vive la musique brings you an official reissue and rework of the unique and highly sought after zouk track tabala mouv . the song is is the standout composition from the ultra-rare tabala series, released on vinyl in the mid 80s. after many months of searching, label head aroop roy managed to track down songwriter and producer, maurice agad, to the caribbean island of martinique. the 12inch includes the original track and two brand new versions, making a special package that many are touting as one of the soundtracks of the summer. in the original, detroit-esque keys and a balearic beat captivate you from the opening bars and uplifting vocals and a euphoric horn section combine to transport you to an idyllic paradise. aroop roy steps up the tempo and flips the groove for a trademark rework that will have universal appeal to house, disco and tropical music fans. the release is made complete with a subtle extended edit from truccy. the package is presented with beautiful full cover artwork, limited to the first pressing, which is likely to go very quickly.

the ppa duo outta london is back with another burning hot 7inch on gamm. just like on the first 7inch they go for two rare jazz-funk tracks where they not only rework the originals but also add their own instrumentation on top. song for you (by popcorn) got a real nice boogie funk feel and sounds like an early 80s production from the uk even though its actually a rare florida production. green machine is jazz-funk original by o donel levy but now re-tweaked and with vintage clavinet and percussion added over the original track. another ppa home run!

irenic003 is a cooperative effort by roger gerressen and his well known accomplices sinan alakus and ivano tetelepta. disc one is a collection of novio dub tribe tracks accompanied by an amazing remix by the incredibly talented udmo from australia. known for a string of well received and beautifully produced ep s on analogue attic, udmo took the original and did a nice stretched out rework for the early hours. on the second disc we find a few tracks from the vaults, two raw recordings by ivano tetelepta and roger gerressen and a track done by the labelboss himself..

robot 84 returns with another set of killer balearic inspired reworkings. these drums opens up the e.p. layering drum loops and bongo fills with dubbed out keys, brooding pads and afro vocals. the a2, all the more cosmic yet club ready in its nature, marries a powerful bassline and captivating kick pattern with some space echo synthwork, before those epic toms and vocal chants ring out. on the flip side, long hot is exactly that a smoldering, soulful, slow jam rework to ride off into the sunset to.

after putting out kito jempere s well received sea monsters album last year, hell yeah now serve up another selection of remixes of it. accomplished musician jimi tenor, plus miskotom and max essa all contribute before a 7inch, also taken from the album, lands later in summer. first up is jimi tenor, the legndary finnish musician who has released on warp, collaborated with tony allen and has his own band as well as occasionally playing sax with kito jempere band at live gigs. he flips puzzled into five minutes of stripped back and moody electronics with plenty of his own flute playing in the track. busted drum sounds, spooky sci-fi synths and scattered hits make it woozy and late night and utterly absorbing. miskotom—a newly emerging pair made up of mik and his wife andra, both based in vilnius, lithuania with credits on pleasure unit and balearic —then reimagine ampa as a beatdown but of deep house with trudging drums staying low and shimmering synths drift out in all directions. crunchy hits bring a subtle sense of funk and reverb drenched vocals bring a heavenly feel to the soul drenched grooves and summery keys. then comes max essa, the japan based brit who is a regular on this label as well as the likes of is it balearic?. his first remix is a huge one that is sure to soundtrack many a boat party this summer. it s a gorgeous rework of ampa that puts achingly blissful vocals front and centre as low slung bass and slowly turning drums sink you into a pan-pipe laced reverie. secondly, essa offers a dub reprise that removes the vocals and places all the focus on his churning drums and new age grooves. this is another perfect package of masterfully electronic horizontal sounds.

uncage founder marco faraone makes his second appearance on rekids with a massive vocal cut entitled ‘on my way’, featuring a remix from 50weapons and hyperdub’s addison groove. the italian techno producer had an active year touring in 2017, dropping only one release on tenax recordings. however, 2018 is already proving to be one of his busiest on the production front, with releases appearing on rekids special projects, on edge society and his own label uncage, not to mention forthcoming appearances on gigolo and avotre. he now returns to rekids with his biggest sounding record yet. with its infectious vocal, rolling kicks and off-beat hats, it is undeniable that ‘on my way’ is destined to become one of this year’s most recognisable club tracks. on the flip, bristolian producer and swamp 81 affiliate addison groove has produced an intricate remix featuring a cacophony of percussion as a stuttering low-end joins chilling synths. finally, faraone concludes the package with a ‘dub acid rework’, losing the vocals whilst incorporating heady 303 licks.

2017 saw cesar merveille & ryan crosson deliver their second long player in the shape of cerulean, drawing on their modern classical, jazz, ambient and abstract influences to create yet another unique listen featuring collaborations with a classical pianist, trumpet, guitar and double bass players. here we see those original parts eschewed into something entirely fresh from friends and close associates of the duo. leading on the release is cadenza boss lucianos sous le sol interpretation of arp, which twists and turns through the hypnotic chimes and emotive piano chords of the original whilst stirring in luciens signature modulating and intricately evolving rhythmic style. following is a collaborative rework from new yorks phil moffa and seth troxler which employs ethereal synth drones and stuttering vocal cuts alongside a bumpy percussive drive and pulsating subs. perlons bruno pronsato steps up next to remix even tides, delivering his typically raw and emotive style via glitched out, mind-bending percussion, elongated bass drones and cleverly reshaped cuts of the originals cinematic elements. l.as clovis then closes the package with his remix of nordic bummers, employing shuffled hats, lumpy subs and crunchy claps at its core whilst horn swells and aiy atmospherics ebb and flow throughout.

in october 2017 honey dijon was commissioned to take part in the smirnoff were open campaign, aiming to promote inclusive night time culture and celebrate nightlifes ability to transcend gender boundaries and prejudice. as well as appearing in the were open tv commercial, honey was asked to record her take on the initiative’s ethos for creating positive change, making dance music culture a more open-minded and socially inclusive space. what resulted was a rework of ‘queen of disco’ sylvester’s ‘stars’ featuring vocals by singer-songwriter sam sparro, who she collaborated with previously on her album the best of both worlds. now being released on limited edition blue vinyl via classic music company, with breathtaking artwork from assume vivid astro focus who also supplied cover artwork for the album, the entire proceeds from the release will be donated to lgbt foundation. created with parts recorded especially for the were open advert,stars (disco version), produced with the help of classic head luke solomon and studio partner lance desardi, pops sylvester’s spangled party-starter directly into 2018. previously made available as a free download to coincide with the launch of the campaign, the cosmic energy dub, underlining honey’s acidic but sweet production, is followed by two mixes by one of her favourite producers of the moment and fellow chicagoan, cratebug. his nova remix references the classic disco elements of the original, while the supernova remix - exclusive to vinyl - goes fully intergalactic with a glorious squelching extended mix. paying lip service to the legacy of a truly gender-redefining figure whose music is nothing but inclusive and empowering, honey dijon and classic prove the power of music to inspire positive change in the dance music communities with this stars release.

discotheque fantastique is a musical collaboration that produces an eclectic spectrum of genres, somewhere between psychedelic rock, rare groove, funk and cosmic disco.

the first release is an ep with three driving tracks. the first track by discotheque fantastique -carnaval- has a percussive beat, hypnotic bassline, solid funk breaks with layers of tension. the second track by herr 2003 s -bourdonnement de l amour- is an amazing rework of a classic 70 s psychedelic rock tune with a groovy bass line, punchy female vocals and a shimmering arpeggiator synth. on the b side, club bizarre delivers an incredible extended version of a classic french cut from the 80 s.

len faki mixes , transparent vinyl , len faki takes on a couple of classics for 007 of his ongoing special edits series lfrmx, striking a perfect balance between the old and new. first up is a tweaked version of steve stolls 1998 lp-excerpt reciproheat, elegantly edged while carrying the proper weight to move. dj shufflemasters booming housedust release from the same year however has a wacky tack to its groove, its mind-bending qualities yet amplified by faki boiling down the tempo to more current confines. the flipside goes all deep, starring a rework of valentino moras recent space odyssey. building upon the originals lively tribal percussion, the prevailent mystical mood is spliced up, readying the track special moments in an otherwise up-tempo-environment. a gently pulsing edit of ubx127s barabrus eventually puts a meditative and soothing finishing touch to the ep. as with all releases of lf rmx, the proceeds of this record will be forwarded to the berlin organization straßenkinder e.v. to be used in actions against child poverty.
