byron s ballads is a dance treat on the housey-ish vibe showing ceephax s melodic skills in full flow. citylink is a smooth house/disco track ideal for cruising the ocean highways and downtown boulevards. sneaker is a poundy 303 classic with an emotional melody which is simultaneously uplifting and melancholy. haliphax is based on ceephax s earlier -friend track- but has a nice camelot chord arrangement and disco finale that takes it to medieval heights. the hague is a simple upbeat house track with wintery strings and distant pianos over a throbby bassline.

acid fourniture is a journey into the darker recesses of ceephax s acidic mind. simple 303 lines pulsate alongside sinister chords and detuned synths. berlin trip is a classic acid 4 to the floor track along the lines of flow coma by 808 state. alligatored is a tight 808/303 groove made for the dancefloor. the zone is a slower more introspective acid, conjuring up lost warehouses and derelict minds. alien beacon takes a more electro acid slant, inspired by sinister lights in the sky and paranoia.

1985, restored from a vintage vinyl copy (masters were lost long time ago in chicago...) copies sold for 0. on the youtube thread for the track a cousin of t. woodard says they pressed 2.500 copies of this - but that seems hard to believe unless they didnt sell and got recycled at trax and/or were simply thrown out, as this rarely show up anywhere. this is a very early and simple track which sums up the new and experimental sounds of early 1985 along with tracks such as jesse sanders on & on and funkin keith funkin with the drums. basic early house music that havent lost any of its relevance.

in 1972 francois de roubaix and bernard maitre composed together the music of a tv series for children presented by puppets, called the onix. the musical oddity here released by weme records is a part of this ost. this piece of music demonstrates once again that francois de roubaix was in touch with all kinds of music of his time, including contemporary music. in this experimental track we can feel the influences of the composer pierre henry, an other explorer of unknown sounds. on the b side jodey kendrick makes his own interpretation of this music with current tech and sounds while keeping the atmosphere and fantasy of the original sound. attention non music !

brilliant tv and movie themes by francois de roubaix!!! on 20 november 1975 francois de roubaix disappeared while diving. before going towards this tragic death, francois had received an order for a television series theme tune commissaire moulin. as usual, the composed melody has been indelibly printed in the collective memory. francois de roubaix always put his fingers where it should be! between electronic tricks and acoustic works, this record brings the themes of this television series together with other musics composed for never released or still unknown projects... all unpublished music, never pressed on vinyl! it soon becomes clear that francois de roubaix feels confortable with this kind of exercises. the result is every time sublime. recommended!!

repress in blue vinyl !! the late french soundtrack composer (1939-1975) was one of the first to use frequency modulators on an 8 track homestudio. he was known for his melodic works mixing electronic & acoustic. his oeuvre has been sampled by many. this release devotes a posthumous work composed for a cousteau documentary which was refused, probably beacuse it was too avant-garde. on the second disc youll find different tasty style-exercises that show to what extend roubaix manipulated the modulators with ingenuity.

italian audio/visual artist federico leocata, born in 1987, releases his first ep on weme in the weme313 category. inspired and sponsored by heinrich mueller (arpanet, der zyklus, dopplereffekt) he creates an uncluttered and cold electro, totally honest and whole-hearted/flawless. each song has a well defined role in the structure, leaning on a square rhythm, opppresive bass, frightening tunes, giving a futuristic and fantastic music as a result. this first record suggests a prolific future for this young artist.

ceephaxs drive time k7 was released as a bonus cassette with his first album, and is a cult classic. half an hour of music per side, ranging from banging vocal acid to the deepest and darkest side of ambient, with everything in between. the 27 tracks are a perfect description of andy jenkinson s original music universe, his roots. it took about quite a while to transfer it onto acetate, it was one of the most challenging vinyl cut that anyone can imagine. the making of this record is kind of similar to homer s iliad. the stamper was then stored for several years, safe from the dangers of heat and daylight. just like for the nicest bottles of wine. firtcask records just took this jewel out of the cellar...
