ludovic llorca is back under the art of tones guise with his fourth single, where the one is. the title track with its bustling bassline, shuffling beats and clever fills accompanied with jazzy chords is a masterclass in the art of tones house sound. next up is double wheelin an instant pleaser for anyone enjoying a soulful and effortlessly groovy fusion of bluesy vocals mixed with classic us deep house, in other words impossible to dislike. last but not least ludovic give his spin, a reprise de fonk , on the title track to finish the ep in fine style.

2 years ago, we celebrated our 10 years with 5 anniversary eps entitled 10 by ten, where we asked 10 of our favorite artists to write an exclusive track for the occasion. two of the stand out tracks were martin iveson - aka atjazz - leave me here as well as art of tones, koniokola, which we thought deserved a second life. freerange and delusions of grandeur boss, jimpster, blesses us with his deep yet driving rendition of leave me here, while fred everything chooses to update koniokola with a more dance floor approach and a strip down dub. we also included the original of leave me here which was never available on vinyl.

you can always trust ludovic llorca. once a year he locks himself in his studio and works the magic which results in a local talk release. his previous releases on local talk, the same thing (classic proto housemeets-baggy us garage vibe) the rainbow song (it sounds like an underground summer anthem in waiting) are lt classics and now, ludo returns with a third release, i just can t ep. while some producers struggle with new ideas, trying to re-invent the genre, ludo sticks to what he knows best. strings and chords combined with a thick and squelchy bass is the foundation of the title track while on the flip, dirty stories, is as hypnotic as it is jackin, in fact, both tracks are so irresistible you d start wondering if ludo stole them from a snake charmer.

theres no stopping ludovic llorca! after having several successful releases out on labels like we play house, shadeleaf and house of disco, art of tones returns to our beloved lt family with a second 12inch the rainbow song is the follow up to the same thing ep released back in 2013.

part 2 of the house of disco hod stash series this time featuring sort after tracks from art of tones & harry wolfman. pressed on blue vinyl and packed into a manila bag with hand stamped logo.

thatmanmonkz is certainly enjoying a fine run of form ! heavy duty releases for delusions of grandeur & kolour ltd, alongside a steadily building and essential catalogue on his own shadleaf music label for their fifth outing the label has opted for a split single, with french house royalty ludovic llorca aka art of tones handling a side duties ‘so worried’ marries a spoken word vocal with an irrsesistible clipped organ led and bumpin’ house workout that sounds a lot like fellow frenchman st germain did way back when. monkz handles the flip with the kind of rough and ready sample-house jam the label has championed ‘got to get to’ strings together a handful of live instrumentation & melodies in classic collage style, while the dub strips down and houses up the ingredients for a clonked out finale.

wph 019 brings us art of tones with lauer remixes. art of tones is of course the much-praised aka of llorca, has long since moved on from his f-communications days and is without a doubt one of the finest and most accomplished house music producers of our time. but we digress, because isnt this all about the music?

in 2011 when mad mats and tooli went to sonar festival in barcelona they met ludovic llorca aka art of tones outside a club. little did they know back then that two years later on they would release a 12 inch together. the same thing ep opens with the title track and kicks pretty damn sweet with its strong vocal, the guitar, bass and rhodes jamming on top of a tight groove, there is also a dub version included on the b-side. last but not least, the great sgatmi is a jazzy and bumpy house take with lots of samples perfectly balanced. all in all, classic art of tones material and the work of a producer firing on all cylinders.

ludovic llorca aka art of tones is a composer who spent his youth in the north of france, learning music-making with computers (commodore 64 and amiga). after releasing a couple of techno/house 12 inches on small labels, he signed an artist contract (using his family name as a moniker) with french label f-communications on 1997, releasing three eps, followed by a lp (newcomer) on 2001. the albums huge success (more than 170.000 copies sold) leads him to stages around the world, touring for more than 3 years with musicians and singers, performing live in famous festivals (montreux, nice, vienne, den haag, les vieilles charrues) and in prestigious venues.

goshawk returns for hudd traxx 60th release with erik rico supplying the vocals. get up 2 get down is a peak time groover with plenty of funk to boot accompanied by some seriously soulful lyrics. art of tones picks up the pace on the remix with a heavy bass line added with open hats to take things up a notch. flip for the b side and find the love has gone, a brilliantly made house track made for the dancefloor. goshawk closes things out with a laid back deep house dub on b2

lovedancing is proud to present yawumna , the new ep by tel aviv based veteran discoteers rabo & snob. ronen sabo & eyal rob have been djing together since the mid nineties and have been releasing their music via notable labels such as whiskey disco, lovedancing and disco halal. ronen, using the alias obas nenor has also released music on moodyman s mahogoni music, heist, and strictly rhythm.

it really feels like we (aka mad mats & tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with local talk, but it s really true what they say, time flies when you re having fun! from what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair. we really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the local talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality. from our very first release with bassfort s excellent moon shadow in the summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what local talk should represent... house music in any way, shape or form! over the years we released soulful, disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, uk, berlin, new jersey, detroit and of course chicago inspired house music. if it made us bump...we put it out! this brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. we thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of blaze s classic album 25 years later popped up. besides the fact that it s an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. it s not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. this fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we ve tried to capture on our 5 1/2 years later compilation, split into two parts. on part 1 you ll find a dark bassline driven house jam from art of tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from nyc s dj spinna, a blaze homage with that classic new jersey sound from sean mccabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta brescia from wonder kid corrado bucci. all in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...local talk style!

editorial is back again with another stacked 12inch with familiar faces and a new arrival to the label. art of tones kicks things off with bootyshaker, inspired by uk compadre red greg. with a driving funky bassline, this jam is a bonafide party starter! the mysterious barry prophet surfaces again with a laid back slo-mo boogie vibe on closer. flip the wax for editorial stalwart matt hughes and his class funky guitar and bass work on walk the chalk. next up is italys special q bringing his nu-disco sound proper. finally, the sellout s close out the ep with a heady downtempo smokey joint.as you know, this is: the way we groove
