belfast bad boys, jet project, are running their city at the moment. their recent slew of tracks on labels such as viva, darkroom dubs, as well as our very own get digital with the scorching hot >zuma<, have been getting them attention with djs great and small. chugging right along in very tastefully form, the lads lend their services once again to get digital. however, this time it is an e.p. all for themselves and deservedly so with hauntingly epic >understand this<. understand this is a clinic of how to mold proper song structure into dance music form. all the key elements are there: a discernible intro, strong vocals with meaning, and a proper breakdown that utilizes a whole new group of sounds. writing tunes like these takes knowledge, effort, and passion. the dub version strips the male vocal hook away, but leaves the snippets and effects from it in there. allowing the track to ride on its full bass line and warped synth patterns..

manuel tur has been making some great music recently, whether it be as one half of the ribn project with partner langenberg, on numerous remixes alongside dplay or solo on a variety of labels such as mild pitch, pokerflat, freerange, mule music, drumpoet and now delusions of grandeur. fianchetto opts for a dark, spaced-out and deeply hypnotic vibe full of warm, subby disco beats, shimmering rhodes and echoing horns. a masterful production from manuel that is loaded with atmosphere and sounds mighty on a big system. next up we have beasts and the birds which goes for a heavy looped up disco approach full of raw detroit sensibilities and attitude. finally, tim toh (much respected and sickeningly young german producer releasing on soulphiction’s philpot label) stretches out beasts and the birds into a 9 minute journey into abstract dance. once again, we’re talking unrefined, no compromise house music here, the likes of which you won’t be hearing on an mos compilation anytime soon

this man cant currently be stopped. following his releases through the 2nd season 2009 (>marvin” on compost, >smaul 06< & >smaul 07<) in january 2010 acid paulis >riverboat tour< came out. now, it seems he opens this years summer season with these two psychedelic thrilling tracks. even though he had been touring a lot with the notwist last year, acid pauli was pretty often an invited, musically refreshing guest in berlins minimal techno (what ever) scene. den mahlstrom rauf leaves no doubts about. great build up he does by keeping tension over five minutes to unlash finally the madness charge with a levitating reverse-ducking-compressed melody. den mahlstrom runter (a play on words of travelling on a boat and getting milled…) seems to be the return from the trip he gives on side a. it is the same track reworked. his musical drama goes faster but deeper under the cortex – but >how lucky a fate< deliverance comes at right time taking the track over to a known housy and deep realm.

mike maze returns for 2010! some of you might remember mike maze from one of his older projects together with martin gast as abysm. >future love< on marc romboys systematic label was one of the labels best sold releases ever. >the path< is a deep technotic track with an epic instrumentation. warm chords fly over the dark notched groove and the synths have an almost trancy touch which puts you into a great mood. including mixes by autodeep and micha mischer.

dj mika is on a roll with his straight up no nonsense techno bangers. techno with a funky drive and bassline, this is what we need. labelboss mika invited two big artists to back him up for this release. roman zawodny comes with a great techno track full of big noises, a catchy synth and the bass fitting perfect in there. tadox on the flip is the 2nd guest to step up and he also delivers in style. another great 4 track ep on the quality label innervate!

our trusty man from paris - antoine husson - returns to afu limited after a very successful 2009 with formidable releases on high profiled labels such as cocoon recordings, skryptom, scandium, kondens and last but not least afu limited ! this time he delivered more than a bomb with the keep it new track, that is already played by richie hawtin in his sets and surely more to follow pretty soon ! it s uplifting, exciting, building and boiling stabs take the atmosphere to the limit and will do it s big damage on the dancefloors for sure! blondeble is a great minimal techno track with all it needs to keep a crowd pleased and freak out and mozinor rounds it up for this excellent first release on afu limited for 2010!
