we were very happy to be asked by connaisseur recordings if they could put out another album with our music! now it s all come together and they ve asked us to do our own press release for it and quite like the album, we want to do it in our own way, personal and from the heart. it s been a few years since our last connaisseur album, and a lot has happened since. we ve built a new studio, matured musically, acquired new gear, sold old gear, done a lot of gigs, lost faith in music and regained it again. the process of making the loneliest man in space (this album) was a genuinely pleasant experience, as we never really set out to make an album at all. we didn t conceptualize or have any grandiose plans, we simply enjoyed ourselves in the studio. inspiration was running high, so we focused on making a lot of music uninterrupted, rather than signing tracks, which left us with quite a bulk of unsigned material. the idea to release these tracks as an album came from our friend alex, at connaisseur. we instantly jumped on the idea, listened through the material, taking some tracks out and composing a few new ones, to make it sit more together as a whole. we tried to come up with a title that would ft the feeling of the sum of tracks and settled on the loneliest man in space. as the album, to our ears, sounds a little melancholic and a little spacey. we sincerely hope that you enjoy the album either as a listening experience, a dance experience or something in between!

incredible repress of rick wilhites 2004 ep on chicagos still music imprint. pure detroit beatdown house music, featuring some stellar remix and production work from the legendary delano smith too! city bar reopen live dancing is the opening track, a down-low, funk drenched late night mover that s full of soul with killer vocals from the amazingly monikered billy beemer aka bill beaver. this one s a cult track, underground house music for dancers! 2 mixes of magic water also appear on this essential 12inch, a collabo between rick and delano which is all that needs to be said really! as you can imagine this one is deep a subdued groove that slowly blooms and unfolds until you re totally locked in and it s too late! all in all, a timely reissue of a mid 2000s classic 12inch overflowing with rick wilhites unique style and flow, one of detroit’s most unsung heroes.

there is a couple downstairs they don’t specially like each other and nothing matches between them, but they are together everyday and they said things could be worst. they have two large boxes with one hole hiding their faces so they just see what they want to see. they select what is important to look at and stare at it for hours. sometime they may both look at the same thing but they don’t even know it. this is a small part of the soundtrack running in their boxes.

the label is gradually working through colin’s revered back catalogue of cassette only releases, with previous titles the scythe and two nights selling out instantly. his run of half of a dozen home recorded, diy / minimal synth cassettes between 1980 and 1982 is rightly granted legendary status, influencing a slew of home produced diy experimental electronic artists and all attaining high collectors prices online for original copies. so these lp sets filled out with all manner of unreleased cuts, demos and excluded tracks truly are a treat.

this opus was recorded in a room transformed into a studio, where countless hours of work happened on an old computer, with trips back and forth to the grocery to buy liters of soda. in between soundtrack, jazz-funk and house, the beginnings of this ep find their roots in the encounter between lucien and dj gregory (point g), spiritual guide, who pushed into an introspective work, where the feelings were ultimately revealed sincerely. this ep is also the meeting of 4 musicians whove known each other for a long time and, together, form lucien & the kimono orchestra.

picking up where they left off three years ago, modern heads, the much-respected collaboration between gianluca meloni and dino sabatini, are back with a dynamic and intriguing four track ep. the duo go straight in here with the club-ready athena. throughout this track, tight percussive elements wind in and around one another, creating an ever-changing rhythm that you can only just hold onto. under this, tense synths pulse away, producing an opaque and insular atmosphere. next up, eumaeus lightens the mood somewhat, providing clarity with a distinct opening drum pattern. this mood doesnt last long though, as indiscernible, haunting vocals begin to echo in the distance, gradually moving closer and further in the mix as sharp pads swoosh either side. side b of the record opens with the deepest and longest track of the ep, eurycleia. simple yet unrelenting drums frame this hypnotic sci-fi episode, through which otherworldly screeches and rumbles reverberate over the twinkling sounds of machines. eurycleias atmosphere continues straight into the final track, laertes theme. this beatless piece takes eurycleias exploratory mood and extrapolates it over five and a half minutes, resulting in what feels like the perfect soundtrack to a glacial expedition in alien territory. as an ep this is a complete and coherent package, a perfect extension to modern heads previous work. the sound palette is familiar, yet refined, developed upon and taken further. the old beggar is undeniably worth the wait for anyone with a taste for the extraterrestrial.
