italian techno heavyweights markantonio and rino cerrone finally name their collaborative ventures after ten years of gigs and productions together, and the name is junction hands. revolution is back is the first full release under the junction hands moniker, following a well received outing as part of the recent the napoli connection ep on adam beyers drumcode and it sees the two veterans deliver some of their strongest work yet. the title track is a pacey number with a reverb soaked yet warm atmosphere which underpins an aggressive, simple and incredibly effective bass/drum loop which gains intensity throughout. sharp sounds puncture the groove here there which keeps things interesting but its the discordant stabs in the break which push things into overdrive. the equally hypnotic and driving thing for hands follows but manages to do so with an increased feeling of woozy menace. synths feedback on themselves to shattering crescendos before subsiding into waves of noise while the groove relentlessly works its magic. with junction hands theres yet another must-check name coming out of the neapolitan scene.

when we heard pompeya for the first time and were told they were from moscow, we were like: - what!? are you kidding? this is probably the first russian band singing in english with such a classy brit touch and male vocal being very strong and sophisticated at the same time. they jestingly describe their style as >melodramatic popular song< and >cheenese< is indeed a very dramatic piece with simple yet powerful composition and lyrics that really make big sense. the original is very well supported by a bunch of remixes each of which is unique on its own. an-2 & samos come with a warm, relaxed and funky instrumental version which is followed by a blockbuster mix from moscow disquo maestro leonid lipelis (an entirely perfect dance version of the original that could ever exist) and finally, for those few sirs and mesdames who are not yet aesthetically satisfied and who still find themselves seated while others jump and shout, here come d-pulse with their paranoid mix that gathers the thunderclouds to the full darkness and - at the end - lets the revival sunbeams break through.

inspired by the stripped back technical set-ups of yesteryear, mike monday and will saul present the sequence 1 ep, the product of the two artists limiting themselves to a roland 909, a korg kaos pad, a dave smith polyevolver and recording their jamming on the fly. >we wanted to inject some excitement, energy and randomness into this release, so decided to play the tracks live with mike on the 909 and keys and will on filters and effects. we had a broad idea of where we were going before we pressed record, and recorded a few takes of each track, then took the best moments from each. the big challenge was reining in the slightly chaotic recordings, but after some tweaking we found a balance between old school rawness and modern production values.<

everybody loves summer & house music, and of course so do we! these four tracks by our italian and spanish friends have already been hammered on various open air floors by the usual suspects, and especially marco effe s track chesley had people running up into the dj-booth trying to find out what it is. well, today we finally have the answer.

here we go again! with the >lucky numbers ep< we proudly present the next smashing release on driving forces recordings! dfr005 features a massice collaboration between us based kyle geiger (drumcode) & and uk techno legend jamie bissmire (space djz). this fusion brought out two mental and evil techno tunes called >lucky numbers< and >potential. both made to kick asses and early featured at dave clarkes >whitenoise< radioshow.
but theres more to come! attention should be paid to the mind-blowing remixes from the mighty space djz themselves and chicagos rising talent, submerge (mote evolver, fragments)

the sound of the track is powerful and effective, the middle break is built up on a slow tempo hardcore kick drum, which takes you into the massive floorfiller melody. the lyrics speak for themselves!
on the b side the aggressive and strong remix by meccano twins on their typical style, a smashing kick drum, earbleeding grooves and noisy sounds.

baby ford and zip continue a fruitful partnership with some uber cool, super deep minimal techno on pal sl records. >clean hands< sees a hushed and soulful vocal wafting over atmospheric synth scratches, ultra low end bass and deft high end clicks and shuffles. >for how long< is even more reduced, letting the space between the sparse sounds say as much as the sounds themselves. truly unique sounds from this talented pair.

man/machine: viennas elektro guzzi challenge the meaning of live in electronic music. bored of laptop sets? with a classic setup of guitar, bass and drums elektro guzzi quantize themselves to an unheard level of discipline, tightness and danceability. no computers, no pre-recorded loops, no solos. probably the first time techno is really played live. as sequential as they may sound, they couldnt be more analogue. but however traditional they may look as a band, they certainly do not sound like one. the quest for the ultimate live presentation of techno has come to an end.
