french producers dj deep and traumer pair up for their debut on radio slave’s rekids. a key component in parisian techno since the ‘90s, dj deep’s influence is indisputable whether it’s helming deeply rooted house records, launching his own rotary dj mixer series or his numerous appearances on tresor records alongside gettraum founder roman poncet, who appears on this release as traumer. ‘la valle la b’ comes in three forms. the ‘la deep mix’ is an echoing number complete with rhythmic percussion and rumbling bass, whilst ‘la slave mix’ is a glitchier alternative featuring various subtle nuances and otherworldly atmospherics. finally ‘la spicy mix’ concludes the package with a focus on piercing synths and a compelling groove.

hot off a couple of 12” from topher horn, rocksteady disco follows up with its first compilation featuring a heap of heavily sampled originals from more well-known editors. pontchartrain leads the release off with a summer-inspired aural prozac number, just in time for this june release. next up is notorious detroit editor lafleur, busting out this original milky-smooth detroit boogie house production. a slight little rearrangement from rocksteady disco label boss peter croce makes this one a bit smoother for the djs. lyon, france’s g2s kicks off the flip with a big-bottomed stomper reminiscent of some mcde ‘raw cuts’. pontchartrain book-ends this release with a track that puts the ‘rocksteady’ in rocksteady disco, with heavy analog-meets-electro drum programming and complete with pontchartrain on vocoder duties. hand numbered edition of 500 copies with dl code.

british art-rock band no-man (tim bownes & stewen wilson w mick karn, richard barbieri, steve jansen, ben coleman) recorded heaven taste in the studio sessions in summer 1992. it got first released as a complete 21 mins version on painting paradise ep on one little indian (1993). the track drew attention in the rising ambient techno scene and got played by djs like mixmaster morris. the track fuses ambient techno with art rock and features a distinctive fretless bass solo by mick karn. this super sound 45rpm 12- features a steven wilson edited 11.21 mins version of the original and on b-side jimi tenor s rearrange with some solos with flute and keyboard. file under: ambient techno

next in line to work with underground imprint getme! is uk artist nicky otter, with gme012: i can t really explain (it), a two track release out on 14th march across vinyl and digital platforms. across the ep, nicky ventures between parameters of ambient electronica and big, bad club tracks. nickys outsider sound find its perfect home on london s getme! label, both artist and label undefinable by genre, shape or sound. a-side i can t really explain (it) is a straight call for the dance floor for those after sounds on a more house and garage tip. originally trained as a drummer, nickys percussive talent shines across this bassy number, complete with creeping melody and layered vocal samples for a track nodding to club edits from a nostalgic time gone by. moving into murkier territories, b-side sketch original slow is journey through the darker strains of electronica, hazy techno feels and euphoric ambient vibes. dreamy melodies and carefully mapped out drum patterns meet here, giving sketch original slow an other-worldly feel.

with our regular 12” series both coming to end some people thought that wph would end as well. you should’ve known better, because there is too much gorgeous music coming from our small wph family to just let other labels shine with it. and so we have decided to throw caution into the wind and embark on a new story. a story in which our artists get to tell their story by means of a full album. at the heart of metrobox’ sound is a love for moog, 909 and sh 101 sounds, combined with a knack for seductive melodies and a healthy dose of vocal action. two collaborations with wph head honcho red d and belgian mc champ tlp add some extra oldskool flavor to the proceedings. and yes, we are well aware of the fact that double or triple albums are heavy on your budget and that you all prefer to shell out 15 euro for a one-sided limited detroit release instead of a 12” with three tracks you like ... so this album will come in three separately available 12”s, giving you complete buyer freedom.
