TRY LOVE (ONE MORE TIME) / THAT BOY OF MINE (7 INCH)
7 Inch 06.03.18
try love was originally recorded by norma jenkins and pitched to motown who passed on the track (this version only survives on acetate). master of the girl group herb bernstein picked up the track and recorded the version you hear on this 45 which for whatever reason failed to make a dent until it was picked up first by the belgian popcorn scene and later the northern scene, demand far outstripped supply and this rare 45 became very expensive. a haunting, odd and beautiful record to this day the members of the sparkles remain a mystery.
yet more classy techno emanates from paris hotbed of talent as the mysterious who decides to launch get your copy records after 15 years spent slaving away in the studio. making a statement with his first release, the long serving background artist has chosen to dig out an archival track and drop it as a single-sided 12-, the biggest compliment a track can surely receive. there s no doubt that -make my love- is worthy of such treatment, sporting a punchy set of techno rhythms that meet with sexy vocal licks and a deadly lead synth that truly marks the track out a crowd pleaser.
occasionally, a record — or sometimes even a dj — simply falls out of the sky, like so many unexplained showers of fish, or midnight deliveries of frozen piss from passing jumbo jets. and so it was when dj steve first came to our attention in 2011 via tim sweeney, who discovered him quite by chance djing in the italian seaside town of tropea.
yambee! is the first collaboration between dancefloor giants ashley beedle and yam who?. chemical love is an epic sampledelic jazz dancer with detroit overtones (think theo parrish or moodymann) thats sure to mash up any dance. natural off is a lysergic disco monster which gives a nod to the hard times we are living in. this will be the first of a series of yambee! 12inch platters that will be coming out on ashleys out hear audio imprint.
again a new fresh talents lands on be as one. italys sehou is indeed a well promising artist and the israeli imprint surely has a careful ear when it come to signing its artists. >to who love< is as simple as it is beautiful, a true house masterpiece with a classic touch, to stand the test of times. >dark side of the sun< turns things darker and deeper, phat bass, phat grooves, sure effect. to complete the package gel abril strikes back again on be as one after bein gmissed for long on the imprint. keeping things basic but effective, the israeli brings funk to the floor in his own unmistakable style
