gilles peterson ist ein britischer dj und musiklabel-betreiber. mitte der 1980er-jahre praegte er den begriff acid jazz fuer einen musikstil, der stark vom jazz und funk der 1970er jahre beeinflusst war, und gruendete 1988 zusammen mit eddie piller das label acid jazz. 1990 verlie§ er acid jazz und rief das label talkin loud ins leben, das kuenstler wie courtney pine, mj cole, the young disciples, reprazent, 4hero, incognito, terry callier und galliano unter vertrag nahm. seit 1998 praesentiert er die radiosendung worldwide auf bbc radio 1. zusaetzlich produziert peterson fuer verschiedene radiostationen in 15 laendern, darunter radio multikulti (rbb) und fm4 (orf), eine internationale version der worldwide-show . sein musikalisches spektrum umfasst dub, reggae, jazz, nu jazz, broken beat, house, drum n bass und hip-hop.
