Herla is the collaborative effort of two Austrian producers who’ve tipped their focus of sound towards warm analogue warmth, rugged drums and earthy soundscapes achieved through an amalgamation of analogue hardware. The vibe is heavily influenced by the early 2000 Techno sound as well as sprinkles of 80’s synthesis from bands like Joy Division with the classic Moog sound playing an integral part in their productions.

The release kicks off with ‘An Eating House’, a driving analogue excursion through Acid Techno, earth- shattering drums and eerie low-pitched vocal tones. The duo ride these fundamental elements out for a strong six and half minutes, tweaking the acid line and constantly altering the layers of the rhythm to create an efflorescent dynamic and a galvanizing peak-time groove.

Following is ‘From Within’ which delves into even darker territories as menacing moog tones bubble away and expansive reverbs cleverly build depth as the composition progresses. Whirring synth sweeps are thrown into the mix intermittently adding further texture while the failsafe gritty drum samples drive the cadenced aspect.

Last up to close the EP is ‘Fiddle About’, and as the name would suggest the vibe embodies a gradually unfolding feel with subtle nuances in the percussive elements keeping things in an ever- enticing state, while undulating saw-wave bass adds an exuberant vivacity to close this single with a bang.
