alan abrahams, the man behind portable, emerged out of the ruins of a post apartheid south africa. growing up in an impoverished cape town township, tagged >beverly hills< by the locals, abrahams was always immersed in his sisters ritual of getting ready for a night out to a soundtrack of 80s soul, hi life and hip hop. inspired by the first batch of chicago house records, the foundations were laid for his future in music. experimenting with ways of combining traditional african rhythms with the 4/4 sound of house,abrahams completed various projects in south africa. most of which gave a commentary to the political turmoil of the country at the time. abrahams inevitably became frustrated by the geographic isolation of the country and relocated to london in 1997. in the uk abrahams went on to complete various releases for internationally recognised labels such as context and background records before starting up his own label, süd electronic in 2002

second release for the april77 record label... our sound is fast and tough. we dig the clash, buzzcocks, the jam and all that mid 70s early punk stuff. the list could go on and on (lenny pops, singer of the red hearts.). the red hearts are a household name in the los angeles indie rock and punk scene. they are lead by lenny pops, who formed the band in 2004 after having played in the brian jonestown massacre. the guys have shared the stage with cult icons such as silver apples, the avengers, as well as playing with many of todays top bands including black lips and lords of altamont.

after the resounding success of lunarjam001 the leeds based lunar cadets ticker & cristoidz return with some seriously out there, and rare as roast beef edits for your late night perusal. their first release flirted and got frisky with hott city, loveride and david byrne and put them through the lunar jam cosmic mixer. they have forsaken such formalities with this release though, and have unearthed four tracks from even deeper and darker corners of their collections, and given them a serious going over. already garnering much support from such balearic luminaries as prins thomas & moonboots as always, limited to initial press only polysleeve and photocopied inlay!
