andrew scott, aka nyak, scott has remained a consistent representative of the music scene and we re delighted to have him on board for the first release of 2018 on local talk, bound ep. we re treated to four tracks, the opening track bound is a cut up, soulful disco house slammer. next up we got dancing, a perfect example of andrew s skill when it coms to slowing down the tempo but still letting the track have enough character to keep you dancing. on the flip we got see more which takes you straight to a dark and gritty club with it s stuttering chords, tight drums and pulsing bass. last but not least we got sandwiches which features long time collaborator ian blevins. a stunning low deep groove for any theo parrish or marcellus pittman fans out there.

!! ltd 50% deal !! following up on an excellent 12inch for karakul, a phonica records sub-label, he channels the spirit of legendary rhythm architects herbie hancock, theo parrish, kenny dope and lil louie vega, collating four rough gems made using an mpc, nord lead 2, roland sh101, roland 606, juno 106, jen sx1000, rhodes 88mk1 and with the help of mark hand on keys, misumami on vocals and ian blevins. each track packs incredible punch in the groove stakes, undoubtedly the characteristic that has attracted the likes of moodymann, seven davis jr and gilles peterson to ny*ak s music.

with the eleventh installment in the saft series in place, the label has already celebrated their landmark tenth release. for the new record, the label has some adventurous sampling going on by the likes of ian blevins and ny*ak.

andy scott likes to keep things physical with hardware setup that includes a trusty mpc, juno 106 and a couple of roland drum machines. starting things off with curtis scott achieves a warm,sample heavy cut that chops up dusty kicks acoustic guitars and cerial soul legends signature vocals.he is reminiscing about the golden yeas of hip-hop here and nalls it with this nostalgic groove

vinyl only - soul of hex is the collaborative project of 4004 and sebastien vorhaus, two producers currently based in tijuana, mexico. together the pair issue its *lip reading ep* on mexico city-based cvmr imprint, offering a single original track alongside remixes from vin sol, ny*ak, and a rework from chicago house veteran larry heard (a.k.a. mr. fingers), which finds the time-tested talent digging a bit deeper into soul of hexs *lip reading*, placing a low-rolling groove beneath the tracks hi-fi percussion clicks and jazzy keyboards.
