after a ten year long career releasing music with many different labels icicle has taken the logical next step and started his own imprint, entitled entropy music. the name derived from his second album ‘entropy’ still aims to inspire the concept that music behaves as all things do in nature and degrades, falls apart and becomes more chaotic with time. in an effort to confront this, entropy music strives to bring controlled, rolling, technically detailed music, without ever overstepping that line when the process becomes inhuman and cold. on this second release on entropy music icicle teams up with kindred spirit and cousin proxima to deliver a four track collaborative ep. the opening track which also welcomes ben verse to the label, is rolling tech funk pur sang. the weighty and detailed yet simple breathing groove make it a track true to the entropy ethos and ben complements this with his trademark lyrics reminiscent of renegade hardware shows past. on the a2. icicle brings a near wooden stepper with a viscous turbulent low-end, a firm wink to the past, with dust me off. icicle’s track is expertly offset by proxima’s solo offering retrace a peak into futurism boasting an evolved playful groove which takes on board equal measures of jump up and 90’s tech. the ep is rounded up by the title track deep dreaming, where icicle and proxima collaborate once more to bring a slight curve-ball. pianos ring in an eerie musical intro to a dark but sultry track where the energy is second to the atmosphere.

after the celebrated metabolism lp from last year, sigha is back with an untitled 4-track cut for token84. after the celebrated metabolism lp from last year, sigha is back with a 4-track cut for token84. this untitled record remains understated, playing with variations on a theme whereby the similarities exist seemingly to illuminate the differences between the tracks. the relationship between circular and hum is reminiscent of sigha s 2016 new puritan flip on the earlier offering of puritan from 2012, with circular presenting a tight, meditative loop in high-mid frequencies while hum inhabits a similar space, only seemingly from a distance. if those two are close, measured and controlled, the other tracks on the record demonstrate more freedom and abandon. gliss is huge and heavy, while flare s sonic elements interact playfully and scatter as the piece progresses.

midnight conversation is the new italian project inspired by the new school of funk, jazz and broken beat written and composed by mattia trani and giuseppe maffei. a collection of their favorite works made in the past two years between bologna and berlin.

naïf 008 opens a series of five eps that will be released around the release of the dj-mix-cd also named naif which has its release in april 2018 the first strike comes with two blinding techno tracks: running man is a contribution by the gentleman of techno steve bicknell. the other comes from the young swedish producer that goes by the name of kuf and who is part of the arsenik crew. besides that we find two compositions by phillip sollmann himself that show his abstract and experimental approach. while aliasing bells is a texture of sampled tibetan bells tag3 by his side-project autolyse is a jam on a light-sensor-controlled custom-made synth. perfect for layering on top of a mix. after more then three years of silence as a producer, efdemin aka phillip sollmann returns with a striking hybrid concept that merges the album format with the continuous dj mix format, presenting completely new material in a seamless manner. the cd-mix, named naif, officially reinstates his label of the same name and is a sprawling tour of inner space featuring 19 distinct tracks from fellow producers along with an additional ten that feature efdemin himself (either as soloist or collaborator). the release condenses his decade-long dj-ing journey and evolution as a producer into a single potent elixir of contemporary techno. naïf consists of completely unreleased material from both himself and valued collaborators, all of which will eventually manifest as ep releases: five on his own naïf label and two more on curle.

here you have, the snippets of our third release. this time vco join us with one track. we want to say, as many paths in life, music is a way to express ourselves. therefore, this time we want dedicate this vinyl with all our love, to charliemoon.

berlin-based duo ontheground which consists of myztical and diagenetic origin, is about to release “role of the observer”, their follow-up to last year’s debut ep “touching higher ground”. this record is a snapshot of their creative development and hard work which took them at least a year to put together.
the a side takes up where the last year’s ep left off, establishing a template of industrial pummeling techno with a focus on irresistible, broken groove. a1 “the power of prayer” is a powerful banger - droning synths and dislocated samples build up the anticipation, before massive kicks drop and propel the tension onwards. a2 “controlled by faith” is similarly destructive on the dancefloor, a bundle of rasping, dirty rattles that drive on relentlessly in funky delirium.
the b side delves into the darker, more elusive recesses of the duo’s creativity. on b1 “ancient cycles”, distorted rumbles morph over pattering, primordial percussive patterns. b2 “role of the observer” ratchets out a heady mesh of fragmented, disorientating textures over frantic, propulsive beats.

the conceptual sibling to lorenzo sennis blinding quantum jelly side for editions mego in 2012, superimpositions finds the milan-based multi-disciplinary artist and owner of the brilliant presto!? records accelerating and evolving his idea of -pointillistic trance- - an ascetic, extreme approach to the aesthetics of 90s-style trance/hard-trance - in a broader range of song structures, hyper-lucid moiré patterns, and tantric dancefloor arrangements. again, he -plays- a computer-controlled jp8000 roland digital-analog modelled s-source synthesiser to juice the most potent, searing saw wave arpeggios and spiralling melodies, finding the biting point between real-time, hands-on, emotive human input, and the sleek tension of synthesis.

sasu ripatti links with the legendary max loderbauer (nsi., sun electric, mvo trio) as heisenberg for two knotty, complex riddim trips on his -studio diary- imprint. adopting the mantle of the eponymous fictional meth chef*, the duo conduct fevered but controlled experiments in frayed, often frantic grooves eaten up with dissonant, freeform electronics. a-side is a 125bpm techno tunnel groove with offset bass hits embedded in a swarm of combustible modular chain reactions that dissolve to a gurgling breakdown and reassemble in freakier form. b-side is a full-pelt stepper operating at 90/180bpm like one of the early, hi-tempo... more

xixa balance ep (apa002) abstract places audio elusive producer xixa delivers the second abstract places audio release. balance is a three-track ep where the co-founder of the label packs a solid techno sound drowned in complex and evolving atmospheres. as first label’s release (clip - gebre, 2016), this is not a 100% club record, we can hear ambient and idm influences, but a1 and b1 are perfect tracks to keep a techno set full of rhythm and tension, and will get its place on any dj record bag. a1 balance is built around a distorted but controlled techno beat. patiently, a wide palette of drones and other-worldly artefacts are growing next to carefully crafted percussive sounds. 1984 opens the b side of the 12”, with a 4 to the floor overdriven bass drum and a reverse reverb announcing its main synth sequence, accompanied by organic hi-hats and clap sounds. a collection of ethereal drones and noises is also used, giving the track a sense of cohesion and gluing its different parts. life inside a snow ball is xixa s personal take on ambient. some of the drones and artefacts from a1 are now mixed with new quasi- harmonic emotional textures and subtle noises emerging from a deep unknown space and forming a complete new sonic experience. balance ep is a very solid second release by abstract places audio that confirms the label sound and philosophy.

swiss-based, jamaican producer ezikiel returns to cadenza for his another outing, this time dropping the tales of roots ep. with this new ep he demonstrates his flair for the musical side of club compositions, imbibing his productions with sultry atmospherics, deep emotion and organic keys and strings. the title track tales of roots is a 15-minute opus, which unravels slowly but surely, working from a soft yet persistent bassline and a hypnotic rhythm. samples of tribal singers add a distinct human element, entrancing you with their organic vibrations. as the voices continue to sing out you’re transported to a vibrant sub- saharan landscape, captivated by the irresistible guitar riff on the flip we have makha poetry, a more experimental workout with a variety of warped and twisted effects spluttering and wobbling away at its foundation. the jaunty yet slightly eerie low end gives this track a naughty allure, as those strange bleeps and whirrs continue to bounce in and out of the background. theres a controlled restraint about makha poetry which gives it a devastating simplicity and a very unique aesthetic.

lucretio s first solo release on memento, the -system pressure e.p.- is a piece of carefully handcrafted nightclub music. the late-hours anthem -addict to the dancefloor- combines the early 90s heart-felt grooves with the state of the art of contemporary electronic production. -2bpad1- is a relentless ride of voltage controlled oscillators and hexadecimal quirks over hefty bare drums processed with a juicy analogue filter. finally -love wont leave- bring back together house and techno, melting their rhythm and blues essence into an absolute peak-time conjunction.

june 2017, amsterdam, nl: it is with the utmost urgency that we report the conclusions of our experiments with controlled doses of 4-ho-met, codenamed st004.
as instructed, we met up with agent 23, who introduced us to the test subject– code name ben penn – who was ushered into the bunker for immediate testing. in order to observe his reactions, penn was injected with a modified dosage of 4-ho-met and locked inside with only and handful of electronic machines for company.
the subject immediately began acting strangely. it quickly became clear that 4-ho-met was increasing his capacity to produce music.
afterwards, penn was able to play us two audio interpretations of his experience. he was visibly shaken.

astray is the sublabel of away, berlin. away, berlin’s party series and the eponymous vinyl label celebrate the launch of its sublabel astray with the road force ep by discrete circuit. while away with previous contributions from joe claussell, mr. ties, and move d leans more to the housier side of things, astray will take a different path by taking some darker, techno-centered steps. following the idea only to release productions by both label founders, discrete circuit and h4l, as well as unique collaborations which either of them will form with outside artists, astrays second ep will premiere the joint studio work of discrete circuit and dj/producer blind observatory.

shadowy multidisciplinary artist & videographer denial.of.service returns to film for an extended ep of wrought iron electronics, channeling the spirit of classic electro, industrial & noise. the artist, active since the 1980’s producing video work for a host of high profile names - including not least david bowie, currently transmits sporadically from an undisclosed location, though contemporary work has appeared on the creators project, as well as making the vimeo staff picks on an almost regular basis. recently, video commissions for minimal wave & jealous god affiliate in aeternam vale have ap-peared online, showcasing the artist’s trademark crushed, hallucinatory visual aesthetic.

the anonymous entity chptr derived from undefined controlled sequences progressing into endless alienated narratives, all live recorded and captured on the eponymous label, chptr.

spiros kaloumenos has been one of the key artists of planet rhythm at an earlier stage. this time he’s back with a completely recrafted style that perfectly fits the label’s current state of mind. adventurous techno with thumping beats and at times a little acidic touch. the greek artist comes up with a killer four track ep that goes from the sturdy beats of introvert shadow, through the acid tainted 101 reasons to the rave inspired anthem called de forme. we’re happy to welcome spiros back to planet rhythm.

taking proto sites back to the hypnotic hardware methods of earlier releases like lutto lento, s olbricht and sentry, suspension ep makes things kaleidoscopic, raw, repetitive and asynchronous. high gain perishing delays gradually cook your brain while flerbing sci-fi reverberations crawl across the atmosphere. this five-track cassette mantra has a furry analogue outer crust barely containing its computer controlled acid consciousness. each tune has its own density and unique stripped back bass structure which carries the whole thing along, absorbing strange hissy elements as it rocks downstream. breaking through the mantle, sawtooth voices murmur foreign incantations, swinging loopy phrases come and go jamming their way into repetitive bass squelches all pressure cooked to the extreme.

bushcraft the knowledge of survival in the wilderness. a young man leaves the safe harbour of his home town, only to find himself lost and lacking the soul. he was always able to trust his ears, but are they really true to him. or is he merely not listening. distant echoes of bass and the melancholia that was always present seem far away. with bushcraft ep jor-el finds himself in touch with the elements. the elements of the hard hitting futuristic music that once took his heart and formed his life. rumbling bass lines controlled by lazer sharp hi-hats driving forward. eerie sounds coming in and drifting out again. always driving forward. the influence of his early years in drum & bass is there. still this is pure techno music from an artist discovering new things in the universe within himself. true rotary recordings is run by joel alter and ena cosovic out of copenhagen. stemming from a mutual appreciation of the combination of raw techno and seductive sounds, the label is a natural development of their musical and personal partnership. true rotary recordings represent their musical vision and the vibe that they love. keeping it raw and genuine.

cold water, bad weather and a car packed with machines. best conditions to make a record. after two weeks, the reflections are three tracks, in three different ways but with many connections. the ep starts with “glowe” and technoid breakbeats, which are being controlled by heavy chords. “wiek” stays with the pattern of breaks but gets more emotional through various pads, which appear and suddenly disappear. on the b-side “spycker” finds his path, with the help of several percussive elements.
