man kann sich tim mislocks debütalbum -now is the last best time- auf zwei weisen nähern. rein musikalisch betrachtet handelt es sich um ein von der gitarre dominiertes ambient-werk. mit seinen organisch fließenden klanglandschaften ist es hörbar von größen wie brian eno, stars of the lid oder eluvium beeinflusst, was hier durchaus als kompliment verstanden werden darf. abgerundet werden die sechs tracks durch minimal-einflüsse eines max richters oder jonny greenwoods. jenseits der musik ist es mislock aber auch ein konzeptionelles anliegen, mit seinen kompositionen auf die krankheit alzheimer aufmerksam zu machen. -i wanted to raise awareness of the disease-, so der musiker. mit alzheimer kam er durch die erkrankung seines stiefvaters in kontakt. alzheimer ist eine schwere erkrankung des gehirns und die häufigste form der demenzerkrankung. in deutschland werden jährlich rund 120.000 diagnosen gestellt. tendenz: steigend! für familienmitglieder ist alzheimer eine extreme belastung, und so war es auch bei mislocks mutter, die sich aufopferungsvoll um ihren mann kümmerte. und auch daran dockt -now is the last best time- an: -i also wanted to develop a historical document to thank my mother and tell her that her generosity and kindness have not gone unnoticed.-

tim green is back with another brace of high impact club tunes of the sort that have made him one of the most in demand producers of the day. whether serving up rolling techno treats for cocoon, essential mixes for the body language series on get physical or laying down compelling club sets in the dj booth, brit tim green is unstoppable right now. here he steps up to the get weird imprint with two more tantalising cuts that show just how broad and brilliant an artist he is. stirring opener ‘for a memory’ is eleven minutes of wordless and intoxicating female vocals, slick rubbery drums and plunging bass. the overall effect is hypnotic, rolling and perfectly groovy, and it will no doubt have whole dancefloors locked under its spell. some little melodic explosions, sweeping filters and luscious pads all help add a real air of grace to proceedings that mark it out as another classic from green. ‘for a distant memory’ is a subtle but noteworthy reworking of the same cut. in this one, the drums are less direct and more stripped back, there is a focus on the angelic, glowing pads and on spine tingling slices of synth that are reflective and emotive as they drop in and out. it is a perfectly trance inducing, heart warming cut that the likes of lee burridge at his all day i dream parties, or various djs playing on a sun kissed terrace around the globe, will all lap right up. these are two more essential tracks from the ever on point tim green.

as we move into a new year, again start the cogs of labels and artists around the world, this is certainly the case for disc over music as they bring us their first release of 2015. high off the back of exquisite releases in 2014 from luca lozano & mr. ho and nicson, disc over’s first installment of 2015 comes from label head tim green - a three track ep bursting with two classic tg productions and grooves which is then given another dimension with a remix from the talented german born producer borrowed identity. the ep kicks off with the aptly named ‘scar’ - a track which when heard, truly makes it mark. it sets the tone for the rest of the ep with it’s prominent bassline and haunting howls whilst dreamlike keys bounce and float above. track two, ‘we thought’ is taken down a gear but keeps all of the groove built from ‘scar’. it begins with a simple trademark tg bassline and is allied with light and free singular keys. the listener is then joined by vocals which along with the previous elements take you on a real trip. borrowed identity speeds things up right away with his remix of ‘we thought’. the track is morphed into a dancefloor groove with the comforting vocals darkened, cut and reworked on top of an unpredictable and fluctuating bassline. managing to keep the identity of tim’s original the track becomes something completely different and certainly makes you feel you want to take the trip

the flatlife deep debut of liverpool-based artist binny, including remixes by oliver lieb & tim gaal. the oliver lieb remix of release is a pounding tech-house track based on the two major themes of the original and treated with the typical oliver lieb signature sound - peak-time material! the original version is a soulful and uptempo broken-beat detroit techno track. the journey once again takes you back to the motor city: a lush sounding pad sound is accompanied by a shuffled and funky rhythm track. the tim gaal remix slows it down and incorporates a retroish deep house feel. flatlife deep is run by jack wax (flatlife records) in cooperation with tim gaal (adepth audio), focusing on warm-sounding analogue techno music.

25-year-old tim green from the south of england is well-known to the attentive observer of the electronic dance music scene: besides releases on get physical, trapez and four:twenty recordings, he also gained a lot of attention with his contributions to the third cocoon 10 inch vinyl (lone rider) and the cocoon compilation i (exercise). on his debut ep, green presents the whole stylistic bandwidth that modern floorfillers can have. for almost ten minutes, >lemon< oscillates between a full frontal percussion assault, fragmented deep house vocals and detroit-influenced harmonies, consequently setting the signs to >summer<. the first track on the flipside, >jimmy rave up<, is a dark and pushing runner that impressively proves greens wealth of variants once again. the trio is completed by >dodjo<, a track that forms a more than pleasing intersection between tropic calypso sounds and machine-like strictness - an unforgettable track that will echo long after the year 2011, promised!
