limited repress! amazing micro and minimalistic house jazz album. be fast on this one. a full-length album by ohm hourani that travels long the didactic path of modular synthesizers and drum machines, while in the company of carefully hand-picked musicians and vocalists. this seven-track lp delves into the unpredictability of two musical worlds: electronic and jazz. beginning with the intricate composition of the cheerful >oasis in heaven< and moving on to discover the mysteries hidden in >the bicycle tour<, the first record twists and turns into the challenging narrative of >bahe<, before saying its final few words of goodbye to >abusamir.< on the second record, >coucou< sits to script the love of life or the love of a lifetime. >happy mutek< fortifies energy new and old and escorts us to moments of alleviation. the eponymous >jazz of the machine< is the flag-bearer and ultimate demonstration of the bond between air and its reliance on the electricity of soul and souls. encasing this double record is a sleeve that features a luscious illustration by laucolo entitled >batikha.<

coloured vinyl - already a well-established presence on the outlandish fringes of experimental, alternative and dance music, celebrated israeli duo red axes make a surprise left-turn onto phantasy with a three-track 12inch, sipoor. unsurprisingly, the results are as pleasingly out-there as the occasion requires. following on from last year’s self-released lp, the beach goths, sipoor immediately announces the axes’ uncompromising return to the front and centre of the dancefloor with the raw, provocative bad time story. brazen, brash acid triggers this particular tale, as red axes briskly modulate their way through a ruff, tuff but never less than musical landscape of 303s and 808s. sipoor takes a more gradual approach to building offbeat rave tension, featuring an unknown male using his native tongue to request some kind of house, some kind of techno and some sort of release. his wish (and we hope, yours) is the axes command, as the music goes deep before seamlessly unfolds around a throbbing bassline and a playful, familiar keyboard sample, beckoning feet to the dancefloor and perhaps tongues ever so slightly to cheeks. concluding the 12inch, teroof takes each of red axes signature ingredients - deeply rhythmic ebm-inspired drums, spiralling electronics, unapologetically odd vocal distortions and reconstructs them amid what sounds like the monaco grand prix, as high-velocity motors speed past the soundscape, kicking up some serious dust.

>another psychedelic afternoon< lunges in with minimalistic percussion, acidic bass lines and radio voices. the progression of the track keeps one moving while the fluctuation in the velocity and warmth of the sound keeps the explorative side of the acoustics and rhythm flowing. >performer< switches the mood into a darker tone with rolling waves of industrial synths creating a contrasting groove between high speed lighter synths and heavier drum and bass rolls before the second part of the track reshapes the track into more minimalistic and aggressive dance floor weapon.

2021 repress! the third time is the charme...that’s right. thus, the joy about the third album by marek hemmann is huge. likewise, the third album is perceived as an important brand which ought to show the actual extent of a musician’s potential. either hold one’s ground or dare something new? marek hemmann is not deterred by such expectations. he was merely in the mood for new tracks. the eight newcomers on “moments” sound accordingly - easygoing, detached and characterised by the same profoundly and harmonically balanced musicality for which marek hemmann is world-renowned. anyhow, a “just continue as before” mentality is not an option for the berliner by choice - from the beginning, his music effort- lessly blurred the established genre lines. in this vein, his new work is influenced by a great candour. as already accomplished with his highly esteemed albums “in between”and “bittersweet”, in “moments” marek hem- man takes the listeners - and certainly the dancers - on a journey through different spheres of contemporary electronic music.
