year with his daft punk collaborations, the guitar wizard nile rodgers has teamed up with cr2 records once again to create the do what you want to do (ims anthem).

the km editions series, admirably helmed by the mysterious keyboard masher, has always been one of the more interesting re-edit/rework labels. past installments have touched on krautrock, disco, balearica, funk, italo and what can only be described as electronic oddities. this sixth volume offers up three more impressively remixed, overdubbed and reedited gems. theres naturally much to admire, not least the omd style woozy synth-pop of stolen shapes (stealing rework), which should tickle the fancy of anyone of a balearic disposition. the same can be said about the immersive, sun-kissed pianos and shuffling grooves of -astral playground. there s also a chunk of silly but, perversely, rather good french cod-reggae in the shape of le cod-, arguably our pick of a strong bunch.

radio bands radio rap the one and only single by a group of djs from the radio fantasy pirate station has long been an in-demand gem with italo-disco diggers and balearic heads alike. with original copies both hard to find and expensive (currently hovering around the l60 mark online), it s great to see archeo recordings giving the 1984 cut a much-needed reissue on heavyweight vinyl. the quirky vocal version a loose and funky disco-rap record with additional boogie synths and all italian vocals is accompanied by the superb instrumental version, which perfectly showcases danilo ciarchi s superb production.

ian pooley initiates his new techno label montage by resurrecting his silvershower alias. best known for a pair of 12inchs released on richie hawtins plus 8 in 1996 (with a further ep released on the same label in 2011), silvershower has been pooleys preferred alias for his tougher, darker records for nearly 20 years.

albert van abbe has truly gained momentum this year with his new self-titled label vanabbe, a successful berghain live debut as well as releases on shipwrec and now trolldans. and you can tell! this trolldans release is filled with confidence and lucidity. the term ostinato refers to a continuously repeated musical pattern. its usually used in reference to classical music, but is well suited here. this ostinato, this stubbornness, gives the music a sense of pace and propulsion.

we are honoured to present the milan-based duo carol consisting of damian and fedex. fedex has been collecting records and dj-ing since the age of 15 when the italian club and rave scene was about to explode. after many years of dj-ing and producing music in italy and germany he found his home in milan by joining the cockette party crew where he expressed his musical versatility and love for dancefloor shaking. damian started out in londons late 90s electroclash scene with the cult electro band damian and the puzzy france and later on approached techno and house as a promoter and dj.

in about 2003 i did some work for deepfunk and northern soul legend keb darge and as was the way back then i received payment in vinyl. included in the pile was this little detroit number which i instantly fell in love with. in 1980 david mcmurray and adell shavers and david mcmurray (who went on to be a member of 80s hit band was not was) wrote and produced this amazing detroit modern / boogie 45 which for some reason suffered the same fate of many of aotn releases and disappeared from history. but thanks to the generation of collectors before me this gem sat safely in northern collection such as kebs for years waiting for its day in the sun. it only got limited play but recently the record has had a resurgence in popularity and value which it deserves. after a tip off from jason stirland (soulstax records) i found david mcmurray and it was wonderful to find he was keen to help me bring this wonderful 45 back into the limelight. so here we are…

abyssopelagic is the third release on tresor berlin resident marcel heeses label finitude music. this time he teamed up with d_func. aka legendary berlin producer alexander kowalski who has been around for almost 20 years and surely needs no further introduction. the title track is a slow piece of nautical techno aiming at the bigger floors. as the title suggests the b-side includes a stripped-down version of abyssopelagic for the deeper moments on the floor

ben sims presents the final (but first!) in his long-running theory series. over the years theory has presented us with some of the most essential house & techno releases on offer. sims unleashes four forward forward-thinking techno cuts for 050.1, headed up by a smoking remix from the bold marcel dettmann.

elif is well-known through her collaborations with several ostgut ton artists. her voice is outstanding and you can hear her passion for music in every single syllable. marc miroir has just celebrated the anniversary of 10 years pasomusic in september 2014 and let me go now is another milestone in the label s history. let me go combines marc s sure hand for highly unique yet functional club music with elif s astounding voice. let me go comes in two versions and you can be sure that it will burn down every dance oor around the world. the songs are co-produced by evamore s ronald christoph.

christopher scott leary aka ochre is someone who has established himself via his own means, namely his own bandcamp page, as well as on labels like baselogic, toytronic, with a stunning lp in 2004, benbecula. as such, dutch label shipwrec have snapped him up for a fantastic new ep that showcases his style, which touches on ambient and downtempo as well as lushly melodic electronica, in all its glory.

informa experiments volume 2 continues with the same concept as the last, 4 artists submit a bank of sounds and from these sounds each artist composes a track. a simple idea that proves very effective. this time the contributors are claudio prc (prologue), takaaki itoh (wols), ben gibson (chronicle) & deepbass (informa) each version has come out very different but all have a beautifully analogous feel. deep, pulsing hypnotic techno. the release will be available on 12 inch only.

for a brief moment turin was italys sheffield, producing an astonishing number of diy electronic groups. in the context of a wider europe, italy has never been thought of as a hotbed of minimal electronic music, but mannequin records compilations danza meccanica: italian synth wave 1982-1987 have shone a light on a scene little heard, even within italys borders. but the history was still incomplete ... some new horizons now must be unveiled, showing that between the years of 1982 and 1984, the city of turin in northwest italy was home to a quiet underground renaissance of experimental electronic music.

new jerseys mythical zanzibar club has long been a source of wonderment for dance music fans around the world. the newark institution has been connected to some of the biggest producers and djs in the world of dance music: blaze, tony humphries, kerri chandler, tee scott and many more! step up jovonn aka ly with this most classic piece of late night nj house/garage from 1994 - back to zanzibar, a love letter to the club and dance-floor that no doubt had a massive influence on him and countless others during its existence

the third 12 inch sampler taken from lukes unfinished business compilation series, this time featuring a lost dub of the nails classic hurt u featured as part of the kittens single back in the year 2000. nail is enjoying a fantastic and deserved renaissance at the moment and will felt it was high time let this baby loose. this is followed by another lost gem from the wonderful tak label. the last unfinished business compilation featured the timedwellers and now it’s time for collis king, look out for some unreleased gems to be featured on an ep from classic later this year. number 3 is the tripped out vocal classic from sandee - given some modern day remastering business a record that has proven to be totally timeless - and a stalwart at luke and kenny hawkes legendary space nights at bar rumba. and finally - lukes very own stop the riot - the first single he recorded with sam lynham from gramme championed by the likes of skream on radio one and nemone on 6 music - we felt the single deserved its very own place on vinyl.

coming direct out of nürnberg in germany, tabla records has already set a fine house and techno agenda with its first three releases, and now comes a great new package from dilated pupils.

a truly essential piece of early detroit techno history here, octave ones original white label octivation ep from 1990 has long been a sought after and coveted slab of wax. this 5 track journey charts the burden brothers mood from sinister, spacey, acidic techno jams (sonic fusion) to deeper, more melancholic mid-tempo cuts (nicolette) and along the way manages to usher in a new wave of detroit techno sounds.

constellation andromeda is the new release on modularz featuring spanish artist and mental disorder owner reeko who is also a member of the pole group family whos work has spanned over a decade. reekos debut ep on modularz gives a nice variation of deep and hypnotic textures and grooves that make this a choice example of where the producer is headed.

sub concious was originally conceived as the exclusive track for erol alkans fabriclive 77 mix, which was released to major critical acclaim back in august. a highlight track within the mix, sub conscious has now been remixed by tin man and new phantasy signing kamera.

carl craig needs no introduction, he has been at the forefront of the international techno scene for over 20 years and has amassed a truly enviable back catalog of releases utilizing various pseudonyms and collaborating with many different artists during his stellar career. one of the detroit natives most enduring and popular guises has been his paperclip people project which has been active since 1991. country boy goes dub was originally released in 1996 on the seminal paperclip people long-player the secret tapes of dr.eich. its blend of samples, metallic drum machines, 808s, guitar loops and serious dubwise tendencies made it stand out instantly. as with a lot of craigs legendary productions it had that otherworldly swing, an incessant groove and a melding of various styles, sounds and influences informing its spirit.

luigi madonnas production talents are glistening with releases on well-known labels such as drumcode, octopus, analytictrail, sleaze, suara and more. he has featured on the infamous drumcode radio podcast and is supported by some of the largest techno djs in the world including adam beyer, richie hawtin and many others. last year saw luigis primo smash its way through the charts to become number one in the techno chart and both luigi and drumcode believe this success will continue with background

rob glassett aka fold has been playing his trade of quality house music for over 10 years now. with a seemingly bottomless record bag, his varied and soulful sets at panorama bar and on nts have seen him gain increasing recognition. his return to manmakemusic sums up what hes been perfecting over these last years: timeless house music. from the disco echoes of mr w00d to the dubbed-out thump of keif chugwin, this is one versatile ep which were proud to have on the imprint.
